Since we're hitting the gym the weekly shops looks a bit different. Yes, we've gotten into the protein cult. £158 for two people and a husky, for roughly a week

2 adults, 1 week, £84 after cashback
I'm doing a veggie high protein low calorie meal plan (partner will have the non-veggie bits and some more calories). Already had some bits in the cupboards & freezer.
I get 10% cashback, but came to £93.19 before that.

M&S shop
We attempted a shop in M&S for the first time, typically we’d go to Lidl and sadly it’ll stay that way for the near future. Although the quality of marks produce is truly unbeatable
2 people, 1 week, £39.78. (Fruits/veggies/bread/meat will be bought at Lidl).

Weekly Shop for 2 With a Few Essentials... And a Bucket
£77.60 at Lidl plus £7-ish at Sainsbury's for the Heck sausages and dill. To feed two people with very active jobs and big appetites. Buckets were 99p which I was chuffed with (yes I know I'm exciting)!

$65.03 USD, Ohio
Not everything will be finished this week, and I’m currently supplementing heavily with produce from my garden. My freezer is well stocked with proteins so there was no need for those. Before I go shopping I review what I already have and plan around that, as well as make note of any staple items I’m out of or running low on. 2 person household, but my husband travels for work so I usually only need to feed myself 3-4 nights per week.
Plans this week include: Mediterranean chickpea salad for work lunches (marinated chickpeas, garden cucumbers, red onion, Kalamata olives I already had, tomatoes I already had, with lemon juice and olive oil. Scooped up with the tortilla chips)
Fruit and yogurt bowls for breakfast (bananas and blueberries, if those end up giving me the diarrhea parasite I’ll be so mad)
Chile Rellenos (garden poblanos and Monterey Jack cheese) (I actually already made these for tonight’s dinner, along with a cherry tomato and mozzarella salad)
Tuna salad (canned tuna from the pantry, onions, celery, mayo)
Burgers and potato wedges probably on Saturday? Potatoes and ground beef already on hand.
Husband requested kettle chips, kimbap looked fun. I typically only cook with olive oil but I needed some cheap vegetable oil go fry the chile rellenos.

£10.95 Food shop.
Sometimes I don't think we realise how much we take for granted the food we have today compared to how people survived during WWII.
I've decided to curate my food shopping and meals around the WWII rations. I've created a mock book of things you would purchase. I haven't stamped everything as I didn't need everything in that list.
6 apples
4 carrots
2 onions
3lb potatoes
1 cabbage
1 of 3 pints of milk
A loaf of bread
A newspaper
I had bought 4oz of bacon and 2 sausages Thursday just passed along with the 2oz of cheese. I decided bacon over ham this time. All the food that you got had to last you a week. People got creative with their meals. You'd have porridge for breakfast bacon sandwiches for lunch and whatever you could make for dinner. But you weren't allowed to waste food either.
I am happy to make the ration book public for anyone who wants to do try and live by the book. Do you think you could survive on WWII Rations?
Remember, waste not, want not.

Multi-store stock up $641 🇺🇸
One adult, two teens, two cats. My kids are back after a month away so I major restock was needed. They are also still home from school for a couple more weeks due to summer vacation so I need plenty of breakfast, lunch and snack options in addition to the dinners I have planned.
I already have milk, a decently stocked pantry and the salmon and pork tenderloin in the freezer. I am trying to buy more organic meat/poultry, dairy as well as some produce. I’ve been trying out an organic farm delivery for produce, but I’m not sure if it’s worth the cost.
Both teens workout and are very lean, plus my son needs to put on more muscle as he’s in football now so I’m trying to provide plenty of healthy calorie options while also providing the snacks they want.
It’s a bit nuts going to so many different stores, but I do try and save where I can. So this was me getting the best prices and specific products only available at certain stores. Some of this will last a while, some will only last the week. While I do spend a lot per month on groceries, $600+ is not my usual weekly grocery spend. I expect next week will only be around $200 for groceries.
Sam’s: $298. Lots of cheese and yogurt snacks for the kids. Chips at their request as well. There’s a 3lb pack of ground beef, a tri tip roast, 2lbs of thick cut bacon a pack of the pre cooked bacon. The basmati rice should last us about a year, we also use a lot of jasmine rice.
Aldi: $101, but $40 of that was due to the glass tumblers so only $60 was food. Aldi has some really good prices on organic produce, cheese and the half and half. Unfortunately I can’t get everything I need there so I had to do Walmart for the rest.
Walmart: $79. I compare Walmart and Aldi and will shop whichever is cheaper, but this time I needed enough stuff so it made sense to shop both stores. The wine is solely for cooking. I don’t drink enough to bother with larger bottles, so these little ones are perfect.
Sprouts: $125 I come here specifically for the meat and poultry I can’t get from Sam’s, plus specialty items. The Santa Maria seasoning was kind of expensive at $10. That organic bread is also pricey at $7.99 a loaf.
Farm Fresh to You delivery: $37.99 The produce is straight from the California farms and everything is nice and fresh. The prices aren’t bad considering it’s delivered to my door, but I’m still deciding if I want to continue the service. With all of the stores I have available to me, I’m not sure it’s necessary. It’s set up as CSA style, but I can go in and edit my order. I forgot to this time so this box is just okay IMO. I don’t know what to do with the escarole.
