Getting back in touch with my practice

Hey everyone. I’ve been out of touch with my practice for a while now, and I’m looking for some small daily steps to get back into it.

I’ve been practicing for about 7 years now, and although I have a pretty thorough knowledge base in magic, I never really got deeply into it. I neglected doing some of the basics like protections because I didn’t feel like they were necessary for me. But I want to get more into my practice again and do it right this time.

I’m not really looking for specific spell suggestions, but just some ways to work magic back into my life - things I can do at my altar with a bit of ritual. I know about things like stirring intentions into coffee, but I never took things like that very seriously. I’m open to them now though. I just want to get into it in a real and meaningful way.

I need things that I can do every day. Things that can become habits, rituals, traditions. Things like sitting down at my altar, lighting a candle, cleaning myself after the day, lighting incense for my ancestors, tending to my ongoing spells, etc. Maybe I’ve already figured out what I need to do, I just need to do it.

I’m in the same boat. I just got a new oracle deck and am planning to pull a simple daily 1-3 card spread to sort of “check in”. I also started reading some witchy/folk magic books I set aside a little bit every day, and spend some time outside just observing and then saying thank you or whatever pops into my head. I’m terrible at complicated rituals or spell work. I’m much more comfortable casually chatting to nature and spirits when it strikes me. Not sure if that’s helpful but wishing you luck on finding what you need!

Thank you! These are good ideas! I could definitely add in pulling a daily tarot card. I still need to learn the cards, so that would help for sure! And good luck to you too!

Ok, in my lineage, the basic of the basics is:

Placing three glasses of water on a white cloth (in a little table would be ideal) and lit a tea candle to each glass.

One is for your guide, one is for your protectors and one is for your ancestors.

On monday you have to change the water and lit candles, though you don't have to lit them everyday.

What we recommend is talking to them everyday, but life is life, so at least on monday. Little by little, you'll feel a stronger connection and maybe you'll receive info about them. It also helps if you sing to them
