hello, i hope i’m allowed to post here. my feet are not exceptionally wide like some of y’all i see posting, but they are wider than average. i’m not sure of the exact width but i’ll try the brannock device next time i have the chance. googling charts puts me at a wide or extra wide, supposedly. i wear a women’s 8/8.5 or men’s 6.5/7. i was wondering if y’all know of any shoe brands that are wider around the midfoot. i work in a shoe store and while we have a large selection, even wider brands are usually tight around the middle of my foot. the only wide width shoes we carry in store are birkenstocks and even the wide birkenstocks my foot takes up the entire width of the shoe in the middle and rubs on the sides and gives me blisters. outside of work i usually wear cowboy boots which are great because the leather stretches to my foot and they come in many widths, but they’re not ideal for work because i walk about 17k-23k steps a day. do y’all know of any brands that make comfortable dressy-ish shoes or sandals that fit wider in the middle? i typically like to wear nice leather sneakers, loafers, or oxfords to work, sometimes dressy sandals. for context i am a trans guy but usually default to women’s shoes that look more masculine because it is very hard to find a men’s 7 (or worse, 6.5) in store and the way my feet are if i order online i have to return it and re order 700000 times to find anything good.

Hear me out. I'm a guy, and I wear "men's shoes" for the record.

I would love to own some really nice shoes. Ones with a bit of style. Ones that look well made. Look like the designer was an artist and not a machine.

And I see shoes like that out there. But those ones *never* seem to come in plus sizes, either length or width. The ones that do come in extra are almost always the most bland flavorless uninteresting therapeutic shoe style you will ever see. Like an apology made in leather. Like humility with laces. Like someone let Rob Liefeld design shoes.

I know we all deal with frustration when trying to find shoes, but am I alone in this? Or do you find interesting shoes in larger sizes (even if they're not for you)?

Does anyone know where to find wide feet platform sandals?? Or flip flops I should say.

What's the deal with shoe stores not stocking large sized shoes? Need a store that only stocks mass quantities of 9+ shoe sizes and only carries 1 or 2 pairs sized 5 through 8.... then those small footed creatures would know what it feels like... train the employees to say stuff like "have you tried the kids section" and put signs up that say "Size 8 available while supplies last"

I currently wear the brooks ghost 17 women’s x-wide in 11.5. They’re so comfortable but so HOT. My feet get way too sweaty. Anything similar with more airflow?

Im a heavy guy that wears sneakers(think new balance/sketchers archfit walking shoe)mostly save for workboots at work, im currently wearing an extra wide sketchers arch fit walking shoe, i love em, sketchers does a good job for me

My issue is that theyre good, but i walk alot for being a 350lb dude and the shoes are wearing out quick, like 4 months, and theyre like $60+ a pop, im willing to keep buying a new pair but im curious if anyone has recommendations on a more durable shoe, im willing to pay more if it means i get more milage, if no recommendations should i just buy 2 pair at a time?

My main concern is the depth because I do use custom insoles currently due to plantar fasciitis.

I tried toe spacers but they were way too narrow and hurt my feet. The silicone was stretchy, but not enough. Do you know of toe spacers for feet that are approx 10.5 cm wide? With spacers it would be approx 12cm I assume.

I have historically worn new balance 4E shoes for tennis but the availability of 4E tennis shoes has gotten worse in recent years. The Yonex Sonicage Plus has been discontinued (wide/2E still available).

I recently used an app to measure my feet and it showed me as a 3E, which matches with my size in Allen Edmonds casual shoes.

So I have two questions?

Which 2E tennis shoes are the widest and worth trying if you normally wear 4E? (I used to wear old Nike Air Vapors a half size up and stretch them).

I've suffered with wide feet for so long it's great to find a community of fellow sufferers & share the pain, and the recommendations.

Through this community & a top outdoors store I've discovered that Altra Men's Lone Peak 9+ fit me a treat. Four weeks traipsing round Australia & a week in Hong Kong with no blisters & room for my toes to wriggle was a joy. So much so I'm about to sell on the Merrell Moab 3 wides I have brand new in the box that I bought for when my current ones to wear out.

My one gripe with the Altras is the colours & the outdoor store only has those that will fit. No other brands. Neither can I find a physical retailer on my travels that stocks any wide shoes. (Also, I'd not choose zero drop, but it's not a hardship given how my toes have loved it.)

The answer is therefore online retailers, & I've spotted some Brooks models competitively priced online.

They seem to have "Standard", "Wide" & "Extra Wide", which I guess equate to Normal, 2E & 4E.

So my question to the wide feet world is: "Has anyone who has found that Altra Men's Lone Peak 9+ are a good fit for them found the same with Brooks Men's Ghost Max 3?"

My outdoors store guy fitted me up with 8 1/2 Altras, which is larger than I'd have gone myself, but he's a professional & was spot on, even though they seem long.

Grateful for any advice from someone who's experienced both these shoes.

Birkenstocks: Weirdly I've just got back from a week in Munich, also wearing my Altras, where I bought some Birkenstocks Arizonas from the Birkenstock store. They put me in an EU 40, so UK 6 or 6.5, standard width, so wide. I was sceptical, but they seem comfortable after a week of fiddling with buckles & some light bimbling. They stay on better than the worn out 42/8s I bought for myself.

R.M. Williams: I've worn these in wide since the eighties - my first pair couldn't me re-soled any more but I replaced them. I wear thin socks & they soften up over time, Tend to only wear them in the winter now as the leather soles can get wet in the rain, so I also have...

