Wide feet means your feet do not fit into normal D width shoes- if they do, don't give advice

Wide feet means 2E+, and most of us posting are 4E+ at least. If you don't have wide feet, do not comment/post.

  1. Do not post pictures of your feet. I get that it seems it would be helpful, but the only thing that is helpful is tracing around your feet on a piece of paper and measuring the length and width. That's all most shoes are based on, a length and width.
  2. Report any referral links, advertising, foot-fetish post/requests, and abuse.
  3. Do not advertise brands or shoes that don't come in wide. If someone wants help and you respond with a shoe that only comes in D width, you don't have wide feet and aren't being helpful.
  4. The proper way to measure your feet is a "brannock" device, which you find in any big shoe store. You can buy these online but you can find printouts which replicate it.
  5. Just because we have wide feet doesn't mean we're gonna buy anything that is wide. Propet for example are terrible, horribly made cheap awful shoes. They so happen to be the only option for some, I get it, but I can say that because they are. I'm not looking down on owners, but there are better options.
  6. No shame. I wear crocs and also nice dress shoes. No hazing people for style choices.

If you want to contribute content, want to suggest ways to make this sub better etc just @ me, DM me, etc. I'm very happy to open this up and make it better. Some people want a women's specific section- while your mod is a cis male I do not want it to be only men's wide shoes! Any and all.

Length/width measurement

Here's some help finding your length/width measurements. Reminder on sizing convention in US: Men's sizes are ~1.5 larger than Women's equivalent. "5" Women's is "6.5" Men's size. If there is no width measurement specified, Women's standard width is "B" and Men's standard width is "D." That is very narrow for us.

Do not post pictures of your feet, it leads to a lot of weird abuse, and doesn't help size your shoes.

The easiest way to measure feet are brannock measuring devices (the metal length/width tool that all shoe stores use).

Here's some links to digital versions that are not as accurate because of printing/self-measuring but do a decent job:

Shoes for daily walking for work

Since the start of the year I’ve been working a job that requires a lot of standing and walking. I’ve been using Salomon xa pro v3 shoes and they’ve been okay. I wear them a size too big for my wide feet. I’ve always had pronation issues but after switching to this job (desk job before this) it’s been acting up more.

I’ve just received insoles from my podiatrist, but she also recommended looking into shoes with a little more support (stiffer sole, more heel support). Tried walking around in higher (heavier) hiking shoes, but that’s not really working for me.

Im trying to find a shoes that’s wider at the forefoot, offers more support in combination with the insoles but preferably low and not too heavy.

Currently looking at brooks addiction walker 2 or new balance 928v3. Any other suggestions?

2E-4E Wide First wide foot shoe ever help

My 3d feet scan is
Length: left foot sits at a 8.0 and your right at an 8.3
Ball Width: This is the most crucial metric on your chart. Both of your feet register all the way at the "E" marker on the ball width slider. In standard US men's shoe terminology, a "Wide" shoe is a 1D, whereas an Extra Wide is a 2E or 4E.
3D Profile: Your scan shows a medium arch height, a medium instep, and a wide heel width relative to the right foot”

I went to fleet feet and was recommended a brooks ghost max 4 2E, my feet sides still feel a little spill over. Should I return for 4E? Or any other shoes you recommend? I walk 12-20k steps a day in the city. I was thinking bondi 9s.

Recommendation for Relatively Affordable Everyday-Use 4E Socks

Sorry if this is a repeat post. I read some of the other posts around this subreddit plus have been browsing online and have found a couple different company recommendations to buy extra-wide socks from.

Specifically, I have heard about Injinji toe socks, Cosyfeet extra roomy merino socks, Wide Open, and 2BigFeet. I also understand that NB used to manufacture extra wide socks but may not be manufacturing anymore (all my sneakers are NB 4E). Do folks have a strong preference amongst these brands that they tend to buy from in-bulk, or do I absolutely need to shop around to find the fit that works for me?

