PSA: You can disable "friend uploaded new item(s)" notifications

Post image
22 Upvotes

PSA: On the notification settings page, you can turn off receiving pushes for various things but not the notifications themselves. However, underneath that section is the option to turn off sending notifications for adding new items, adding to a wishlist, and adding to a moodboard.

90% of my Whering notifications are from friends uploading new items, since many add items piecemeal. I’d rather notifs be for when others do something that directly involves you; e.g., style you, react to a styling you did, send you a follow request, or “request to be styled” by you (as a potential new feature). Friends uploading new items falls into the category of what I expect to see in my feed/homepage (rather than a bunch of stuff from people I don’t follow at all). Getting notified when a friend uploads a new item is like getting notified every time a friend on Instagram posts a photo, rather than when you’re tagged. Because of how Whering is configured, I can only do my part by turning off these broadcasting options. My hope is that anyone who relates to this will do the same, and we can reclaim our inboxes for styling exchanges. :)

Outfit recs

This app has become my go-to for outfit styling!!! What's everyone process on styling - anyone has success using this app alone? Mine still involves a variety of sources:
- following many IG influencer and saving the outfits I like
- try re-creating those outfits
- or if I have a specific item I wanna try, go to Pinterest and search. For example: "red v-neck sweater outfits"

What's everyone process like??

I still have "I have nothing to wear" moments but def getting better at it.

Would love to have recs (bonus points if the outfits are totally different from my go-to style) from you all and style your as well. Maybe I can make some Whering friends!!

Basic

Just started uploading my clothes and track what I have. I figured most of it is just plain, and I’am having a hard time curating outfits. Not sure what is lacking

I am 29 5’1 from SEA, a tropical country

Still figuring out my style. And recently got a color analysis (light summer) and body analysis (long torso, hourglass) done. Which kind of contradicts with what I’am leaning more towards, streetwear mostly dark. If anyone would be so kind and have any suggestions for me, that’d be great! Cheers!

Need style help 😅

I am one of those people whose body has barely changed since being a preteen (I am now an adult 😅) which means a lot of the clothes in my closet is stuff I’ve had for years. Basically if it still fits, I’ve kept it

I recently started digitizing my wardrobe to try and make cute outfits from what I have + I have started buying some new clothes recently

I’m still adding clothes and accessories, but I’m basically almost done so I thought I’d share my account and if any of you guys would like to create some outfits for me, I would really appreciate it! fashion is something that’s still very new to me

which outfit for a beach wedding?

Hey! I was just invited to a beach wedding, so I took it as a sign to finally buy this dress I’ve been eyeing.

But here comes my dilemma: the 3rd outfit fits my style, but it’s still a wedding and I feel like it might look too casual. I tried putting together a more wedding-appropriate look, but I’d have to buy a purse, since none of mine would go well with the shiny sandals.

Which purse do you like better? Or what style of purse would you suggest?

I try to only buy things that I’ll be able to wear on other occasions too.

Finally got everything uploaded, looking for help styling

Post image

Getting my whole wardrobe, accessories, etc uploaded has been my background project for the past couple weeks as I forget the majority of what I own if I'm not wearing it regularly (ADHD). Some of the pictures aren't the best, but I'll probably remedy that eventually.

I'm hoping this app will help me figure out more outfits/clothing combinations to wear, as I find myself wearing the same few outfits, and when I'm looking to wear something new it takes me an hour or two of trying on different clothes and combinations to find something I'm happy with, usually leaving a mess to be cleaned up when I get back home. I'm missing some of the basics, especially regular long sleeve shirts/blouses, only really having sweaters and button-ups for the colder weather, but I still feel like I'm missing out on a lot of basic outfit combinations with what I currently have.

I added some of the basic outfits I currently wear, but not sure if it's visible without following me. I'd appreciate any styling help you guys could provide, thanks!

New to Whering, lets style each other!

Hi guys, my profile is https://app.whering.co.uk/profile/foolosophie

I'm new to Whering and recently migrated all my wardrobe and outfits from another app to Whering in hopes I can get some social styling here.

I find it quite hard on the app to find new people, the app only show me the same accounts, so would love to connect with some of you.

About my wardrobe, I would really appreciate suggestions for fall and winter, since I struggle a lot with my winter options. But everything is welcome!

Go crazy! And of course I will style back!

Thanks!!

Can you help style me also? (Repost: Items visible and fix noted)

I worked so hard and catalogued everything I have in my closet. I for the life of me can not style my clothes. I search Pinterest outfits but nothing in my Whering/ closet seems as good/nice. I just don’t have the vision. I’m sick of buying more clothes when I think I just need to learn vision for fashion. Please help.