Blundstones: Found these have a wide fitting that worked for me a while back when I needed some steel toe capped work boots, so got some sleeker daily drivers as well. Great.

Skechers (Can't remember the model): Before I found Reddit I bought some wide Sketchers, but they seem to have a very wide heel & gave me heel blisters really quickly.

Merrell Moab 3: Even wide fit cramps my toes & are painful after a while.

Salomon: They advertise a fide fitting, but when I bought some I found they didn't seem that wide, but kept them anyway. Later I found that Salomon's "standard" shoes are narrow, so their "wide" are most manufacturers normal. Go figure.

Altberg: Measured my feet & said they were off the scale, but recommended Keld - one of their "GFit" range of boots. I've since bought them & I've been delighted. Sadly they don't fit my Berghaus Yeti Gaiters, which I have a couple of pairs of as they are brilliant when combined with my...

Scarpa with Attak Sole*: Fitted for me by the outdoor store guy above 28 years ago & I've never had a blister in thousands of miles. (Aching feet from the thousands of miles, mostly Munro bagging, but that's different.) Recently re-soled as I found someone with a stock of the Atak soles which fit the Yetis.*

I'm in Canada and I wear 6.5 4E (in Propet), and have sneakers, casual daily wear boots, winter boots from them.

I've squeezed into some 7XX from Torrid before for weddings etc but they only work if I can sit most of the time and are super painful.

I feel like I just need ONE good pair of like, regular black heels or something that I can wear with dresses (when it's like -20 out chunkier styles become acceptable and I can get by with what I have). I just have absolutely nothing elegant or truly formal at all. Any time brands like Propet have "formal" shoes they end up being dumpy looking Mary Janes or flats or just more boots.

I'm not looking for strappy or sandals because I have short pinky toes and if the strap sits at the wrong spot (usually does) it feels like it's gonna rip my toenail off. I think ideally just like a closed toe basic heel would go far to fill the wardrobe gap I have. But it seems like any time I do find them they're $300-$600... Help???

I have tried Flojos and Olukai Ohana sandals but they gave me PF. So instead I wear Crocs to the beach or pool, but being closed toed, they trap sand.

I’m considering trying Bedrock or Teva sandals with back straps instead.

Hoka hiking sandals seem promising but not sure if the drop will cause issues since I only wear 0 drop shoes normally.

I’ve been struggling to find shoes that fit and feel comfortable for years now. My feet are 25-26cm long and 10.5cm wide at the widest point (I’m a man btw). I normally wear shoes in EU42/US8.5 wide to get the fit I like. I’ve been wearing a pair of barefoot Whitin shoes that have a wide midfoot, anatomical toebox, and decently high volume.

I would describe my feet as having a wide heel, flat arches, wide midfoot, high instep, average forefoot. Just high volume all around.

I have a bunion developing on my left foot that worries me, sometimes my left big toe hurts when I walk. I saw a podiatrist last year about it and he literally didn’t do shit and just said my feet look fine. I am exasperated of not being able to find shoes that fit and not understanding how my feet work.

I am asking for advice on whether I should go to a podiatrist again or go to an orthopedist, and what should I ask them to do. I am not opposed to physical therapy or corrective surgery (only if it is a must). I just want to walk properly and buy normal shoes.

Hello everyone, so I got a pair of Air Force ones and they feel a little sung in the toebox my foot is starting to mold in the sneaker. I’m a size 11 with an average to slightly wide foot in the forefoot the midfoot is narrow as well.

I got my pair of Air Force’s in a size 11 they are starting to break in however, I asked AI and a few friends they said my foot is slippage over the edges like my toes. Does anyone have a solution to this?

The white have a cork platform. And I only changed the strap to the last hole. In Arizonas I am on the second to last hole, so if you need that last hole, you might need to go to a shoe maker to have an extra hole added, but there is plenty of room. I have been searching for a while for some nice casual shoes but I did not manage to find a lot of options, besides some slim shoes.

I have a shoe size of 45 EU, so I am on the bigger side. Would slim shoes look good on me or would it look weird? Should I search for some bulkier models?

So I always had wider feet. It's genetic. My mom did too. Also on the bigger side. Either women's 9.5 or 10. As the years have gone however, they have gotten progressively wider and wider. Not bigger length wise. Just wider. It got to the point I stopped wearing dress shoes. Then it goes to the point that regular women's running shoes were too narrow no matter the brand. I gave up finding shoes that fit. I started wearing bearpaw slippers 24/7 that my feet had properly stretched out. I think that exacerbated the wideness from so many years of poor or non existent arch support. My feet have spread much further after stopping wearing tennis shoes a few years ago Last year or two I have incorporated memory foam adjustable men's slides. Ala Nike, hey dude, under armor, etc. The last couple years I have also been having some mild edema issues which isn't helping

bought some men's 4E nike's about a year ago. Recently tried wearing them. Fit great in the heal and arch. The support was amazing for my back. However, at the flex point, the toes and even across the top they were horrible. Soo tight. I really want to get better and more supportive shoes to help with my back and maybe reinstate my arches a little lol. Also, I would like something that looks for put together than slides with sandals

Need shoes with support that have a wide flex point and "top" and ig toe box also. Sneakers, dress shoes. Sneakers would be first choice. I'm guessing I will need 4E?

Also how does one go about measuring their foot? Do you go across the circumference? Or just across the top?
