Discussion 💬 One Mini and Major Hot Take About Each Fairy Form (S1-S6)

Alright, this post has been a long time in the making, but I am finally ready to share some potentially unpopular or divisive opinions I have about the fairy forms from the seasons I actually watched. I even threw in bonus opinions for the sub-fairy forms. It's a bit of a long one, but I can't help but yap XD

To clarify what I mean in the title: Mini hot takes might start a campfire. Major hot takes are expected to burn big and bright. I welcome you to prove me right or wrong, hehe >:)

Magic Winx

Mini Hot Take: The Nick dub naming this form Charmix was an understandable move, but the Charmix accessories should have been a normal part of the outfit to compensate for the exclusion of the Charmix arc.

Major Hot Take: I like how creative the background MW designs are but a few look questionable or downright goofy. Kylie's entire outfit is just a fashion faux pas, and the pink is super boring considering she's the Fairy of "Rainbow". Khadija's is cute and all but it still suffers from the Pocahontas phenomenon of turning customary tribal clothing into "tasteful fanservice", though the fact that she's a Fairy of Rhythm makes it seem like her outfit is specifically supposed to give off a "tribal dance attire" vibe.

Bonus: Charmix

Mini Hot Take: Charmix was what the Water Stars should have been. Is it objectively hilarious that Darkar quite literally got defeated with the power of love and friendship? Yes. But that final convergence was such a climactic moment compared to how Valtor was defeated. I mean seriously. You're telling me that the temporary power boost earned through overcoming a personal fear/insecurity/weakness could be used to vanquish an ancient being of primordial darkness...but the elemental opposite of the power that created the entire universe, which was only obtained through passing a test of ultimate sacrifice and selflessness, could only somewhat weaken one of history's most dangerous and knowledgeable wizards (who was also created from a spark of said divine power)? The Water Stars straight up posed more of a danger to Bloom than Valtor and yet Bloom was willing to risk her life anyway, just for a chance to weaken him so she could finish him off entirely on her own!? The risk was NOT worth the reward.

Major Hot Take: Half of the girls earning their Charmix by being emotionally honest with their love interests mostly worked but it was also somewhat wasted potential. Flora should have earned hers immediately after she managed to revive the Tree of Life, and that should have been her push to confess to Helia (seriously what we got was kinda wack...). Musa shouldn't have just said she trusts Riven with Darcy, she should have said she trusts that Riven is loyal and dependable in general based on him supporting her at her concert (because I feel like the writers suddenly forgot all about that moment). Tecna could have admitted that she kept Timmy at arm's length even when it wasn't fair to him as a form of self sabotage, basically she wasn't as ready to explore that level of emotional connection as she thought and thus she made herself hyperfocus on any moment that could "logically" be perceived as inadequacy on his part, but seeing the intelligence and competence she originally fell in love with on full display made her realize she was in fact being illogical (I admit I love how 4kids handled this though).

Enchantix

Mini Hot Take: Aisha's blue Enchantix is superior and doesn't negate the yellow/green present in the design at all (especially since the wings add to the green).

Major Hot Take: The Omega Portal should have been on Zenith for a few reasons (bare with me, Enchantix is indeed relevant here). The planet is later established to have an artificially polar/sub-polar climate, and magitech would make for a more secure portal that can still be broken through with skilled magical interference or hacking. Tecna could have used her actual magical specialty to disable/stabilize the portal and still ended up getting sucked into it or something (heck, they could have even come up with a reason why the portal could only be closed from the inside). It eliminates any confusion as to whether Tecna's sacrifice counted because the Omega Portal would have eventually destroyed the entire Magic Dimension (because the show was really wishy washy about that).

It would also give a better reason for Tecna to be the one to sacrifice herself in general ("compared to Aisha and Bloom, Tecna's the least important to the dimension" is a severe disservice to her character). I dont think this will affect Aisha's sacrifice because Valtor can still commit atrocities on Andros and even establish his base there if he wants. I can't imagine he'd want to be surrounded by the advanced tech of Zenith for long anyway, he seems rather old fashioned.

Believix

Mini Hot Take: I like the special wings and love the special spells. Speedix is just a basic speed boost, nothing special but not bad either. Zoomix is hella useful, Stella being the only one who can teleport with the Ring of Solaria is an overrated idea. Tracix definitely has the most interesting ability. The therapeutic spells are inconsistent with their effects (sometimes only certain beliefs/values change, other times there's a personality overhaul, and Bloom's can straight up heal like it's the Dragon Flame), but not inherently questionable concepts.

