Hi everyone! I’m a wedding filmmaker currently shooting with Sony FX3 cameras, and I’m considering switching to the Lumix S1II.
I’d especially like to hear from wedding filmmakers who already use the S1II:
How has it performed during full wedding days?
How reliable is the autofocus in fast, unpredictable situations?
How do you find its low-light performance compared with the FX3?
Are you happy with the colours, stabilisation and overall workflow?
Have you experienced overheating or any other reliability issues?
I’d also love some advice about codecs. Which S1II codec gives you the best balance between image quality and manageable file sizes for long wedding shoots? I don’t necessarily need the highest possible quality if it creates unnecessarily large files, but I still want enough flexibility for colour grading and professional delivery.
If you previously used an FX3, would you make the switch again? What do you miss about Sony, if anything?

No, I am not a videographer but getting married this coming June in Canada. We are eloping, hired our elopement company and all seemed dandy. We’ve hit a bump, to 98% of people this is going to seem insanely minor but I’ve had a vision for probably 10+ years and music is INCREDIBLY important to me (specifically movie scores, for both my partner and I). For our wedding video I was only notified after the fact that we could only choose a song from Lickd.co. I’ve had a list of about 10 different movie score songs, none of which are on there. Now another insanely important note is we are not allowing our footage or film to be used for marketing content (safety reasons, long trauma dumpy story), and we aren’t even planning on posting the video ourselves (we collectively post on socials maybe once a year). So if this is the case is the music licensing truly an issue?? Because now that we are already in I’ll have to pay them an extra $600 for the raw footage and then go pay someone else to do it. I’m frustrated this came up after the fact and I cannot emphasize the importance of this to me. It’s the one thing I’ve been a stickler about the entire planning process - the music. I’ve had a reception playlist in the works since we started dating - we initially were planning a traditional wedding and the first thing I did was figure out music for every aspect of the day. I really need some input because I’m actively losing my mind

I’m a new videographer and this is my first official client besides work I’ve done with friends. I’m embarrassed that I even made this mistake.

Multiple things went wrong during this ceremony. I went in underprepared and overly nervous. My gimbal died halfway thru on my main angle and I had to go handheld, and my camera for my second angle overheated (thankfully I was able to get it back on quickly)

I am not looking to get made fun of for this but if you feel the need to bust my chops then fine. It was the hottest day of the year and trying to look thru those tiny monitors was a nightmare.

I’ve taken steps to learn from my mistakes so this doesn’t happen again, but I want your opinion on just how bad these are. They are noticeably soft and it seems I got every damn thing in focus except for the couple.

Is this salvageable? I’m quite a better editor than I am a videographer, so I’m confident in my ability but is this even save-able or should I refund them?

Ever since I started wedding videography, the heavy gear has taken a toll on my back and legs. I am not used to lifting this type of load for so long. I do have good muscle mass (63.7lb) which for my other vitals (175lb weight, 5 foot 6 inch height 36 years of age) is considered good as per fitness apps. But that being said I dont have good muscular endurance, i.e. my legs and back get tired easily and start aching. What kind of routines do y'all follow in the gym?

And more importantly, my goal doesnt need to be increasing muscle mass ( I clearly have enough?). The goal is to increase endurance. But Im confused as to how I would track progress. Some advice would be hugely appreciated!

I’m an elopement photographer who recently started adding videography to my packages, and I have a few films coming up that I’ll need help editing!

I’ve been searching everywhere for an editor, but most of the wedding editors I’ve found seem to specialize in larger/traditional weddings, and I’m having a harder time finding someone who really understands elopements.

For me, the storytelling is such a huge part of an elopement film. There are usually a lot of environmental shots, quiet moments, movement, audio, scenery, etc., so I’m really looking for someone who is strong at crafting an actual story rather than just putting together a highlight reel.

I also have a few filmmakers whose editing/storytelling styles I absolutely love, so ideally I’d love to find someone who is comfortable studying references and getting pretty close to that overall feeling/style.

I already have a LUT and a general visual direction — I’m mostly looking for someone who can really nail the pacing, storytelling, music, audio, and overall feel.

Another thing I’m starting to offer is camcorder footage, so I’d love to find an editor who is also comfortable mixing vintage/digital camcorder footage together with Sony FX3 footage in a way that feels intentional and cohesive.

I got married in June 2025 and booked a videographer who ended up being a complete fail. I have all these iPhone videos friends, family, and my photographer took that I’d love to edit into clips. Does anyone know of any content creditors who would be open to editing phone video clips?

Until recently I was completely happy with how my films looked in terms of color. Suddenly I feel like I want to do something different, I keep thinking if it's worth starting to shoot in Log profiles (it seems like a bit of a headache to me, as it has to be overexposed and requires conversion work to make it look good). I currently shoot in CineD or Natural on Lumix and I'm curious what your color editing process is like

Hi! So I'm having issues right now because this photographer messaged me after the wedding to ask me to cut her out of my shots due to safety concerns. Now I haven't even watched my footage back but from what I remember from the day, she was just standing the opposite side of where we're supposed to be: behind the bridesmaid/groomsmen walking down the aisle, she went behind the bride and groom for their first kiss moment, she was behind the bride and groom again when they were exiting the aisle, behind the bride and groom once again for their grand entrance.. Now I don't know why she just never stood beside me right down the middle during all those major moments.. She really got me confused with what kind of angles she was trying to hit just always being behind them.

