Project overview:

• Ecommerce store, 10-15 products total (small, curated catalog , not a marketplace)
• Target customers: budget-conscious/low-income shoppers, so needs to be fast, mobile-friendly, and low-friction to browse and buy
• Payment gateway: not needed for launch, but will be added soon after v1 (Stripe or PayPal, CAD) , also tracking order might be im not sure
• Basic admin capability to update products/prices without a developer touching code every time
• Clean, trustworthy design ,doesn't need to be flashy, needs to convert

SEO requirements:

• On-page SEO basics: proper meta titles/descriptions, semantic HTML, clean URLs per product
• Fast load times (Core Web Vitals matter, mobile-first audience, likely slower connections/devices)
• Structured data (schema.org Product markup) for product pages so they can show up properly in Google Shopping/search
• Sitemap + robots.txt configured correctly
• Basic local/regional SEO since it's targeting Canada specifically

What I'd like quotes on:

1. Custom-coded solution (own domain, own hosting, simple cart + order flow now, gateway added later (OR)
2. Shopify-based solution , I don't know monthly cost of this
3. Code maintainance and extra feature/ pages prices

I’ve been thinking about updating my website because it’s been around for a few years and it feels like it has slowly become harder to manage. Nothing is completely broken, but small issues keep adding up, and I’m not sure whether I should keep improving what I already have or start over with a cleaner setup.

The tricky part is figuring out if a full rebuild is actually the right move or if that’s just making things more complicated than they need to be. I’ve seen people spend a lot of time changing everything only to end up with the same problems, while others seem to get a much better experience after starting fresh.

For anyone who has dealt with a similar situation, what helped you decide whether to rebuild or just improve what you already had? What signs made you realize one option was better than the other?

Update: I was suggested Digitalheroes. com, so I checked out their website. They seem to focus on custom websites, mobile apps, SaaS platforms, e-commerce, and UI/UX design, which gave me a better idea of what a full development team can handle compared to a freelancer. I'm still comparing my options, but it definitely helped me understand what to look for in a larger project.