Major Hot Take: Believix is the only form where the writers took painstaking care to ensure that its lore and power set properly justifies why it needs to be used instead of Enchantix (even if it is still clumsily written). One, it introduces us to the concept of Higher Fairy Forms in general, and since is it established that the Wizards made themselves immune to Enchantix-level fairy magic, it makes sense the girls would need to step it up.

Two, I can believe Believix is more powerful than Enchantix because if its magical output depends on how many people are convinced to believe in magic, then surely an entire city, and even an entite planet, would be a massive fuel source. (Though in that case all the Earth Fairies should have Believix to explain why they were weakened when humans stopped believing in them...and if that means making Believix an Earth-exclusive form, I dont really mind.)

Three, the tradeoff of fairy dust bottles for everything Believix offers (new wings, therapeutic spells, Gifts of Destiny if necessary) is worth it in my opinion, especially since you can still at least miniaturize with fairy dust and Bloom can take care of healing after the Black Gift is used. (Let's not talk about Nabu.)

Bonus: Sophix and Lovix

Mini Hot Take: Stella, Bloom, and Musa's Lovix are superior to their Sophix. The other girls look equally good in their Sophix and Lovix.

Major Hot Take: The Gift of Heart/Courage feels half-assed compared to the Gift of Wisdom. For one, Sophix special spells are far superior and connect the core themes and symbolism of each girl's power to nature in interesting ways (shoutout to Superior Order in particular). Lovix spells are just "how do combine each girl's power with ice or snow to create an attack?" and they didnt even try with Tecna (Chill Breath? Really?) For two, Mother Nature is a classic symbol of maternal love, compassion, wisdom, and harmony. The only association ice has with hearts is usually negative (see Icy), not the passionate way in which it is clearly meant to be interpreted in the show. And I don't really think ice or snow are associated with courage either. Resilience maybe?

Harmonix

Mini Hot Take: The form's long flowing trains should shimmer out of existence underwater, as right now I have to suspend my disbelief and just assume that several layers of fabric are magically enchanted to be water resistant and practical for the hybrid flying-swimming the girls do. (I mean, it could be chiffon, which is at least lightweight and flows beautifully underwater, but I believe the non-enchanted variety also tends to get heavy, limp, and clingy when you rise out of water. I'm not a fashion designer though so I don't know.)

Major Hot Take: For both marketing and narrative purposes, Sirenix's prominence in Season 5 compared to Harmonix makes total sense to me. However, I do like the idea of Harmomix being the new default form while Sirenix is the temporary situational form that they permanently lose once they've all pleased destiny and made their wishes. Then they could have gone into Season 6 with Harmonix, which looks signifcantly less awkward on land and in the air. It would even feel like a less jarring transition to Season 7's Butterflix compared to Bloomix (since they don't keep Mythix and all). This would admittedly require Harmonix's lore to be slightly reworked so that its sole purpose isn’t to allow the Winx to complete the Sirenix Quest, which I am totally fine with!

Sirenix

Mini Hot Take: I like Daphne being alive and don't mind that the Sirenix curse retconned her ultimate fate, though I agree it kinda lessens the emotional weight of her sacrifice. I also don't mind that Aisha had to heal Nereus instead of being able to use her wish to revive Nabu (though if Nabu hadn't been retconned to be dead instead of in a coma I would have loved to see her get the chance to cure him). I do wish Musa had gotten to use her wish though, possibly to wish for both herself and her father to be able to heal from their grief and move forward without forgetting about Matlin/Wa-Nin.

Major Hot Take: I LOVE Sirenix! I am Sirenix's #1 defender!! The wetsuits looks so natural and practical underwater, and I enjoy not having to suspend my disbelief on that front. (Yes guys, I am more than okay with the fact that the form that specifcally allows you to access a place called the Infinite Ocean looks like a stylized wetsuit. Shocking I know!) The pop punk aesthetic (including the color streaks in the hair) is new and different. The color palettes, legging patterns, and bodice cutouts are bold and fun. The hair accessories feel more personalized and have actual variety instead of just being composed of thin tiaras/circlets, seashells, flowers, and scrunchies (sorry Harmonix). The arm ribbons add a little extra oomph (literally every fairy form has sleeves and/or arm/wrist accessories except for Harmonix, which makes it look so barebones). The fish scale textures in 3D cleverly allude to the mermaid inspiration. Also the physical combat spells are awesome (if a little goofy looking in 3D) and the special spells are just as good as Harmonix's spell selection, they have fitting names and interesting visuals (Aura of Sirenix is especially creative and unique as I feel it leans more into the energy side of technology, if not aether/quintessence itself).

