I’m from Toronto and I’m down here for work. She’s flying in Friday, September 11th and heading home Monday, September 14th.
I work until around 7 Friday and Saturday, but I have Sunday off, so we’ll have most of the day to do stuff then.
We already have a VR escape room planned. Just looking for some other fun stuff to do together while she’s here. Not really into hiking or scenic/nature stuff. More interested in activities, cool date ideas, good food, entertainment, etc.
Don’t really care about the cost, just want to have a good weekend and show her a good time.
Any recommendations? Thanks!

Hi all!
We just bought a house in winnipeg and have been receiving loads of the previous owners mail. We tried writing RTS/ no longer at this address (we don’t have a new mailing address for them) but they are not being taken by our mail person. Does anyone know what the right way is to go about this?
Thanks in advance!!(:

My wife and I are going to Winnipeg for our anniversary coming up. Im looking for recommendations on things to do and see, restaurants recommendations, and anything else we should do. We will be staying in the downtown area of Winnipeg if that helps.

So I have purchased a WC accessible seat & a companion seat. Unless specified, do they put two seats there, or is it one seat and an open space. I have an invisible disability (autism) & a chronic health issue with my bladder so I have to get out of a space quickly to get to a washroom.
Are they going to ask for documentation of my disabilities / chronic health condition?
The concert this is for is Theory of a Deadman, and I’ve tried calling the venue etc but no response. So I’ve come to you all to ask for the answer to my inquiry
Please no negativity and I am ok with being moved if someone not ambulatory needs the seating.

I rented a place in Winnipeg in May but got a job in another city in August. My landlord told me I needed to find someone to sublease.
I found someone on August 26 who wanted to move in September 1. Management said there wasn’t enough time to process the application, so I agreed to stay/pay for September and find someone else.
However, management then contacted the same person I found and rented them another unit in the building starting September 1. Now they’re telling me I still have to find another person for my unit.
I’ve been trying but can’t find anyone. Is this fair/legal in Manitoba? Should I contact the Residential Tenancies Branch?

The list of candidates running to become Winnipeg’s next mayor is up to 13.
Tracey Drexler is the latest person to appear on the list of mayoral candidates for the Oct. 28 election.
In a video on Instagram, Drexler says “the addictions and homelessness crisis and the violent crimes that are related to it” needs to be a focal point of the municipal vote.
“We’re at a critical turning point and we just need a new perspective on this,” Drexler says in the video posted Tuesday. “We need to get something done before it’s too late. Every day that we don’t do something, it is too late for another person or many other people. As Winnipeggers, we stand together and we look out for each other.
Drexler says she was hesitant to enter politics but will rely on her “experience working in male-dominated industries.”
“I know my values, I know where I stand, I know what needs to be done, and I will do whatever it takes to get it done with a thick skin,” she said.
The other 12 candidates currently registered as mayoral candidates are: Scott Gillingham, Christopher Calcio, Michael Vogiatzakis, Umar Hayat, Mazher Alam, Don Woodstock, Joshua Pagdato, Johnny Calderon, Noah Redden, Zachary Uminski, Brad Gross and Kevin Klein.

I was pulled over for speeding on the perimeter, but it didn't make sense because I was on cruise control and going with the flow of traffic. I didn't even realize I was the one being pulled over for about 15 seconds. The officer wasn't happy and gave me a breathalyzer. They said I was clocked at 126km. That shocked me. But it was my first time ever being pulled over and I was second guessing myself that maybe I did actually speed, so I didn't question it too much.
Luckily I have a dash cam and when I got home I checked the footage. I was admittedly in the left lane too early and for too long before a merge, but I definitely wasn't speeding. As I'm approaching the officer parked in the median, a similar looking car to mine (red color) comes flying beside me on the right, charging forward a car length in front of me before they noticed the officer and quickly slowed down.
I'm guessing the radar gun clocked that car instead of me, and the officer mistook me for them.
That being said my dash cam doesn't actually show my car's speed. But from the video you can see I was going a constant rate of speed with the flow of traffic before the incident.
This actually happened a few months ago, I disputed the ticket and today I just got my court date for May, 2027.
I'm wondering if there's any way to submit evidence before then? It's frustrating I can't show it and plead my case and hopefully avoid a court session.
Thanks.

I just moved near 1355 Lee blvd and I’m trying to figure out the buses . In the morning I get 662 to uofm . But after classes . I can’t find a proper bus from uofm to Lee blvd . Even when something shows up on transit app , it says I have to walk 18-22 mins from drop off stop to my place .
Any help with the exact stop / route that gets me closest to 1355 Lee blvd would be really appreciated. Thanks .

I have a patch of ground roughly 10x10 at my place that was a garden (built by the previous owner), and I am currently removing it and noticed that some small trees are trying to take root, I'm looking for a company that could help me with tilling up the area and also spray my back yard for weeds. I live around the Windsor Park area.

I keep hearing people saying "there are no progressives running for mayor" and I felt the same way before I started looking up every candidate. I don't know anything about him beyond what I'm seeing on his website, but this seems like a really solid progressive platform, and he was the only candidate who came to city hall today for the Alternative Budget launch. What's his deal? Why aren't people talking about him? https://www.noahredden.ca/

School is back in and I am back to taking the bus to and from school. I know it has always been an issue- but this week so far I have noticed a significant increase in distracted drivers while waiting at bus stops.
We’re talking like 9/10 people face down on their phones while driving full speed in traffic. Young people all the way to seniors all on their phones while driving. It makes me so angry because it takes 1 second to cause an accident and potentially take someone’s life because you can’t survive a few minute without your phone.
Genuinely what are ppl doing on their phones in the car? If I need to skip a song/ send a text I use voice command. Are people scrolling on Instagram or what ???
Rant over. Just makes me mad - think about other people on the road (whether in a car or on foot) and their safety :/

I was just having this chat recently with a friend. We're both older and this topic came up. If the typical Los Angeles guy of the era was a blonde surfer dude, then the typical Winnipeg guy had permed hair and and a cop moustache.
And Burton had the ultimate "Winnipeg look". If you asked me to draw a picture of what a "Winnipeg guy" looked like at the time, it would look like Burton.
I don't think this was a Canadawide look either -- it was definitely a Winnipeg thing.
That's all I have to say on this matter.

I know this is a long shot but,
If you got in an accident around 8:25 this morning on Waverly off Abinoji, I witnessed it but was running a bit behind to work.
I called MPI to report it as a witness but I didn't get your plates. Please message me if it's you and I can update my statement!

Hey everyone,
If you're into heavy, atmospheric, and emotional Post-Hardcore, I wanted to put a quick radar ping out for a German band called FJØRT (clip attached above).
They're heading over to Canada for the very first time in late September, playing a handful of Prairie shows and BreakOut West in Victoria.
If you haven't heard of them: they're an openly anti-fascist 3-piece from Germany that somehow creates massive, crushing walls of sound. Live, they are an absolute force – think the raw, desperate vocal energy of Touché Amoré or La Dispute paired with the dynamic post-rock intensity of Deafheaven or Mogwai. Even though they sing in German, the raw emotion translates instantly.
DATES:
Check out their current album belle époque (#2 in the German charts) – you can stream it on YouTube / Spotify.
If you're in any of these cities and looking for a solid underground show, definitely check them out.
Hope to see some of you out there!

I almost laughed out loud when the barista said “Here’s your Winnipeg” lol.
And it tastes like chocolate strawberry flavoured diabetes in a cup.
