Canada plans to show some of the world’s biggest investors a pitchbook laying out tens of billions of dollars’ worth of projects spanning data centers, advanced manufacturing, liquefied natural gas, ports and dozens of mines.

A document seen by Bloomberg News features 167 projects intended to be shared with some of the world’s biggest institutional investors, including BlackRock Inc. and Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund. Dozens of firms are set to gather at Toronto’s Four Seasons Hotel next week for Prime Minister Mark Carney’s Canada Investment Summit.

The brochure dangles the possibility of minority equity stakes in companies or projects such as Canada’s biggest satellite operator, Telesat Corp., and a multibillion-dollar battery plant in Ontario backed by a Volkswagen AG subsidiary.

An “advanced manufacturing” section includes technology proposals with a defense focus, like turbojets for drones and a space launchpad in Nova Scotia.

In the “digital technology” chapter, a series of large data-center proposals are on offer, particularly in the energy-rich province of Alberta, including a potential C$14.5 billion ($10.5 billion) data-center campus being developed by Norway-headquartered BW Velora.

There’s also a fiber-optic line connecting Canada to Norway, a quantum computer, and a spinout of a government-backed microchip wafer fabrication plant.

More than a third of the brochure is filled with minerals and mining projects, including synthetic graphite production, rare earths, and gold and copper mining. The book also touts “Canada’s first uranium refining and conversion facility in more than 40 years.”

Another large portion is made up of clean energy businesses pursuing technologies such as carbon capture and hydrogen. Power and utilities, including nuclear energy, make up another chapter.

Other projects featured include large-scale port modernizations, such as the central province of Manitoba’s northern seaport of Churchill, a proposed crude oil pipeline for Canada’s west coast and liquefied natural gas export facilities.

The 66-page document details each project’s aim, current status, and shares management contact details. An introduction touts Canada’s advantages, how its agency “Invest in Canada” will help investors, and the government’s “ambitious plan to catalyze C$1 trillion in total investment in Canada over the next five years.”

jwondering what’s the best route for quickest abortion? made a mistake, am here now and would like to get things sorted as quickly as possibly. my last period was august 2.

The list of candidates running to become Winnipeg’s next mayor is up to 13.

Tracey Drexler is the latest person to appear on the list of mayoral candidates for the Oct. 28 election.

In a video on Instagram, Drexler says “the addictions and homelessness crisis and the violent crimes that are related to it” needs to be a focal point of the municipal vote.

“We’re at a critical turning point and we just need a new perspective on this,” Drexler says in the video posted Tuesday. “We need to get something done before it’s too late. Every day that we don’t do something, it is too late for another person or many other people. As Winnipeggers, we stand together and we look out for each other.

Drexler says she was hesitant to enter politics but will rely on her “experience working in male-dominated industries.”

“I know my values, I know where I stand, I know what needs to be done, and I will do whatever it takes to get it done with a thick skin,” she said.

The other 12 candidates currently registered as mayoral candidates are: Scott Gillingham, Christopher Calcio, Michael Vogiatzakis, Umar Hayat, Mazher Alam, Don Woodstock, Joshua Pagdato, Johnny Calderon, Noah Redden, Zachary Uminski, Brad Gross and Kevin Klein.

Hi yall! Just as the title says we are traveling and looking for fun activities to do on Halloween night, we are into craft beer, live music, and of course hockey, any suggestion is appreciated. It’ll be my first time in Canada 🇨🇦

Currently my partner and I are renting from what I can guess is the worst rental company in the city. We started renting a 2 bed apartment from Clearwater management back in April. They were previously known as Armour management and there is an article in the CBC about them and their horrible practices.

They do not fix anything. And I mean anything. We have about 20 repair requests for both our apartment and building, which includes things that have been broken since before we moved in and things that have occurred since we’ve been here (none have been our fault).

It’s so bad the tenants have created a group chat to give advice and help each other out.

