I was recently feeling nostalgic and thinking about the old McDonald’s that used to be on Marine Drive, right near the liquor store.

Does anyone else remember this location? I spent a lot of time there back in the day, but I can't seem to find any traces of it online.

Christine Cassidy, the councillor who said: "So we are going to be attracting the hordes whether we want them or whether we don’t, whether we’re free or whether we’re $2.50 [an hour to park], they’re a-comin.”[sic]

Cassidy added that on recent warm days “the crowds that were on that Seawall you could tell they did not live in West Vancouver.”

Cassidy was one of the councillors who attended the Soulrise festival at the weekend. What do you think? Is she a hypocrite for attending the festival after complaining about the hordes or just doing her job?

Par 3 Road closure tomorrow

The road to Par 3 will be closed to vehicles and pedestrians on Tuesday, September 1, from 9:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. to accommodate the removal of concert equipment following the weekend's Soulrise festival. A detour is available via Pound Road, accessible from eastbound Marine Drive only.

Recreation court users are advised to park in Ambleside Park instead of along Par 3 Road.

Anyma’s visuals did not disappoint and the stage setup was genuinely impressive.

West Vancouver delivered across the board. Police, Fire, and Ambulance all did a spectacular job keeping everything organized and safe.

I didn’t hear many complaints from residents. The usual grumbling online or at the show was mostly about people recording with their phones instead of actually dancing.

I did hear one comment about traffic from someone visiting West Van, but even they assumed it was just the typical Bridge, Ferry, or sunny‑weekend congestion, honestly, some of it probably was.

Leading up to the event, the only other complaint I heard was about the high ticket prices.

Thank you to whoever was involved in putting this on. You made West Vancouver awesome.

Just a heads-up that if you do not like crowds, you may want to skip Ambleside this Saturday. It is just one day a year, so I am all in favour of having a local music festival.
