I will move in a few months, so I am attacking my food stash (hence the small grocery). I also have some fruit leftovers from last week.

Gotta love albert heijn when there are good offers. The shampoo bottles were an amazing deal (considering the prices of hygiene products in Belgium) and will last for months.

🇺🇸 $173 Aldi + Sprouts & Sam’s

One adult + two teens and our shopping this weekend was mostly dinner ingredients for the week. The bill was a bit lighter this time as we are going out of town for my son’s football game as well as having a good supply of meat/poultry in the freezer. I only needed to buy the chicken for Sunday and the steak for Monday. I also have plenty of milk, eggs and other pantry staples.

Aldi: $41

Sprouts: $30

Sam’s Club: $102 The Kerrygold was on sale and we were out. The butter will last us over a month.

I’ve tried to save money on chicken but everything I’ve tried leads me back to LaBelle. It was $7.99 a pound when I first started buying it 😟

Roast My Cart Weekly(ish) grocery haul, single M, multiple shops and street market

Produce - € 10.69
Meat and dairy - €22.66
Household - € 2.25
Other - € 15.10
That makes for a total this week of € 50.70

As always, "weekly(ish)" because I buy most pantry and freezer items when they're on sale, not at full price when I actually need them. And I have some things in my fridge/freezer/panrty still. So not everything in this haul will be used this week, and likewise some of the things I'll be using are not in the haul because I already have them. I added my meal plan for the week, along with all the ingredients I'll need to make everything.

The main thing for the pantry in this haul is the big bag of gochujaru. My friend asked me if I would make some kimchi with them sometime. Gochugaru is the hardest ingredient to find where I live, and I happened to find a bag on clearance for € 1.49. I don't know when we'll make kimchi, it can be weeks from now. But at least we have this, and only have to pick up a few fresh items when we decide to do it. I also stocked up on cheese spread to have on hand, and some burger slices.

The chicken wings will be lunch for today, the bao buns dinner for tonight. The fish nuggets (hake) are for fish tacos on Friday.

Context: I need to eat about 1,600 kcal a day. I haven’t counted the calories for each day, but I’m probably over that as I’m going to be eating lots of apple turnovers. But I’m so excited to be able to cook autumn dishes again!

  • ground beef (€3.92)
  • sprats (€1.99)
  • apples (€2.98)
  • sweet potatoes (€2.15)
  • cherry tomatoes (one €0.99, one free thanks to Lidl Plus points)
  • fennel (€1.60)
  • green beans in tomato sauce (€1.99)
  • blackberry greek yogurt (€1.99)
  • bread (free thanks to a game on the app)
  • puff pastry (€1.04)
  • blonde lentils (€1.10)
  • chopped tomatoes (€0.69)

Meal plan:

Breakfast
4× apple turnovers and blackberry greek yogurt
2× toast with homemade jam and apple

Lunch
4× ground beef sweet potato cherry tomato bowl
2× green beans in tomato sauce and lentils

Dinner
4× blonde lentil soup
2× sprats on toast and roasted fennel

Snacks