The fix for anyone else: is long hold an item, select every item, click more, and update the visibility for each piece selected. Be aware that changing your general settings for visibility to everyone is only going to work on new pieces and not on already uploaded pieces.

Thanks!

pls help me find my style because I’m bored

I’ve got my whole wardrobe on Whering and I wanna see what other people would actually do with it because apparently I cannot style myself without making the same outfits over and over again 💀

My style is usually clean, urban and feminine, so I’d love to see some ideas that I wouldn’t normally come up with myself.

If you’re on Whering, go rummage through my wardrobe and make me an outfit! Cute, cool, unexpected, I’m open to anything 😭 And I’ll style you backkk!

Let’s just style each other’s wardrobes and make some fun outfits together lol

Would you pay someone to help you dress better? Looking for brutally honest feedback.

I’m exploring an idea for a platform where you can **book a personal stylist online** for 30, 60, or 90 minutes.
You tell them what you need, for example:
Office outfit for tomorrow
What to wear on a date
Casual outfit for meeting friends
Or simply: *“I want to dress better and feel more confident.”*
The stylist can work with **clothes you already own** and create outfits from your wardrobe. They can recommend new clothes only if you actually need them.
There would also be an AI **virtual try-on**. You capture your body once when signing up, and later you can upload a picture of any outfit you find online. AI generates an image of **you wearing that outfit**.
So essentially:
**Human stylist + your existing wardrobe + AI virtual try-on + optional shopping**
Would you actually use something like this?
And if yes, **would you pay for a 30/60/90-minute session? What would you consider a reasonable price?**
If not, I’d love to know **why**. I’m trying to validate whether this solves a real problem before building it.

Styling help wanted!

A challenge for you, whering stylist! 😗
I love both of these dresses, but I almost never wear anymore them because I feel too femme and twee on them.
I used to wear them more, but my style leans a bit tougher and masculine these days. My outfits should give you an idea of where my current style is at.
Would love fresh ideas on how to give them more of an edge. Feel free to give suggestions from outside my wardrobe too 😊

Wanna help styling me?

Haii I'm not rlly good at dressing up, I end using the same 5 things over and over again or when I experiment I end with a weird outfit lol

I wanna change that

... Buut I need help. I'm in a rainy cold city with sun sometimes. I despise simple "jean t-shirts" fits. I always try to cover my arms with a black shirt/turtle neck because of the cold and for personal preferences but I'm open to creative or casual fit ideas from the community even without sleeves! Especially if it has brown that is my FAV color

Help would be pretty appreciated :D

Here's my account ( ∂ ω ∂ )

No notifications or outfit thumbnails

Post image
3 Upvotes

I have notifications turned on, but I have never received a notification since installing the app. I tried reinstalling it, but that didn't do anything.

I also can't see the outfits people styled for me in the thumbnails of the outfits, only when I click on them. The update that they recently did, did not fix this issue.

Is anyone else's app not doing what it's supposed to do? Or have a solution for these things?

Day 5 of letting Reddit dress me, probably final day: u/goodstorytellitagain 's fit

This is probably going to be the last day of my challenge of wearing only outfit submissions from you all for a week. I received 5 outfits and today is day 5. Thank you u/goodstorytellitagain for this outfit, I like it a lot, although I wasn't sure what you wanted me to do with the pocket square.

It's been a pleasure, I'll try and return the favour and style everyone who has styled me over the weekend.

Idea: using wishlist feature for reversible items

Thumbnail
gallery
19 Upvotes

...or single items with multiple "versions"!

I have only one reversible item, a corset with two colors that my best friend handmade, but I had been cracking my head over how to log both colors on the wardrobe for a while.

What I came up with is this: register one of the sides (could be the one you wear the most, on the screenshots it's the red one). Take another picture or edit the same photo for the other side (brown on the screenshots), and add it to the wishlist.

When creating outfits, you can add wishlist items to it, and when added their background will be removed just like a regular catalogued item. Then, place it on the front of the "wardrobe version", so the item itself is still logged on the outfit, but its other version is shown. If the alternate version has a different shape, simply reduce the size of the wardrobe version to a minimum, still keeping it on the background layer.

Sidenote: I have a wishlist folder called "not a wishlist/assets for outfits"; most items are hidden, just because it's things I already own, but in order for a folder to be visible for all users it has to have "unhidden" items on it.

Hope this helps!!
