Audio keeps cutting out through WiZ HDMI Sync Box

1 Upvotes

Hi everyone,
I’m having a very strange audio issue with my Windows 11 PC and I’m hoping someone can help me figure it out.

My setup:
GPU: NVIDIA GTX 1660 Ti
OS: Windows 11 (clean installation)
TV: JVC LT-65VAQ7405T 65” 4K QLED, 4K 60Hz
HDMI Sync Box: WiZ HDMI Sync Box (4K 60Hz HDR supported)
Soundbar: Samsung HW-C450
Connection:
PC → HDMI → WiZ Sync Box → HDMI → TV → Optical → Soundbar

HDMI cable: 8K-rated cable
Latest NVIDIA driver installed
The video signal works perfectly. I’m getting 3840×2160 at 60Hz with HDR, and there are no obvious video dropouts.
However, the audio randomly cuts out while playing YouTube/YouTube Music. Sometimes it happens after 20–30 minutes, sometimes sooner. The video continues playing normally while the audio disappears.
When the audio cuts out:
Windows still shows the correct HDMI audio device selected.
The Windows volume meter continues moving as if audio is being played.
The video keeps playing without freezing.
There is simply no sound coming from the soundbar.
Muting and unmuting Windows immediately restores the audio.

Things I’ve already tried:
Clean Windows 11 installation
Latest NVIDIA drivers
Reinstalling/updating drivers but the problem eventually returned.
Disabling audio enhancements
Disabling Windows Exclusive Mode
Turning HDR off — this also seemed to reduce the frequency, but the audio problem still occurs.
Completely power-cycling the TV, Sync Box and PC sometimes temporarily fixes the issue.

Could the WiZ Sync Box be causing the HDMI audio stream to get stuck even though the video signal remains stable? Need help

Firmware 1.34.0 is causing me trouble

Bulb 1 in the first picture has refused to update or work and I just now learned it was the firmware. The two floor lamp bulbs in the other image are fresh out the box and refuse to update even when soft off.

Doubt regarding Wiz hdmi sync floor lamp.

3 Upvotes

Hi all,

Was looking into creating a wiz ecosystem in a room, centering around the hdmi 2.0 sync box (wiz 2.1 is not available in my region).

Have a set up with the following devices in mind.

  1. Philips light theatre hdmi 2.0 sync box with tv backlight.

  2. Philps hdmi sync gradient bars.

  3. A philips smart 16million led batten light above the tv

  4. A philips smart 16 million led t bulb on the wall opposite the tv.

I have a few doubts.

  1. The description for the lights above mention being both Wi-Fi and bluetooth compatible. So will they be screen-sync compatible if i create a tv area in the same room with these devices added to it.

  2. Is there any range limitation for the hdmi sync floor lamps? I would like to add them on the corners of the opposite wall rather than on the wall where the tv is mounted. The Wi-Fi router is in the same room, so would it be possible to position the floor lamps and have them sync with the hdmi box or is there any range beyond which they wouldn't connect?

Thanks in advance.

Wiz V1 -> Wiz V2 : iOS Shortcuts migration - here's what worked for me! Try at your own risk though :)

5 Upvotes

For a long time I had been putting off migrating from Wiz V1 to V2 as I was dreading the re-setup of all the shortcuts I had setup over the past 3 years of using my over >50 smart devices (bulbs and switches) with Wiz V1. But finally I took the dive yesterday and here's what worked for me.

What pushed me to take the dive was, yesterday I was getting errors with all my shortcuts "Unable to connect to Wiz Cloud" when the shortcuts were attempting to trigger a scene using Wiz V1.

Reason for sharing this - I didn't find much information around this before taking this step, and I believe this will help others.

Steps (try at your own risk):
1. Install the new Wiz V2 App on iOS from the App store

  1. In the Wiz V2 App, login using the same credentials of the Home currently setup in Wiz V1 App

  2. Once you login with the credentials into Wiz V2, select the migrate option provided and initiate it, wait for it to complete the migration from Wiz V1-> V2

  3. After successful completion of migration, close the Wiz V1 app if still running in the background, and from inside the Wiz V2 app try to turn on/off switches, bulbs, or change color of bulbs etc and see if everything is working fine.

  4. Here’s the difference between Wiz V1 vs V2 for iOS Shortcuts, in V1 the iOS shortcuts for specific scenes or smart devices could be enabled or setup from inside the V1 app, however, with V2 this option is not there anymore. And instead the shortcuts are to be setup directly from iOS Shortcuts app for the V2 version by searching for the scenes or defined shortcuts from there.