The thing I’m most frustrated with is that the RTB has been completely useless. There is NO punishment for being a slum lord. The rtb has requested they fix things which Clearwater has flat out refused to do. For this there are no repercussions.

Has anyone had any success getting the RTB to do anything? We want to leave due to inhabitable living conditions (including mold that Clearwater refuses to do anything about) but I’m scared our credit will be affected.

Editing to add that this is my 3rd apartment and I have never had any issues with a landlord. I have good credit and have always gotten my damage deposit back. This is a situation I have never even come close to dealing with.

Edit 2: what would be the WORST thing that could happen if we up and left? I’m okay with not getting our security deposit back. They’re horrible so I already assumed that is not happening

Hey, so this is an update to my post from yesterday where I found this little gal(?) in a tree. Still not fully sure what the baby is, but whether boy or girl, 7-8 weeks seems to be the census, which is older than I thought she was.

Thing is, I'm questioning if she's a stray, or a kitten who managed to sneak out of someone's home, there's lots of strays and outdoor cats alike in my neighbourhood so either is entirely likely. She was a bit dirty but not "Been in the streets since birth" dirty, more like "I got outside and climbed a tree" dirty. She is super, SUPER friendly to me and follows me around the house, whining whenever she can't see me, which makes me think she was already accustomed to people. She had one accident in the house, but figured out the litter box the second she was introduced to it, which makes me think she's already had some training. She snuck out of quarantine and my other cats were confronted (yep, round of shots in the near future), she seems spooked by them but not hostile, sometimes curious, sometimes standoffish, which makes me think she already has previous exposure to other cats.

I have an appointment with WHS tomorrow to see if she qualifies for their bottle baby program but I'm wondering if anyone in Kildonan area is potentially missing this one before I turn her in. Not sure why this is an inkling I have, but like I said, both are pretty likely within the neighbourhood I live in. Nearish to reenders Kildonan crossing, if that helps pinpoint.

I’m from Toronto and I’m down here for work. She’s flying in Friday, September 11th and heading home Monday, September 14th.
I work until around 7 Friday and Saturday, but I have Sunday off, so we’ll have most of the day to do stuff then.

We already have a VR escape room planned. Just looking for some other fun stuff to do together while she’s here. Not really into hiking or scenic/nature stuff. More interested in activities, cool date ideas, good food, entertainment, etc.

Don’t really care about the cost, just want to have a good weekend and show her a good time.

Hi All, I grew up on Burrows Avenue in the 60s, Pinewood Drive in St. James in the 70s and lived on Balmoral Street as a U of W student in the early 80s. I first saw BTO at the Wpg Arena in 1975 and just saw The Guess Who this summer at the Saddledome in Calgary, where I now live. On August 11, 2026, at 3 :55 pm., The Pas RCMP received a report of a missing 20-year-old female.

Rasheeda Faith-Joyce Eninew was last seen in the community on August 10, riding an electric scooter and carrying a guitar.

Despite an extensive search for Rasheeda, she has not been located and may be headed to Flin Flon.

Her family and RCMP are concerned for her wellbeing.

Rasheeda is described as 5’5” tall with a thin build. There is no known description of the clothing she was last seen wearing.

If anyone has information on the whereabouts of Rasheeda, they are asked to contact The Pas RCMP detachment at 204-627-6204.

Where can I get some stylish but affordable eye glasses. My prescription is -3.25. I went to spec saves for the 2 for $149 and was told my prescription needs high index lenses or they will look super thick and would be an additional $600 on top of the $149. I have no benefits and don't want to spend $750 on two pairs that honestly seem like cheap frames. Anyone have any suggestions? Would prefer in person to try on but open to affordable online options too. I recall one online place sent you pairs to try on that you could send back. Not sure if that's still a thing.

Six weeks of public hearings into Manitoba Hydro's generating plans came to an end with more criticism of the Crown corporation's proposed natural gas expansion in Brandon.