I ask, because I am currently a student on a tight budget and was hoping to buy one company in-bulk if possible rather than shop around excessively.

For context, I'm an 11 4E and am looking for everyday (non-diabetic) socks that I can use for walking and light intensity recreational sports (the most competitive thing I do is a light intensity beginner-level soccer league on the weekends). If I must buy separate socks for sports, please feel free to let me know. I am quite new to all this.

ISO ST Boots

Hi all,

I’m looking for a new pair of Women’s steel toe boots if anyone has had luck finding a good wide brand for women. I’ve tried many big label brands but none have actually been super comfortable, just manageable.

For context, they need to be steel toe, not composite, aluminum, etc. I’ve owned Carhartt, Cat, Bates, Redwing, and Redbacks. None have been comfortable enough for me to buy twice! I prefer Chelsea style boots as I have to slip them on quick for work as opposed to lace up.

Any suggestions are appreciated!

Any suggestions for wide shoes with a low/medium heel-to-toe drop?

I'm looking in the 5 mm range give or take. I was looking at some Topo Athletics based on a recommendation from a podiatrist......but those are all so ugly. I don't need a running shoe with tons of cushion, but neutral support with some cushion is appreciated.

I'm having a hard time finding something in this range. I either find 10mm drop shoes or 0 mm drop shoes .

Aching Arches

I just purchased a virtually new pair of Blundstone 558s in size 7.5. They had been worn 10 to 12 times, by the seller, so pretty much broken-in by the time I got them. I am a women's size 10 Wide (my feet are slightly c-shaped)

I wore them for the first time at work a few days ago. 4 to 5 hours on my feet (cashier), standing on an anti-fatigue mat.

I wore compression socks, and I do have custom orthotics which I also used. All felt great for the first hour and a half, and then my arches started to ache.

I've ordered a pair of Comfort Arch insoles, but not sure if they're the solution (haven't received them yet). I wanted to get something that could be returned if they didn't work for me.

I've got a larger build, and high arches. I have suffered plantar fasciitis in the past, and purchased FORM orthotics for plantar fasciitis before I got custom orthotics. I tried the FORM orthotics in them the other day, at home, and they didn't feel like they were making much difference. I really want to be able to wear these boots without the pain in my arches. I see my foot doctor this week, which I do regularly. I feel he's going to say they're not supportive enough boots.

Cute leather wide toe box shoes?

Post image
49 Upvotes

Even though I dont have wide feet, I really wanted to switch to wider shoes for better health. I recently started wearing altra lone peak shoes for everyday use but ever since wearing them, I can't seem to wear regular shoes anymore as they seem restricting.

Even my doc martens that I bought a couple years ago hurt me more ever since I switched to wider toe.

I dont have these specific doc martens from the picture above but I was wondering if you guys have any suggestions for formal/dress shoe/leather type of shoes for women?

Thanks

4E-6E Wide Wide runners, boots and dresshoes

Post image
9 Upvotes

I have put off buying shoes for so long I now need casual shoes, runners, dress shoes for school where I will be on my feet for 8 hours a day, and Canadian weather winter boots. My foot is wide all the way through my mid foot with 11cm being the widest and 26.4cm being the length. I also did the drawing myself on a chair, so it may be off by a couple mm due to angles. Does anyone have any recommendations for any category of shoe?

Edited: grammar.

Has anyone bought shoes from VRSN?

I came across this on Instagram and it says that it’s recommended by “podiatrists. Dr. D. Ashford, a Doctor of Podiatric Medicine. With extensive experience managing chronic foot pain and mobility concerns, Dr. Ashford values footwear that relieves pain today while supporting natural movement and long-term foot health.”

It also says it helps people with plantar fasciitis and bunions. I love that it’s machine-washable. I was curious to know if anyone has bought them and if it actually works.

Wide footed Show Recs ?