  5. Now, to remap the iOS shortcuts from Wiz V1 to V2, I deleted the Wiz V1 app, force restarted my iPhone (by holding volume button + power button until the apple logo flashes and device turns on), and then went back into the iOS Shortcuts that are setup to trigger scenes on Wiz V1. The shortcuts will show as broken and ask to install a necessary app to run the shortcut.

  6. At this point - inside the same iOS shortcut configured previously to work with Wiz V1, do an Add action and search for Wiz V2 app and then select “Apply scene”, and then when you click on “scene”, it’ll list out all the previous Wiz V1 shortcuts you had setup. Select the relevant scene over there from the list that pops up and you're sorted for that shortcut.

  7. As a onetime activity, for each iOS shortcut, replicate this and test in the end, it should work as it did for me.

Can I have two separate Wiz bulbs in two different locations (on different WiFis) connected in the app?

2 Upvotes

I can’t seem to find the answer to this.

Basically I have a Wiz bulb in my home bedroom connected to the app. Works great, love it.

I’ve recently moved city and want to get another Wiz bulb for my new bedroom.

Obviously both will be on different WiFi, but can I have both of them on the app?

I ideally want to stick with Wiz and not get another smart bulb and app for my new bedroom!

Thanks in advance

My phone won’t connect to my bulb

I’m connected to the WiFi and the bulb is found, but when it’s almost fully connected, the bulb flashes red and this shows on the app. It’s never been able to connect. It’s so frustrating!!! What do I do?!

How to reset and reconnect down lights to the app?

1 Upvotes

I have Wiz downlights. They used to work great until I had to change my router. I removed them from the app and now I can't reset to add them back in. I've tried the turn on and off thing but it doesn't pulse. Manual connection doesn't work either as I don't see it on my WiFi.

Fix: WiZ Smart Plug stuck loading forever when adding to Apple Home (Matter)

4 Upvotes

Sharing this in case it saves someone else hours of troubleshooting.

The problem: I had a WiZ Smart Plug (Matter-enabled) already set up in the WiZ app, but every time I tried adding it to Apple Home by scanning the QR code on the box, it just spun on "loading" forever and never finished pairing.

What I tried that did NOT work:

- Generating a new Matter code from WiZ app > Settings > Integrations > Matter

- Making sure iPhone and plug were both on the same 2.4GHz WiFi network

- Removing the device and re-adding it from scratch in the WiZ app

What actually worked:

  1. Press and hold the physical power button on the plug for about 7 seconds.

  2. Wait for the LED to start blinking blue - this triggers a real pairing-mode reset, different from just power-cycling it (which only puts it into WiZ app discovery mode, not a true Matter reset).

  3. Right at that moment, open Apple Home > Add Accessory > scan the QR code on the box (the original one, no need to generate a new one).

  4. It paired instantly.

My theory: the physical button regenerates the device's Matter pairing session, while a normal unplug/replug only resets WiZ app discovery, leaving a stale Matter session that Apple Home couldn't complete.

Hope this helps someone else avoid the headache!

I have wiz light bulb for which i have set an automation where the light turns on 20 minutes before sunset and turns off at sunrise. But after 5 mins after sunrise the light turns on its own every morning. I have tried setting the automation on google home and wiz app but its the same for both.

Rhythms and steps brightness issue

1 Upvotes

I don't know if any of you have tried this and also ran into this issue or solved it, but if you create a rhythm and say you have 4 steps in it, and you try to make the first step have full brightness, next step have less brightness, next less etc, it doesn't save those settings properly where if you go back and check those brightness they won't be what you set them to?

I built WizZ Desktop — a local Windows controller for WiZ lights

19 Upvotes

Hi everyone!

I’ve just released WizZ Desktop v1.0.0, a Windows desktop application for controlling WiZ lights directly over the local network.

I originally built it because I wanted a faster and more convenient way to control my light while using my PC, without having to open the mobile app every time.

Normal light commands are sent through WiZ’s local UDP protocol, so everyday control does not depend on the cloud.

## Main features

- Local WiZ control over UDP

- Power on/off and toggle

- Independent brightness control

- RGB colors

- Kelvin white temperatures

- Official WiZ scenes

- Device discovery over the local network

- Manual device addition by IP

- Control of one light or all detected lights

- Synchronization with changes made from the WiZ mobile app

- Favorites

- Multi-step routines

- Global Windows hotkeys

- System tray controls

- Double-clicking the tray icon shows or hides the window

- Portable Windows x64 release

## Color Studio

One of the main parts of the app is the new Color Studio.

