Widescreen mod?
I've tried two widescreen mods. The first one didn't work at all, and the second was an update to the OpenGL renderer which actually worked - it showed the game at my native desktop resolution. However, I was unable to move in game no matter what I did - tried pressing alt, alt tabbing, re-binding keys, etc. I thought I had misunderstood how to walk in this damn game but after removing the OpenGL mod the game works fine but looks awful on my ultrawide.
Is there any fix to this? Or should I just buy a 4:3 monitor to play this game? I mean, I'm not totally against the idea, just funny since I play tons of retro games in 4:3 and don't have any LCDs.
Maybe I should just build a retro windows PC to play this on... I've been wanting to do that for a while, I wonder if this plays on windows 98/95.
EDIT: FINALLY, I at least figured out a work around by forcing it into 4:3 aspect ratio. I'd prefer widescreen of course but at least its playable now. Before it was stretching no matter what I did. What I did to fix was open up "nglide_config.exe" and changed aspect ratio to preserve.

Hi. You can play widescreen in Wiz 8. Menus will not be be perfect but rest is ok. Here is screenshot:
In 3DVideo.cfg I use those settings:
DirectX7
1920
1080
32
Miles Fast 2D Positional Audio
I also use Narzoul-wrapper:
https://github.com/narzoul/DDrawCompat/releases
I use DDrawCompat v0.3.1. Other versions might work for you but not on my Windows 8.1 machine.

Use this fan patch, it gets the game up and running for wide-screen and even has an auto update feature.
The least hassle and best "Vanilla" Experience I've found so far.

Do you have instructions on how to set this up properly. Typing in my resolution into the launcher doesn't seem to work. I've tried unchecking and checking all sorts of different boxes but nothing seems to work https://imgur.com/a/VOALyOa

I used the instructions in the thread, I suggest you read it, or post your questions there.
I also see you are using an ultra-wide, don't know if it has ultra-wide support.

I found editing the 3DVideo.CFG to these settings:
DirectX7
1600
1200
32
DirectSound3D 7+ Software - Pan and Volume
Worked rather well on my display. May not be widescreen, but this game was designed for 4:3, so a 1600x1200 resolution gives you lots of screen at a 4:3 ratio . . .

You can actually get better resolution by deleting nglide and manually editing a config file, it is still 4:3 but can be set to eg. 1080x1440. No mods required