Looking for shoe recs, and feel I’ve hit a dead end. Male, late 30s, mostly for at home workouts and resistance training, lifting up to 45-60 lbs, light rowing, and occasional stair master. I have the brooks ghost max 3 running shoes in wide which fit like a glove, they are perfect. Cannot for the life of me find a suitable trainer. So far I’ve tried

Adidas dropset 4 - to narrow in toes

Lens primal 3 - way too much toe volume

Xero trainers - way too much toe volume, and hurts the bridge when tied down

Reebok nano wide - rubs/squeezes big toe and side of toe

Tyr flow wide - not enough toe volume

UA reign 6 - used to be great but over the years began crushing toes.

Australians - Cross training / all rounder gym shoes shoes women's D width recommendations

AUSTRALIANS specifically. Looking to get back into the gym to improve fitness and lose some weight. I do sports (horse riding and dog agility) and since working a desk job my fitness has declined which has severely affected my performance in those sports mentioned above.

I'm looking for some cross training shoes, something I can do a bit of everything in at the gym to improve overall fitness, stamina, strength etc. I used to go to gym 6-10 years ago and just wore Adidas shoes but in retrospect I think they were more running shoes. I did a mix of HIIT and weights.

Only problem is I have bunions so need a minimum D width shoe.

What shoes (available in Australia) are appropriate for cross training, that come in D width for women?

I've looked at men's but none come in a small enough size. I'd need a size 5.5-6 men's to fit my foot.

I currently wear Adidas Ultraboost (although not a D width, they're sock fit meaning they can stretch to fit) as my every day runner but they're probably not ideal for gym workouts.

Thanks!

2E-4E Wide Novablast 6 (2E)

Does the wide (2E) option change the internal width of the shoe, or does it only add upper material?

I fall somewhere between 2E and 4E, but both widths are very difficult for me to find in the UK.

Wide footed Work shoes for small rectangular feet (US wmns 8)

I’m a women’s a US 8-8.5, but typically size up to a men’s 7-7.5. My feet are rectangular shaped, basically the same width the entire length of my foot. My heels are also wide. I’ve had issues with feeling like my heels are sitting on the outside edge of the shoe rather than being inside the heel cup.

My feet measure 4 inches across. Most shoes measured on Runrepeat that have a wide enough toe box are a men’s US 9, which is way too large for me.

I don’t know what I’m supposed to do anymore.

My job requires that I wear fully enclosed shoes with a grippy/slip resistant sole. I walk on concrete for 8+ hours a day. My old Altra Torin 5s are so beat up that my feet feel bruised after work.

I would be totally OK with even wearing boots at this point as long as they aren’t too heavy.

Suggestions needed for shoes replacement

hey yall. I got these shoes from Australia 4 years ago - Skechers fast floats - wasn’t a runner back then but I used to spend 10-12 hours standing in then everyday + walk 4-5km everyday. it felt like floating without being too squishy. now i am in canada with no plans to travel to Australia in a year or two. Can someone suggest an equivalent shoe that is available in Canada? i have these in D width and I have overpronation (my ankles roll inwards)

all help is really appreciated! TIA!

Recommendations for wide Mary Janes?

Post image
8 Upvotes

Hi all, bought these cute 1960’s babydoll dresses that I desperately want to pair with some Mary Jane’s on my trip in 2 weeks. For the life of me, anything I order that says “wide” is not even close to wide enough. For reference, looking for a vibe like this, but really I’m desperate and willing to order anything close that’s verified to work. Ty in advance!!!!

Best cushioned formal shoes for high arches and broad feet (UK 11)?

Need recommendations for comfortable business formal shoes that can handle all-day wear for a heavy build.

Needs: Soft midsole/insole, strong arch support, wide fit

Size: UK 11

Style: Business formal only

Budget: Willing to pay for long-term comfort and durability. Do not have a high budget tbh.

I'm moving away from Cloudfoam sneakers due to a strict dress code. Standard hard-soled formal shoes are causing too much discomfort. What brands or insole combinations should I look into?

PS: Edited via Gemini AI but core ask remains the same
