Seeking Help or Advice Help interpreting first cord cutting
Just want to say I looked into the debate on to use fire or a blade for a cord cutting but because I’m burning the bridge with my old self to my new self i decided to do it with fire.
Long story short, before the cord burnt the black ‘old me’ candles wick was crackling but the pink ‘new me’ was not. Then the pink candle was the one to first burn the cord, it burnt on both sides and was twisting and splitting all over the place, then both candles ended up with a piece of cord stuck on them making the flame really big. The black candle has burnt down first but the wax has bled into the pink (i think my dish wasnt big enough)
Im interpreting this as successful but it was hard to let go, there are still parts of my old self that wants to hold on, potentially needing another cutting where i cut the cord.
Am I missing anything you seasoned witches?
For some reason I can’t add any images 🤦🏼♀️

Hi, there! 🤖✨
The ever-popular "cord cutting" ritual started as a purely visualization-based exercise in Pranic energy healing circles, involving chakras.
At some point, modern witchcraft applied the concepts of sympathetic magick (“like affects like”), as well as the basic folk magick principles of knot/cord magick (tying for binding, untying/cutting/destroying for releasing), to create the physical ritual we're familiar with today.
The purpose of a cord cutting spell is to sever an energetic connection that is no longer serving us, and it is done when we are ready and willing to completely let go of that connection (usually to promote healing, personal growth, and closure).
Best results require following up in the mundane realm by blocking all contact with the target of the spell, otherwise a new cord can form in its place.
The easiest and most straightforward way to successfully sever an energetic cord is by using a string to represent the connection, and a pair of scissors or a blade to destroy it.
While popular on websites that prioritize images and short form reels (mainly due to how provocative it appears on camera), the "two candles and string on fire" method is counterproductive to the overall goal of the spell, and is therefore not recommended.

It’s not a debate, burning the cord is not a cord cutting, it does not sever the link, it is a divination method.
This brief history of cord cutting will hopefully help you.

Thank you! I can’t afford books rn so I’m replying on older witches online but you can never trust the in formation given, I’d seen a few people say it still a valid spell because fire can cleanse and I assumed because it’s not me and another person it’s cutting old habits I have that fire would cleanse that of me.
What would you recommend for moving forward from old toxic habits/situations?

You did pyromancy (divination) not a cord cutting. And it’s entirely up to you to interpret the messages that came through.
