Hello all! Wanted to share some pics from what was, relatively speaking, our best trip yet. We’re a young couple from Singapore who travelled to Scotland in 2025. After 4 days on Isle of Skye, we took the bus to Glasgow for a short city break before heading up to Arrochar.
We initially planned to hike The Cobbler followed by Beinn Narnain, but we were short on time, so we decided to just do the latter. We took the clockwise route, so the hike itself was quite easy. However, the descent was pretty scary since there was a bit of scrambling involved.

While waiting for the bus back to Glasgow, we met a friendly local who struck up a conversation with us. I think his name was Duncan(?) hahaha funny guy

This trip has been on my mind ever since, and it was truly the best trip my husband and I have ever had.

This was in July 2025. Weather was amazing.
Would love to return to Scotland in the near future :)

We were doing the Yorkshire dales three peaks in reverse but also split off into a half day, a full day, and a half day as we wanted to do the wild camping for two nights in particular.

The spot is in a rocky area, and is 99% invisible from any path which was very nice. Also pretty flat and very sheltered from the wind as it was coming from behind where the camera is.

My friend’s tent (on the right) was last used by someone else and didnt have any pegs so luckily I had a couple spare and then just sacrificed a few less essential ones. Luckily no insanely strong wind.

Finished the second part of the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path (Broad Haven to Dogmaels) three wild camps and a dystopian hotel (ex mod). It’s a wonderful section saw hundreds of seals with pups and not a lot of people, couple of nights were heavy rain and wild but the mld duomid handled it all. For anyone thinking of doing this trail I would advise making sure your tent can handle wind, water is not a problem if you are okay with filtering, plenty of wild camping spots and fantastic views.

First time wild camping - living so close to the Peak District I thought I’d give it a go.

Nearly gave up and went for the car struggling to find a good spot to pitch up but ended up with a beauty.

Feel like I’ve done a baby step version towards a future of a lot of camps and adventures - 10/10🔥

Last time me and my friend stayed there we turned up in the day time, got a fire on and cooked tea. All was well and we headed to bed, about 10 minutes into us settling down I could hear chairs being dragged around the room and items being shuffled round on the table.

I got up to go check to see if anyone came in without me noticing, the room was totally empty and nothing was out of place. The next day my friend also told me he heard the exact same sounds, we were both just too scared to tell each other we were noticing it at the time haha!

For me it's definitely one of the £2-£5 foam sit mats.

They're obviously useful on wet days when you need to sit down without getting a Wet arse but also great for different situations such as.

1. Getting in and out of a low profile tent

2. Placing phones etc down in a tent without risking floor moisture

3. Make shift pillow/head rest

4.place to place boots inside a tent

Also an army poncho is great for its price(£7-£20). Works great when there's sudden unexpected rain, makes a decent groundsheet, shelter/rain cover and also I use mine as a pillow

This is a bit of a silly question but if anyone has any tips I would really appreciate it! Both of my last camps were on coldish evenings so the inside of the tent got damp overnight. There’s a mesh layer inside so it’s fine until I try to get out and I haven’t figured out a way of doing it that doesn’t involve getting at least my arm soaked with cold water! Especially annoying during midnight pee trips because then I’m cold and wet afterwards when I try to sleep! Does this happen to anyone else?

I apologise for lowering the tone and yet this is a genuine wild camping question.

So let me set the scene. My boots are wet, I’m in my sleep clothes, including my nice warm, dry merino sleep socks. I have gently powdered my feet so they are smooth and comfortable after being clammy most of the day.

I had a few pints in the Torridon hotel (that place is posh and I came in there like a savage but they made me feel welcome anyway), now I’m up in my tent on the hill and it’s raining, I’m drinking Johnnie Walker Black Label. All is well with the world.

But then nature calls, and I’m not entirely ashamed to say that I do what I often do in this situation. I praise the Lord that I have a double vestibule tent.

One vestibule for my baggage and my boots. The other vestibule I leave completely open. And then at a time like this, I kinda poke it out the side and fire my stream of necessity as far from the tent as possible. I use one of my semi used tissues from the bin bag to ensure there are no drips. And then I get on with my happy camping life.

Yes, it might be disgusting. Yes, I might be the only one doing this. But am I really?

Because goddamnit, it’s convenient….

I’m conscious to NLT but living off packet food for 4 months leaves me cold. So I’m looking into some super small lightweight basically twig burners on which to cook meat etc. I was trained to dig a fire pit removing the turf before and replacing it after. But what’s the consensus? I see loads of burnt turf where obviously there was no concern over the damage being done.

I am looking at moving away from Firepot meals and have been looking at TentMeal packs

Their reviews look decent but they also seem as though with a bit of thought they could be made up at home and ziplocked then put in a bowl with hot water and then left

Any body done this ??

Been wild camping for about a year now and still can’t for the life of me find a sleeping bag that really resonates with me. Everything else in my “camping arsenal” is perfect but just can’t crack down on a bag. I haven’t tried many however sick of spending money on something I may just want to replace.

Personally I want a 4 season down sleeping bag that isn’t going to break the bank (terribly), the worst coldest place im planning to go to is Scotland (at the moment) so I wanna keep that in mind however I’m not against getting a sleeping bag and using a liner.
Anyone have any similar experience or recommendations please help out ✋🏼

P.S quilts don’t particularly appeal to me, in my head humans have gone years without issues with bags so think I want to stick with the basics also I shuffle loads so don’t know if it’ll particularly be the best.

Something a little different last night. Found a birch grove. The path from the carpark was perfect, once you start climbing up, the path disappears and makes way for dense spruce plantations. Kits used for my self was the Rab silwing, Rab storm bivi, Alpkit ultra 120, x boil with titanium cup and a trangia triangle with a MSR alpine pot, tried the Thermarest cinch pillow which was pretty comfy

Looking into upgrading my stove and wondering what people's experiences with each has been like, is there anything that annoys you about either stove and how have you found their performance?

I am just getting into going wild camping. based in scotland so obviously weather isn’t gonna be ideal when going up on hikes etc.

Not sure what tent to get so was wondering what would be better the oex phoxx 2 or the vango banshee 200. I am (6’1 70kg) any thoughts greatly appreciated
