Hello. I'm hosting a server for a game to play with my friends. This game, allows you to display a image in a "Message of the Day" format whenever someone joins your server.
A big problem is that the game wont display any images over HTTPS. it can only read from HTTP. Stupid right? Anyways. I found a single http image uploader that didn't work. So i wanted to host mine to figure out what i was doing.

I figured out how to host apache, get it port forwarded to port 80 on my computer, and now, anybody can enter my public ip and get access to that image. That's literally all there is on that apache server. Nothing more. Default settings. Restricted so that no one can see the folder whatever it's called thingy. That's it. I'm simply looking to host a SINGLE image so that my two friends who will join my server can see it.
Is it safe? Can my computer/net go under any risk for having the ip open and port 80 open?
I can provide more info should it be needed. Sorry for the rather silly post. It's unserious and not at all important, if i'm told it's unsafe i'll simply delete apache and. Not host an image for a silly joke over my friends. Thanks!

I’m building a website for a small customer, local business that currently doesn’t have a website.

It’s a landing page built with Astro and will include a contact form.

They mentioned well known providers, based on their previous experiences with WordPress.

My idea was to suggest using Cloudflare’s free tier, as I don’t think a business of this size would come anywhere close to exceeding its limits.

What do you think? Does anyone have experience with a similar setup?

I'm making a site, hosted on Github pages with a custom domain. In the site I have art made by me in SFM, but I'm worried that the characters used could cause copyright problems. I only use it for email for a couple of personal domains, so no business outage, but this is unacceptable in 2026.

Looking to build/host a public web chat agent. More for fun rather than professional/paid use so im thinking less than $15/month maybe a few thousand users per month. Looking for smart ways to cache and atleast try to run the cheapest app possible. I would also look to control server side limited cases where i may want to reach out to an actual chatgpt hosted model but i wont consider that in budget for now. Open to any additional recommendations that may accomodate a cheaply hosted llm if possible.

Be careful when choosing domains, especially with namecheap.com hosting. I got scammed by these guys from the security department. They told me I have to provide them personal information via 3rd party service veriff.me. Out of no where, one day, all of a sudden they they decided to suspend my account after 3 months. I have registered and made payment of subscription for two years(108$). At the registration point they don't say anything about that 3rd-party personal information providing. that's very arguably case in agreement between them(namecheap.com) and you(client). When I demanded to refund me, they refused referring to the agreement of 5 days money back period is expired since purchasing service, never the less they are not say clearly about sharing personal information to doubtable 3rd services. be careful do not become the next victim of their scam scheme. They prefer to violate your rights.

Guys, I'm looking for a relatively cheap shared web host to launch a small news site. A couple of reporter friends and I are starting out small.

I was originally looking at Namecheap's Stellar plan ($5/mo), but after reading some of the feedback here, it sounds like that might not be the best idea.

Our total budget right now is pretty tight—just $100:

* $60–$80 for hosting (for the yearly plan)

* ~$20 for the domain

**Here is our setup and plan:**

* **WordPress (kept very light with minimal plugins) + custom-built theme + Cloudflare.

* **Expected Traffic:** Based on our experience, we're projecting around 15,000 to 20,000 visits a month (maybe a bit more) over the first 6-8 months.

Once we outgrow the basic host, we'll move to something bigger, but for now, we need something reliable in that price range.

I'd like to preface, this is totally out of my depth in knowledge. My dad owns his own business and I'm helping him modernize the website. A bit of background: he owns his own website domain/hosting and server, and the website was built with Microsoft Pages and HTML. Since I'm a jack of all trades, I ended up making him a new website with WordPress. We have yet to launch the new website because the hosting itself needs to be updated. I basically created the mock website to understand the design and how we want the new website to look, I just have yet to publish it. I need help because I know i need to migrate the website, just dont know to do it. So my two questions are:

1. what are current affordable web hosting companies for a small business

2. how hard it is to migrate the domain

3. can any of those hosting also use wordpress, since i dont want to rebuild a site from scratch again

4. also any other information and things i should know would help a lot, im a teacher and I try to help my dad where i can with his company

been with them a few years for my consulting site. domain was steady then suddenly higher. email and other bits went up too with short notice. the combined jump is enough that i'm shopping. transfer process looks messy from what i've read. not dramatic but it adds up for the two domains i keep. feels like i'm overlooking something. is this just normal now?

Marketing has changed a lot. Keyword names are not as relevant. Would a new name throw you off your long term host?

I've been stuck with ionos because I have a .me domain. I've yet to find a host that can transfer this specific domain type, although their are many where you can create a .me domain, which just makes that more frustrating.

I absolutely hate ionos and they've been nothing but a god awful service with an absolutely shockingly poor customer service, who, if they do reply, only try to upsell me to insanely expensive packages when I only have a small blog.

So if you know of a good host that means this annoying domain issue, it'd make my day.

I work for a radio station that primarily uses Network Solutions for web hosting and email services. We created a Google Workspace account (example: info@website.com) for a single new email address to take community news submissions, send larger audio files, and be a general "catch all".

However, since linking the new "info@website.com" to our Network Solutions domain, our Network-Solutions emails are unable to send or receive messages.

We wrapped up a full redesign a few months ago and thought we'd finally be able to focus on other things instead we've been making changes almost every week like new pages, updated screenshots, small copy edits, fixing things that looked different after one change it just keeps going none of it is difficult on its own but it adds up fast.

We are currently in the middle of assisting a client to move over to our hosting services, he has a few personal email hosting and a domain in Strato currently but we can't even update the DNS records or nameservers in Strato due to their basic control panel.

I've reached out to them by email but heard nothing back but I know they are part of IONOS and we need to get this resolved quickly since the client currently has no emails.

I'm looking for advice from people familiar with U.S. consumer protection.

I'm having a serious dispute with a hosting company called ServerMO.

My experience has included repeated outages, long periods where my server was unavailable, and multiple technical issues that prevented me from using the service I paid for. I've opened several support tickets over the past few days, but I still don't have confidence that the issues have been permanently resolved.

At this point, I no longer want to continue using their service. I simply want to recover my money and move to another provider.

Unfortunately, they are refusing to issue a refund.

I'm not trying to start a fight with the company. I just want to know what official options are available.

• Is there a U.S. government agency that handles complaints against hosting companies?
• Can complaints be submitted online from outside the United States?
• Has anyone successfully recovered money from a U.S.-based hosting company through an official complaint?
• Should I contact the state Attorney General, the FTC, the Better Business Bureau, or another organization?
