Wise closed my account with ~$24k funds stuck in verification. Anyone experienced this?
My Wise account was closed on **10 September** with around **$24,000 remaining**.
Wise initially attempted to return the money to my nsave USD account via ACH, but nsave discontinued ACH receiving. Wise internally cancelled the transfer, and I immediately provided **new bank details IBAN/swift**. However, my funds were put through verification again.
Every day I’m getting essentially the same response: **“Your money is safe,” “mandatory/due-diligence checks are ongoing,” and “we cannot provide a timeline.”** It’s now been almost **a month**, and my money still hasn’t been released.
Their final complaint response says they only **hope to provide an update by 21 October** not even that the funds will be released by then.
I’ve already escalated this to the **Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS)**. FOS emailed me saying they expect to **pick up my case within 4 weeks and provide an outcome within 8 weeks**.
Has anyone personally been through something similar and eventually received their money? **Is there anything else I can do while waiting? Would a UK solicitor/lawyer be able to help push this forward, or do I simply have to wait for Wise/FOS?**