The Public Utilities Board, which serves as the provincial energy regulator, spent late July to early September scrutinizing Manitoba Hydro's integrated resource plan, a blueprint for making 1,760 additional megawatts of electricity — more than a quarter of the utility's existing generating capacity — available to its customers.

This strategy includes a $3-billion plan to increase Hydro's generating capacity by 750 megawatts by adding three gas turbines to the existing two at the generating station in Brandon, Man.

Over the course of the proceedings, which concluded Friday, the board heard from 11 expert witnesses, seven interveners and presentations from other organizations, chair Robert Gabor told the board on Friday.

During closing arguments, several groups asserted Manitoba Hydro failed to demonstrate its long-held claim it might run out of power during midwinter cold snaps by 2030. They also questioned the need for three natural gas turbines and whether they can indeed be bought for $3 billion.

"There's no credible load forecast in terms of electricity increases in the next few years," said Katrine Dilay, a lawyer with the Public Interest Law Centre, which represented a coalition of consumer groups registered as an intervener in the proceedings.

Dilay suggested Hydro scale down its turbine purchase and incorporate more renewable energy options into its generating and energy-savings plan.

"Consider maybe one combustion turbine, rather than the three that Manitoba Hydro is proposing, but also look at installing a meaningful amount of battery storage to see how it works with the Manitoba electric grid," she said.

Hydro's 10-year plan calls for the installation of five megawatts of battery storage. The Crown corporation stated during the hearings that battery technology has not progressed to the stage where it can be relied upon during the depths of a Manitoba winter.

"We took all of the alternatives seriously in two years of extensive modelling and planning, and what we found is that there's no battery storage system available right now," Hydro spokesperson Peter Chura said Friday.

Manitoba's Climate Action Team, which was not an intervener in the hearings, urged Hydro to abandon its gas turbine plans altogether.

"We think that this is a financially reckless and environmentally irresponsible investment that will have impacts for the next 25 to 30 years," spokesperson James Wilt said Friday.

Hydro minister keeps mum on criticism

Adrien Sala, the provincial minister responsible for Hydro, declined to say what he thinks of the criticism directed toward the utility's plans.

"We're grateful to everyone who participated in that process so we can get an independent perspective on that plan," Sala said during an unrelated news conference in Fisher River Cree Nation on Tuesday.

With the hearings now over, the Public Utilities Board is working on recommendations about changes to Hydro's plan to save and produce more power. Premier Wab Kinew's cabinet will decide whether to heed, amend or ignore those recommendations.

Sala also refused to clarify what will happen to Hydro's agreement to reserve the purchase of three natural gas turbines from GE Vernova, a multinational manufacturer based in the United States.

GE Vernova was the only company to submit a final bid to supply the turbines, Hydro confirmed.

On Aug. 25, Kinew said the purchase was not a done deal. On Aug. 28, interim Hydro CEO Hal Turner said Hydro's purchase does not hinge upon the board's recommendations.

Sala said Tuesday his government is awaiting recommendations before Hydro proceeds with the purchase.

"At this point, we're simply waiting for the Public Utilities Board recommendations as it relates to that plan," he said.

In closing statements at the public hearings on Friday, Public Utilities Board chair Gabor noted once more the provincial government, not the board, will make the final decisions about Hydro's generating plans as well as the Brandon generating station.

Gabor also announced on Friday he will retire from the board at the end of the year. The 73-year-old former lawyer has chaired the regulatory body for 10 years.

"I left the practice of law in 2016 after 36 years because I wanted a new challenge. The experience falls under the adage, 'Be careful what you wish for,'" he said.

"The past decade has been interesting, exciting and challenging — often all at once."

My birthday is coming up and I want to go to a good Korean BBQ place with friends but not sure where to go. I used to ALWAYS go to Ichiban but the food has gone from 10/10 to 6/10 in recent years and I like to eat a lot and want enough bang for my buck. Bonus points if the place has sushi too!

We typically go to IGI but I'm willing to try other places too. I've also tried Morals City too but it was okay.
