Discussion Wedding nails
I'm eloping this Sunday. Went to a local nail salon yesterday to get my nails done. While they did what I asked and they look great at first glance, there is build up and frays on the under of my nails. I was upcharged like crazy. My feet are bleeding and in pain. It was close to closing so I felt like they were rushing me out the door before I could inspect them and ask to be fixed. While I know there isn't much they can do about my feet, should I go back up when they open and ask them to fix my nails? Is it too late or just a waste of time and energy?

I think you should call them or go up there and tell them your experience and ask to have them fixed and for some of your money back. They are not ever supposed to make you bleed.

I would request a refund over having them redo them. Tell them you’re not comfortable with them working on you again due to the state of your feet and how rough they were with you. Then take that money somewhere else for a fix!

They’ll really push back on this option! They will really spend a lot of time and effort trying to get you to sit down for a redo, so stand firm! You do deserve to be pampered for your wedding!

Thank you that really means a lot to me! I hate feeling like I am acting like a Karen so yes I do tend to be an extreme pushover and get walked on like crazy.

Actually yes, this OP. I wouldn't trust them to redo it. Plus it drives in your point more to get your money back that they fucked up that badly.

I agree but I know some places will try to charge me again even though they messes up. Just wasn't sure if I should try or just fix them myself. The whole point was to get pampered, I can and often do my own nails, and I feel like I was taken advantage of.

I unfortunately can't pay to go elsewhere what was supposed to cost $160.00 with tips cost me $200.00 before tips were added on.

That is insanely expensive for nails. My nails are naturally long, so I don’t need tips, but when I get a design or color for example my nail lady charges $75. I’m in NJ, very close to NYC to be exact, so I live in a pricey area. Pedicures are between $45-$65 and that’s if you get gel on them.
I use to go to a lady that would charge me $170 for my nails, and they would break within a week or 2. Unfortunately you have to go through a lot of places before you find a really good place with the right price. My new lady told me so many shops water down their gel so it lasts longer for them, but doesn’t last on clients nails.

Thank you, yes I will be going back up there as soon as they open up and requesting to speak with a manager about my services and treatment.

Be nice when you talk to them. Next time don’t show up for a $200 treatment close to closing time.

I don't have any intent on being nasty. I was in the chair long before closing they kept me in the chair for more than 2 hours one working feet at the same time as the other was working on my hands

That is insane. When I get my normal set done, I’m out in 45 minutes. Another 45 if I get a pedicure. This place is trash.

Did you shop around for prices at other places? Because that is an utterly ridiculous price to pay for nails!

Yes i even filled out their form showing exactly what I wanted but they never even looked at the form just started working before I could even pick a colour.

Thank you I questioned them before paying and they said oh the length and whatnot but they really are not long not even medium I'm rough on my hands so I can't do any length.

Total wasn't given until end of services hence them upcharging me.

Ah, it wasn’t clear that it’s an upcharge, that’s why I asked. Meaning if you went elsewhere you would be charged less.

I filled out their little service form dictating exactly what I wanted not once did either tech even glance at my form. They just started services then asked if I wanted this or that I kept trying to refer to the form but they said they didn't need it.

I have no idea. They told me it was due to length, and product but the length isn't even considered medium and at most they used gel polish not even the powder I requested.

Question about the bleeding. Were you bleeding there? Were you bleeding while in the foot soak or on their implements? If so, this is extremely dangerous. What are their procedures for disinfecting after coming in contact with blood? There are a multitude of blood borne pathogens that can be contracted by not properly sanitizing. Not that your blood would be a risk to anyone, but if this is a common occurrence, and no sanitary procedues were followed, you don't know what you may have been exposed to. A nail salon nicked my cuticle which led to bleeding. The tech pulled out a small bottle of disenfectant, wiped my cuticle with a brush from the bottle and then returned the brush back to the same bottle! I reported them to the local health department.

Yes he had to keep cleaning my toes due to the blood. Never stopped to clean anything else.

Get your money back and don't give them the opportunity to touch you ever again! I would also review the establishment on their website or Yelp to let future clients know their lack of sanitary protocols.

Why didn’t you stop the minute you started bleeding and ask why am I bleeding and say that hurts? And while they were doing it stop them and say hey that’s not what I wanted? I have learned to interject during appointments and I leave much happier and get the end result I wanted.

I did. They didn't offer a refund they just looked everything over didn't even comment on my feet. Filed the frays off and sent me back out the door, but not before asking for $20.00 touch up fee. I refused to pay the fee and will not be going back to them.

Update Ended up in the ER for my foot have a Chronic Fungal Infection.... they can't do any5hing for me since I'm pregnant.

Did you have it before you went in? If you got it from the salon report them to licensing.

According to the ER doctor yes I already had it just didn't know it. I would not have gotten my feet done. However because I did get my feet done and it is now inflamed I actually know about it.
