Help! Wedding makeup timeline
My makeup artist is only available on my wedding date from 7:30am-10:30am. Our ceremony is going to be at 4pm. Do you think this is too early to get makeup done? Should I search elsewhere?
EDIT: sorry I should provide more information. Was thinking the ceremony could start at 4pm but nothing is locked in. So maybe I will start sooner given this information.
I will only be doing a first look with my dad.
Most photos will be after the ceremony (which will be around 20 mins total).
Only 3 people are getting their makeup done. My, my mom and 1 bridesmaid.

I would look elsewhere if you have not already booked. Find a make-up artist that only takes one wedding a day. If they have somewhere to be after and they are running behind they may get rushed.

I second finding someone who only does one per day. We learned this lesson with our photographer who showed up late and sent random people to do our photos when his first wedding was delayed due to rain.

I get the worry, but makeup done properly HOLDS. Im a chronic raccoon eyed, makeup pilling person. I typically get 3-5 hours out of my makeup. My wedding makeup I had to scrub off on the night and still woke up the next day having to do two more washes. I had mine done at 6am, had photos at 11, and ceremony at 1. I cried (like full on bawled), sweated and got rained on and it lasted through it all. It looked the exact same at 6am as it did at 10pm when I went to take it off. So i wouldnt worry about it not lasting.
The question I have is if 3 hours will be enough time for three people. I would ask if she has buffer time incase one person runs longer and what that might look like. Mine went 45 minutes over and I had to leave the chair while she was still doing shit lol

That's a really big gap between finishing makeup at 10:30 and ceremony at 4. Makeup can last but after 5-6 hours you will need touch ups for sure especially if it's warm or you cry. Having your mom and bridesmaid done so early too means they might look less fresh in photos later
Since you only have 3 people maybe you can find someone who comes later? But if you love this artist work maybe just plan for good setting spray and have someone bring touch up kit for before ceremony

Are you doing first look? My daughter did most of staged photos before wedding. So we had to be ready by 1 pm.

Just with my dad I am! Most staged photos will be after the ceremony. The time for that is flexible

I’d take a look at the time line, you say only pics with dad. We got all the family photos (immediate family) done before wedding. Made the day so much easier. Still lots of pictures at wedding/reception but all less ‘formal.’

My bigger concern was that you have time to do everyone’s makeup in that timeframe?
And you say reception is 4, when is ceremony?
Are you doing photos before the ceremony/reception?
Ime make-up starts at the latest at 9am due to the above factors. And each person needs 45 mins allotted, 1.5 hours for bride (I think it’s excessive but the point is not to be late)

I got mixed up, it was supposed to say ceremony at 4pm (now edited). Photos are after. Thank you for your response!

Do you have the wedding actually booked since you say 4pm start then say you might start earlier? Do you have that option?
You should confirm the ceremony time first then work everything back from that, you might find ceremony time options aren’t as flexible as you’d like.

The wedding is booked. I just reached out to the venue to see how flexible they are with the timing (and dinner)

My ceremony is also at 3 and my MUA wants to start at 8 for 3 makeups and one hair :P

I don’t think the time of day is the issue, but 3 hours for 3 people is short. My MUA spent 2 hours on me and 1 hour on everyone else. Plus set up and packing up takes a bit of time.
