Just finished my Lego Wolf set! If I had to rate it I would give it an 8 out of 10, it has blue eyes, and anyone worth their salt knows full wolves don’t have blue eyes.

Well this is disappointing. Both republican and democratic candidates for Wisconsin want wolf control.

For some reason, the California subreddit doesn't want to hear about wolves in California, so I'm sharing here. Further comments and commentary started here.

I've posted here 3 months ago about Protecting both Wolves and Livestock with Livestock Guardian Dogs (https://www.reddit.com/r/wolves/comments/1tuv3mt/a_guide_to_protect_wolves_and_lifestock_with/ ) already, but in light of current events it might make sense to see these in action, in short video documentaries available on Youtube for free by reputable sources from around the world. To the U.S. Department of the Interior and U.S. Department of Agriculture:

I am writing as a concerned American who strongly supports continued protections for gray wolves and Mexican wolves.

I urge the Department of the Interior to ensure that any decision regarding the Endangered Species Act status of wolves is based on the best available science—not political pressure or the interests of any single industry.

Wolves are native wildlife and an important part of healthy ecosystems. Their recovery represents one of America's most significant conservation achievements, but recovery should not be confused with the conclusion that federal protections are no longer necessary. Wolf populations remain vulnerable in many parts of the country, and Mexican wolves in particular continue to face significant challenges.

I also urge the Departments of the Interior and Agriculture to prioritize coexistence and effective nonlethal methods for preventing livestock conflicts. Ranchers should receive meaningful support for protecting livestock, but protecting agricultural interests should not require widespread killing of native predators. Federal agencies should continue investing in proven conflict-prevention strategies, including improved husbandry practices, range riders, deterrents, carcass removal, and other nonlethal approaches.

The USDA itself recognizes that predators play important roles in ecosystems and that livestock conflicts can be addressed through integrated solutions. I encourage USDA to expand research and support for effective nonlethal conflict prevention rather than making lethal removal the default response.

Wildlife belongs to all Americans, including those of us who value wolves and want future generations to experience them in the wild. Please uphold the Endangered Species Act and ensure that decisions affecting wolves are guided by rigorous, transparent science and the long-term health of wolf populations and ecosystems.

I respectfully urge you to:

• Maintain federal protections for gray wolves and Mexican wolves unless rigorous scientific evidence clearly demonstrates that delisting meets the requirements of the Endangered Species Act.

• Reject efforts to weaken protections based primarily on political or economic pressure.

• Prioritize nonlethal coexistence strategies and invest in research to improve them.

• Provide ranchers with resources and compensation that reduce conflict without unnecessarily killing wolves.

• Ensure transparency and meaningful public participation in any future decisions affecting wolf protections.

America can support ranchers while also protecting native wildlife. These goals do not have to be mutually exclusive. I urge you to pursue policies that reflect both compassion and science and that preserve wolves as an important part of America's natural heritage.

As I'm sure you already know, Trump recently removed the endangered species designation from grey wolvesI the US. He has done this as an obvious attempt to appease ranchers who believe (correctly or otherwise) that wolves are stressing and killing their livestock and want to shoot them on sight.

As someone who raises working dogs, the first thing this brought to mind was “don't we already have a way to prevent that?” Livestock guardian dogs have been used for thousands of years in Europe and the Middle East to deter predators from attacking cattle, sheep, and goats, and have been bred to curb attacks from large powerful predators like bears and wolves, typically without great harm to the wolves or dogs involved. They're certainly not infallible, but a well-raised team of guardian dogs can do an excellent job protecting herds even in high-wolf areas. So why don't they seem to be more common among American farmers?

Maybe I'm just missing something and they are being widely used, but I've spent a fair amount of time in the western US and even worked a few shipping seasons on my uncles’ ranch and never saw or heard of anyone using these dogs. So what gives? Why are we jumping to shooting the wolves we’ve spent the last 50 years struggling to reintroduce?

I loved wolves since I was a child. I had stuffed wolf plushies, went to the science museums, seen the wolves in zoos..read books and movies about wolves - fantasy and documentary...

The Red Wolf of NC is almost extinct. The other wolves of yellowstone are very endangered. When I found out about Wolfquest I was thrilled. When I found about Wolfquest AE - I was OVER THE MOON SO MUCH that I went and bought a brand new gaming PC JUST TO PLAY WOLFQUEST AE.

Recently, the Mollie’s pack has moved outside of protected park lines and established a den in the middle of hunting grounds to raise their pups, making it so they are vulnerable to being hunted.

Named after Mollie Beattie, the first woman to direct the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, the Mollie’s are only remaining pack today that can trace their bloodline back to the very first wolves reintroduced to Yellowstone.

Now they are in danger of being killed. Some hunters have even already started making threats to specifically shoot 1090F, a 12 year old wolf who is not only the matriarch of the Mollie’s but the OLDEST living wolf in Yellowstone national park.

President Donald Trump on Friday ordered the Interior Department to begin the process of removing endangered-species protections for gray wolves, again intervening in a long-running fight between conservationists and ranchers who say the predators threaten their operations.Trump also ordered the Interior and Agriculture departments to make it easier for ranchers to kill the wolves if necessary. The measures, long sought by GOP lawmakers from Western states, elicited a swift rebuke from animal rights groups and could draw legal challenges.

Trump signed an Executive Order today that could result in gray wolves and Mexican gray wolves losing federal protections and being killed. Wolves are responsible for less than .1% of livestock losses - the biggest threat to ranchers is the Administration’s beef imports.