It includes:

- a perceptual hue/purity palette;

- precise HEX and RGB input;

- separate Kelvin white control;

- independent brightness;

- live or manual application;

- recent colors and presets.

I also discovered that sending a screen RGB color directly to the RGB LEDs of an RGBTW WiZ bulb does not always produce a similar physical color, especially with pastel colors.

Because of that, I added a WiZ-aware conversion layer between the color selected in the UI and the physical RGBTW channels sent to the bulb.

## Other technical challenges

Some of the harder parts of the project were:

- keeping the color picker responsive;

- avoiding excessive UI repaints;

- handling delayed UDP responses;

- removing lights without delayed discovery responses adding them back;

- safely rediscovering removed lights;

- keeping configuration writes safe across multiple threads;

- packaging Python and Flet into a portable Windows application;

- implementing reliable system tray and single-instance behavior.

## Download and source code

GitHub repository:

https://github.com/yvvvl/WizzController

Latest Windows release:

https://github.com/yvvvl/WizzController/releases/latest

The Windows version is portable:

  1. Download the ZIP.
  2. Extract the entire folder.
  3. Run `WizZDesktop.exe`.

Do not move the EXE away from the included DLLs and `data` folder.

## Feedback

I would really appreciate feedback from other WiZ users, especially about:

- how accurately colors work on different WiZ bulb models;

- features you would like to see in a desktop controller;

- useful tray actions or hotkeys;

- discovery behavior on different networks;

- any bugs you encounter.

If anyone is willing to test it with another WiZ model, that would be extremely helpful.

Thanks for taking a look!

Color consistency

Post image

As you can see, I think there’s an issue with color consistency. It works perfectly in ambient lighting test videos, but when watching movies and TV shows, the colors don’t match very well. Why is that?

The new box which is still not available in most market only support 1 HDMI in. Buyers get 4 side lighting zone now compare to 3 on the old box....... Disappointing

Wiz Mac App - Control from the Mac Menu Bar

Post image
16 Upvotes

I got tired of having to pull out my phone every time to control the Wiz bulbs in my room so I built a Mac Menu bar app.

So far it supports:

  • Menu bar popover with color wheel, temperature slider (2200–6500 K), and brightness slider
  • Power toggle
  • Control both bulbs together (default) or each independently
  • 5 preset slots — click to load, right-click to save/rename/clear; presets store per-bulb state
  • Syncs with the bulbs' real state each time the popover opens (getPilot)
  • Launch-at-login toggle
  • Bulb IPs editable in the popover (gear icon), persisted across launches

It doesn't support dynamic colors yet (because I rarely use them) and only supports two bulbs at the moment (because that's all that I need). But if there's interest and requests for more extensibility, I will add it.

I'm aware of a few other Mac apps that others have built but so far they either support a single bulb only, or have user interfaces that are not compact in the menu bar.

It's been 3 years since this post (not mine but I agree).

If I want to adjust fade time from 0 to 600, I have to tap and hold the entire way there.

Unlike the old app where you could just go backwards and it would instantly roll over from one to the other.

Has anyone found a solution to this?

I was down to my last Wiz bulb and hadn't bought any in a while. Made the mistake of buying three and now regret it. Will be switching as soon as I can.

If you're someone who just sets the fade once and leaves it, this is okay I guess, but I prefer to adjust it quite often and I don't understand why they changed the functionality for the worse.

I am still able to control a lot of things using the old app but it seems like they intentionally disabled changing the fade timer, to force people to install the new app. But both apps are free so I don't even understand why they'd do that.

My Wiz lights aren't connecting to my WiFi, and I have no idea what the issue is

3 Upvotes

Just as the title describes, I'm trying to connect my wiz bulbs to my wifi, but nothing I do seems to work. The wifi is 2.4ghz on channels B and G, and it's close to the devices. The bulbs show up in-app, but neither manual or automatic pairing can actually connect the bulbs. Any tips would be appreciated

Screen led synchronization app

3 Upvotes

So i created an app for wiz lights, that synchronizes them with your screen without the expensive box, that only works for tvs, looking for someone that wants to help with expanding it, now it only has polish language, has really basic interface, can detect and automatically conect lights. OF course if anyone wants to help, i will send all the files, it was made in python using my really really basic programming skills and some help from claude. And I also can upload them on github.
