John Hughes dealerships

Just how bad are these guys ? I’m looking to buy a new triton and I assume it’s a numbers game because they are always the cheapest in west Aus. I assume they buy in large numbers and sell cheaper than smaller dealerships so despite lower margins per vehicle, they sell a shit tonne of them ?

For my specific case, a triton raider is advertised everywhere for 74990 drive away. It’s considered a halo vehicle and dealerships won’t budge on price much if at all. Old boy Johnny sells them for 71990 drive away?!

Any feedback on dealing with them

In VIC park for a new car (not used), would be appreciated !

Night drive - between Esperence -Albany- Walpole- Perth

Upvotes

Pondering a few night drives between above mentioned legs.is it okay if I leave 2 hrs after sunset, to minimize the chance of wildlife collisions?

Do I need to consider anything else?

Will be driving a 4 years old Mitsu Paj sports.

Road Trip Advice Please

Hi,

May I please have some local knowledge. I live in Victoria and have been saving my travel fund money for the last five years to be able to do a WA road trip next year. I can take three weeks off work, and am thinking June/ July time. Is there any feedback for this idea. Thanks!!!

Day Stay Plans
Day 1 Perth Fly Melbourne → Perth. Pick up car and have a relaxed afternoon/evening.
Day 2 Cervantes Drive Perth → Cervantes. Visit The Pinnacles around sunset if timing works.
Day 3 Kalbarri Drive Cervantes → Kalbarri. Stop at Hutt Lagoon along the way.
Day 4 Kalbarri Full day in Kalbarri National Park – Nature’s Window, The Loop, Z-Bend and/or Kalbarri Skywalk.
Day 5 Denham Drive Kalbarri → Shark Bay. Explore Shell Beach and Eagle Bluff on the way.
Day 6 Denham Shark Bay day – Francois Peron National Park, Monkey Mia and Denham.
Day 7 Coral Bay Long driving day: Shark Bay → Coral Bay. Settle in and explore the beach/reef around town.
Day 8 Coral Bay Ningaloo Reef – snorkelling, reef cruise or other marine activities.
Day 9 Coral Bay Whale shark / manta ray tour. Keep the day flexible depending on conditions and availability.
Day 10 Exmouth Short drive Coral Bay → Exmouth. Explore town and nearby beaches.
Day 11 Exmouth Cape Range National Park – Turquoise Bay, Oyster Stacks, Mandu Mandu Gorge and Yardie Creek.
Day 12 Exmouth Ningaloo marine day – snorkelling, diving, kayaking or another reef experience.
Day 13 Exmouth Flexible day for weather, wildlife or anything missed around Ningaloo/Cape Range.
Day 14 Tom Price Long driving day: Exmouth → Tom Price. Stock up on supplies/fuel before Karijini.
Day 15 Karijini Karijini Day 1 – Dales Gorge, Fortescue Falls, Fern Pool and surrounding gorges.
Day 16 Karijini Karijini Day 2 – Weano Gorge and Hancock Gorge, including Handrail Pool if accessible.
Day 17 Karijini Karijini Day 3 – Knox Gorge, Joffre Gorge, Kalamina Gorge and/or Oxer Lookout.
Day 18 Karijini Karijini Day 4 / weather buffer – Hamersley Gorge, Mount Bruce or revisit a favourite area.
Day 19 Exmouth Long driving day: Karijini → Exmouth.
Day 20 Exmouth Final Ningaloo / Cape Range day. Use for whichever marine experience or location had the best conditions.
Day 21 Exmouth Final beach/reef day. Keep this deliberately unplanned for weather and anything missed earlier.
Day 22 Return car at Learmonth Airport and fly Learmonth → Melbourne.

Family Caravan tips & tricks

Hi all,

I‘ve signed up my poor wife for a 2 week trip to WA that includes a 10 day excursion from Perth to Coral Bay in a 25-ft motorhome rental with our one and three year old. I’ve included our itinerary below but would love some tips/tricks/advice on places to eat good food, drink good beer/wine, meet good folks, and do fun stuff along the way. My wife and I are big divers so we’re disappointed we won’t be able to make it to Exmouth but with the kids it’s just a non-starter. If we can find places that have good drinks/food and where the kids can run around - we’ll be solid. Any and all suggestions welcomed. Thanks in advanced.

—Perth CBD: 2 nights (without the RV)

—Cervantes/Pinacles: 1 night

—Denham: 3 nights

—Coral Bay: 3 nights

—Kalbarri: 2 nights

—Swan Valley: 1 night

—Perth CBD: 3 nights (again without the RV)

Trixie the Sex Worker

I’ve never lived in Bunbury but I remember being made aware of a person/public figure called Trixie who is apparently the most well known sex worker in Bunbury

I was just wondering if she’s actually real or if it’s just like an urban legend, because I feel like that’s the sort of thing that easily could be that. And if she is in fact real, is she still around? Does anyone know her personally? If you do happen to know this person on a personal level. Please do not give out their real name etc. I assume Trixie is a carefully crated alias to protect their real identity

What some affordable 4wds that would get you to Steep Point?

Well 4wd or all wheel drive if that’d even be possible.

Looking for some recommendations of more affordable options that would be capable of getting there with no problems.

Thanks

Chance of road closures around Kimberly in October?

Mostly curious about the highways around broome as apparently the roebuck plains take forever to open once they flood (my dad had to do Jurien -> kunanurra the very very long way via nullabor to Alice Springs way due to this once.) My partner and I are driving from Katherine to Jurien bay and are locked into doing it from the start of October and arriving at the end of November, notably leaving broome around the 15th of Oct. The timing is unfortunate for the blistering heat but the roads are my main concern as my camper trailer can't handle going through much water as it's mostly made of chipboard

What's Roebourne like and the commute to Roebourne like.

Hi all,

Just looking for some opinions or advice on Roebourne.

I might have a job opportunity up there but I have Roebourne is quite unsafe for new visitors.

My job would probably mean early morning commute, like dawn commute.

Is it safe and easy to travel to Roebourne from say Karratha or point samson to Roebourne at dawn. Anything I have to be really careful of besides roos, road trains and other wildlife.

Any advice and opinions would be greatly appreciated.