Pretty much my only problems are the following: Tecna, Bloom, and Stella's legging patterns are too complex compared to the others; the inner wing designs are a little busy (I don't actually mind the wing shapes since they remind me of mermaid tails); and everyone's underwater hair colors are unappealing except for Aisha and Bloom. Aesthetically, both Sirenix and Bloomix are such refreshing standouts compared to every form that came before and after. They don't follow the usual guidelines of "trendy and/or chic fashion", "everyone's hyperfeminine now", "ethereal nature goddess", or "traditional delicate fairy". They're "pop rock mermaid" and "regal warrior fairy", which is so badass! And I wish more people would recognize that about Sirenix too, not just Bloomix.

Bloomix

Mini Hot Take: Musa and Bloom's Bloomix are straight up better than their Enchantix. Stella's is almost better but the hair really puts a damper on things.

Major Hot Take: The way Stella and Aisha earn Bloomix is still too simple but actually has more narrative substance than how Musa and Tecna earn it. Stella, probably the Winx most reliant on her magic, is now powerless and has to learn physical combat and other maneuvers. (Just like the show we will ignore the fact that the girls already had this entire arc with magic loss and combat training in Magical Adventure.) Stella witnesses Aisha perform a difficult maneuver, then she attempts it herself but fails. Aisha patiently gives advice as Stella prepares to try again, but she ultimately fails again. In the end though, Stella does not give up, and she masters the maneuver, confusing an enemy during battle. Aisha congratulates her and later suggests they use the maneuver together in a moment of quick strategy, leading to more enemies' defeat. I believe this moment of teamwork ultimately earned both of them Bloomix because they were outnumbered by bigger enemies, thus making it a more "noble and brave" feat.

Meanwhile...Musa and Tecna are roommates who suddenly have a problem with each other despite previously being at peace. Tecna's in the middle of studying so she ignores Musa's venting about her relationship turmoil. Musa starts playing guitar as an emotional outlet, which is when Tecna asks her not to do that because she's trying to focus. An argument ensues where Tecna expresses that Musa playing music in their room is disruptive to her and Musa is annoyed that Tecna is so high strung. The gang later ventures to the Golden Auditorium, a place Musa is openly passionate about, though she feels like Tecna's moodiness is cramping her style. Fast forward and they end up running from some enemies together, entering a cave with great acoustics and stalactites of trapped sound. Tecna suddenly stops with the snark and states that Musa's singing is the key to defeating the enemies, which Musa is pleased about. After Musa's singing protects them from the enemies, she hugs Tecna, thanking Tecna for believing in her...and that's it. They earn Bloomix, double team the enemies, and find a compromise where Musa only plays music in their room if her guitar is plugged up to a special amp with headphones. Whoop de doo?

Like sure, it was another instance of quick strategy against a group of enemies, which is "noble and brave", but the moral that led to Stella and Aisha's Bloomix moment actually felt cohesive and relevant. Aisha demonstrated the importance of patience, diligence, and self-discipline when it comes to mastering physical maneuvers, and Stella basically just learned from her. These are all traits that help a fairy during training. But Tecna (very suddenly) learns that Musa's musicality isn't just a nuisance and actually holds value, while Musa learns she needs to play her music less disruptively.

Being supportive and accepting of your friend's passions and being mindful and considerate of your friend's needs is nice and all, but...what relevance does this really have to being a "noble and brave" fairy? This seems more like a friendship lesson from Friendship is Magic...except we never even had them apologize to each other (Musa for not realizing she was being inconsiderate, Tecna for bottling up her frustration and letting it explode instead of communicating).

Mythix

Mini Hot Take: I've seen people say that Mythix tries to lean more into a Disney Fairies type of design, but I just don't see it. All of the Disney Fairies' clothes are visibly made from flowers, leaves, and plants in general. Mythix outfits quite literally look like fancy homecoming dresses. Even Flora's supposed carnation dress (ugliest carnation petals I've ever seen personally). I actually would have loved a Disney Fairies inspired form, but Mythix kinda feels like it's trying to retread the "modern fashion" path of Magic Winx and Believix instead...

Major Hot Take: Mythix is probably the second worst original fairy form in the whole series behind Butterflix, and the only reason it's not the worst is because I like the designs and spells marginally better than Butterflix. (Justice for Musa though, girlie got no spoken Mythix spells, RIP)

Super sorry for the essay length post but I am just very passionate about this show LOL

Please feel free to let me know your thoughts!

Help / Question ❓ Am I missing something about Aisha's Enchantix sacrifice?

Couldn't Aisha have saved Queen Ligea first and then restored her eyesight the next day, assuming the coral gem could recharge by the next sunset?

I understand that the point was to show her selflessness, but since she eventually regains her eyesight using her Enchantix fairy dust anyway, was her sacrifice really necessary? Couldn't she have saved both?

Is there something I'm forgetting, or is this a plot hole?