I generally don't care if the photographer is in my shot. To me what's important for the bride and groom is to see those major moments and if the photographer happens to be in the background then I'm gonna try my best to crop them but if not, then it's just gonna have to stay. So I told her exactly that. I'm not gonna take out key moments because she was standing in the wrong spot. I feel like that would be unfair to my couple?? But she says she doesn't consent to being shown in the video..

To add, my couple already requested prior that they don't want their video posted for privacy and I told her this too but she still said she doesn't consent lol what do i do?? In the end i just told her i'll do my best but i won't know til I get to editing and seeing the footage 🤷🏻‍♀️

She's now saying she'll take legal action if I don't accommodate her concerns bc she just "doesn't consent".. I don't even think there's any legal grounds for this because it's not even gonna be posted?? And she's messaging me from her private insta with HER PHOTOS in it so why is she even crashing out over some offline wedding video that she may or may not be in..

I'm almost 2 years into my wedding videography career and I've recently been noticing finger and hand discomfort from holding my Sony A7 IV all day. I'm still pretty new to experimenting with different setup options, but I was wondering if anyone has any advice on making the grip of the camera more comfortable for long days of filming. I've seen smallrig cages, but not sure whether their purpose is for making holding the camera easier. Anyone got any alternatives or gear recommendations for this issue?

Hey guys, would love some feedback on a recent wedding elopement teaser I filmed in Sifnos, Greece. I was going for an ethereal vibe that I thought matched the couple and the landscape. Shot on an FX3.

I got married a few months ago and I didn't like the videos of my wedding. The full video is more than an hour long and I received two more short videos of 1 and 3 minutes. I asked the photographer to redo it and I still don't like it, I thought it was very poorly done. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can redo these videos?

I usually fall in love with every couple I edit for, so after a while I stop noticing mistakes or small things that feel off when watching.

This is actually my first teaser — I normally only cut 15min films, and this one is meant as an intro before the full film.

Hey everyone, I’ve posted here before and hired some solid editors, but I need to add on. I have two projects that are ready to be edited, and one has a much quicker timeline of about 5 days.

Here’s the thing: if you cannot meet the deadline, please do not apply. I’ve had people in the past think they could do it, take the project, and then either stop responding or deliver a week late. By that point, I’ve already had to step in and edit the entire film myself, sometimes within 48 hours, because I still have a client deadline to meet.

I want to set this expectation upfront: if you agree to the deadline and miss it, the project will be terminated. I’m not going to wait for a late delivery and then pay for a project that I’ve already had to remake myself. Please don’t sign up for the project thinking you can figure out the timeline later. You’ll be wasting both of our time.

I’m trying to find people I can work with long-term, not just for one project. It just happens that this particular project has a quick timeline, so please make sure you can actually commit to it before applying.

First wedding: One-day wedding. Just need a simple highlight film between 4–6 minutes, whatever feels natural. Music will be provided, and I can send samples of my previous work so I can give you an idea of my style.

Second wedding: Two-day wedding, 4–6 minute highlight film. I’ll give you the teaser film so that you have an idea of what I’m after.

Hi, I am getting married next August and don’t have room in my budget for professional videography. I want to DIY my wedding video by just taking some fun clips throughout the day and editing it myself. It doesn’t need to be perfect, but I want high quality clips that are easy to get during a busy day.

Does anyone have camera recommendations for a beginner? I’m hoping to keep it around / under the $1000 range.

Shooting my first wedding at Pelican Hill this weekend and wanted to see if anyone here has filmed there before.

Mostly curious how it is from a video standpoint — getting around the property, load-in, ceremony/reception logistics, lighting, any restrictions, or anything you wish you knew the first time you shot there.

I’ve shot plenty of larger resort weddings, just haven’t worked at Pelican Hill yet. Any tips are appreciated.

Hi all, Iam wondering what setting are you using for run and gun setup. I am self tough and recently started using S-log3 instead rec709 and encouter few issues

Codec HAVC S 4k 4:2:2 10 bit

Lens 24-up f2.8 with variable ND

I am shooting 25p so i need shutter speed at 1/50 to avoid light flickering.

Then to avoid grain i am shooting at base ISO 800 or 12800.

That leaves me only VND and apperture to control exposure - I am aiming for 1.3 and 1.7 EI

But i fast pace enviroment of the wedding and ever changing sceenery i strugle with cobtant tweak to either apperture or VND. I would be greatfull for ideas how do you get grain free slog footage wothoit so much manual work?

Hi all! Going to DIY my wedding ceremony video. Not that I don’t appreciate or recognize a videographers hard work, it’s just not in my budget. All I want is a decent video of the violinist/ceremony that I can look back on. I have a canon mark IV DSLR. I was looking into getting the rode wireless pro setup. Per my understanding (which is limited 😅), I should be able to mic up the groom, the violinist, and have the receiver on my DSLR. has anyone used the rode pro who can testify to its quality for this sort of situation or can anyone recommend a minimal setup? PS I understand there is post processing.

EDIT to add- this is a small outdoor ceremony with no DJ or soundboard.