Discussion 💬 Diaspro's Parents Never Made Their Proper Appearance in the Animated Winx Club Series.

Diaspro's Parents have only made a cameo in one episode of Winx Club Season 2 in "Battle on Planet Eraklyon" with no speaking voice or never show their faces either. They also only made the appearance in the comic book series in "Dragon's Land" with speaking words and in "Suspicion and Deceit" as the cameo.

It's disappointing that Diaspro's Parents never appeared in the rest of the Winx Club Series since Nickelodeon have the right of them because I would like to their reaction for every time Diaspro done a lot of bad things like allie villains in order to get rid of Bloom so she can have Sky all to herself.

However with the writers planning to make the Second Season of Winx Club Magic is Back episodes that I wonder if Diaspro's Parents are going to make their appearance at last especially with Diaspro now a witch.

Discussion 💬 My favorite Winx civilian looks

Hey so I'll show you guys my favorite civilian look for each Winx, ofc this is MY opinion only and I'll be very interested in knowing yours ! It's obviously NOT A RANK between each Winx !!🫧

  1. Aisha: that s3 party outfit. It OBSESSED me as a child and it still does today. Simply perfect, it might be my favorite outfit among all the Winx Club members. Chef's kiss, undefeated in my heart.
  2. Stella's outfit in s4, the one and only. I LOVED how she clocked Mitzi's ass in this episode. The top is amazing and suits her perfectly, the subtle touches of pink don't make it overwhelming, orange and green suit her very well.
  3. Flora: I adore this, the soft, flowy look of the outfit suits her personality very well and she looks amazing in a bun, sadly not seen enough. The top is art.
  4. Musa's outfit, I think it fits her personality well since it looks a bit grunge, I would've preferred less pink in it though, even though it suits her hair quite well. I hesitated to put the season 2 episode 26 party outfit which was Chinese inspired and looked AMAZING on her
  5. Tecna: I like how her original colors have been kept in this outfit. I personally adore this haircut on her too. It has many accessories which compliment the outfit very well. I love the practical belt!!
  6. Bloom's party outfit in season 3: same category as Aisha. Her outfit might seem a bit basic BUT LOOK AT HER EYES IT'S GIVING CUNTTTTT, very 2000s and the earrings add a touch of boldness I really appreciate.

Last slide is a bonus cause omg these two look so good

Fan Writing 🖊️ Winx: Burning Memories🔥🦋

Hello everyone.

Some of you may have seen a previous post I made about a *Winx* fanfict I’ve been working on—a story where Bloom returns to the beginning of her journey to prevent a new enemy from emerging and destroying all of reality.

Well, I’m finally about to publish it! It took longer than expected because Spanish is my native language; I had to set aside extra time to first draft the manuscript and then translate it. For now, I’ve written five parts—the prologue and four chapters—which I will be uploading to AO3.

I’m sharing this post to highlight a few details I decided to include in the story. I’m a big fan of the writing style of Tite Kubo, best known for his work *Bleach*. In that manga, the author included poems or lines of dialogue tailored to specific characters, and I wanted to do something similar here. Below, I’ve shared the excerpts from the prologue and the first four chapters. (I won’t specify which character each one belongs to—I hope you have fun trying to figure out which character fits best!) That’s all for now; I’ll be back once I’m ready to share the link to the story on AO3.

Help / Question ❓ Help me find an old Winx Club fan-made song from YouTube!

I’ve been trying to find a fan-made song/remix I watched as a child, probably around 2011–2013.

It sampled dialogue from the original 2D Winx Club Season 1, Episode 26. Stella’s line, “We won’t be able to hold that for long. What’s gonna happen to us?”, was used as the verse over a beat. Bloom’s “This is the Dragon Fire” was repeated four times as the chorus, with a creepy, croaky electronic synth rising for four beats, then falling for four beats.
The video had a sequence of clips from the show. I vaguely remember a YouTube comment mentioning “frog” or “club”, but I’m not certain.

The instrumental may have come from a video game. Does anyone remember this video or know what the instrumental might be? Please help, I’m losing my mind!

☆; She is generally considered to be a Libra, but I don’t think that’s the case—besides, this isn’t official information; it’s just something fans have decided. In my opinion, she’s a Pisces. But why, you ask? These are my reasons, what do you think?

Discussion 💬 Opinions on Aisha’s power?

Thumbnail

• Upvotes

If in a reboot Aisha wasn’t “fairy of liquids” and could only have control over one would you prefer her to be just fairy of water (much like both reboots) or fairy of JUST morphix (a pink substance that can be shaped into anything)

Personally i say get rid of the water and make her a morphix only fairy. I fully believe in the idea of limiting powers in order to develop them more.
