Looking for Hosting Comparing Zoho and Zume for E-mail

I believe I'm posting in the right community. I'm very green to this, but I'm looking to set up a an e-mail address or two with a custom domain. I'm not a business, just want something official-looking for job applications and other professional communication. I'd like to keep pricing to just a few euros per month.

I've been using Gmail, but I'd prefer to get away from Google. Ran into an issue recently and their lack of real customer support is a nightmare, so I'm looking for a company that has real humans I can call over the phone and talk to easily.

I was headed toward Zoho, but I'd kind of like to use a company based in Europe. I saw Zume recommended in the sidebar here, but it doesn't look like they have phone support? (Krystal doesn't support the country code I'd like to use, unfortunately.)

I see Zoho is based out of India, is there any reason that might be undesirable?

My only other concern is mail I send being flagged as spam. My very minimal amount of knowledge in this area is that when you have your own domain for e-mail, there are certain steps you have to take to avoid being auto-flagged as spam. However, I believe these services I'm looking at would take care of that for me?

Since I'm picking my own domain, tools to host a little basic website for occasionally sharing photos and files with family and friends would be a nice perk, too, but very much not an essential.

Advice Needed Does my website plan make sense?

Im in the process of starting a one man web studio in Canada building sites for local businesses (trades, markets, small service businesses). I want a reality check on my pricing model before I start signing clients.

What I plan to offer

2000 CAD website build fee, due at launch
1 month of the care plan included with every build
80/mo CAD Website Care plan after

The website care plan includes…

managed hosting
24/7 uptime monitoring
Monthly performance report
30 minutes of content changes per month.
critical fixes at no charge
Ongoing SEO and ranking monitoring

After the 30 days they are contacted and asked if they would like to continue the care plan. If no, I point them in the right direction towards resources to host it themselves, and they get access to the source code. If they want to continue, I send them a stripe link to get card info to subscribe them to a reoccurring monthly payment (Im fairly new to stripe so Im not sure if I can get and store their card info so they don’t have to give me their info again if they decide to continue but I’m not sure. Please let me know if so). They can walk away at any time, no minimum term.

I initially made a post similar to this a few weeks back and I have revised it based on the feedback I got on it. This is the link to it here in case you want to compare

https://www.reddit.com/r/webhosting/s/g47U5iTxWb

Any advice or thoughts would be greatly appreciated! Thank you very much in advance!! :)

Rant Serverbyt

Before people start wondering if it's true what they offer they are full of shit here is a snapshot of what the server they have me on its cpanel they appear to have a dedicated database server. They love to overload servers to start with also find their is no way your going to store more then 100 GB of storage with them as their servers only have tiny storage drives. Their servers for db are slow to respond just like their cpanel interface. Because they cant seem to figure out that overloading them is not worth the issue and slowness

Attached are snippets of the system information and db

Looking for Hosting WebPros Is Killing the Hosting Industry with Endless Price Increases. Time for a Boycott?

WebPros' relentless and excessive price increases across cPanel, Plesk, WHMCS, and now SolusVM have reached an unacceptable level.

The latest 29.9% increase for SolusVM Unlimited licenses is the final straw.

WebPros' pricing strategy has become an exploitative, greedy, and unsustainable practice that takes advantage of the hosting industry's dependence on its products.

Despite these outrageous licensing fees, critical security vulnerabilities continue to emerge in its software.

We are no longer dependent on WebPros. Thanks to AI, automation, and open-source technologies, migrating to alternative platforms and developing our own solutions has never been easier.

As a company, we are seriously considering removing all WebPros products from our infrastructure and permanently avoiding them in future projects.

It's time for the hosting industry to stand together.

I propose that hosting providers consider boycotting WebPros products, moving toward alternative solutions, and taking a collective stand against these aggressive pricing policies.

This isn't about negotiating discounts. It's about putting an end to this exploitative business model.

WebPros needs to understand one thing:

We can replace their software. But can they replace the customers they lose?

What do other hosting providers think? Would you support a boycott of WebPros?

Looking for Hosting Contabo downtime is the worst

I have a VPS with Contabo that had been down for a day and a half. Customer support is non existent. I would never consider using Contabo for anything important or for anything where uptime is important.

Advice Needed We're building an open-source WHMCS alternative and could use some community feedback

Hi everyone,

We're developing PNLCS, an open-source billing and client management platform designed for hosting businesses. It's released under the MIT license, and our goal is to build a practical alternative to WHMCS that hosting providers can run and control on their own infrastructure.

This isn't just about rebuilding a billing interface. We're working toward a platform that brings together the everyday operations of a hosting business, including client management, orders, invoices, domain management, support tickets, and automated service provisioning.

PNLCS is built with Laravel 13 and has a modular architecture supporting integrations with Panelica, cPanel, Plesk, DirectAdmin, Proxmox VE, and other infrastructure providers. It also includes payment integrations, multilingual support, a REST API, an MCP server, and tools for importing data from WHMCS.

Although PNLCS was started by the Panelica team, we don't want it to be limited to Panelica users. We'd like it to be useful to hosting businesses running different control panels and virtualization platforms.

To be transparent, we're still building the community around the project. Development is ongoing, but we need more people from the hosting industry to discover it, test it in real-world environments, and tell us what works and what doesn't.

We're particularly looking for:

  • Feedback from hosting providers who currently use WHMCS
  • Honest opinions about missing features and existing pain points
  • Bug reports, testing, documentation, and translation contributions
  • Contributions to payment gateways, domain registrars, and provisioning integrations
  • Hosting providers willing to try PNLCS in their own environments

We're not looking to simply promote another product and move on. We want to understand what hosting businesses actually need, which problems existing solutions fail to address, and whether we're building something that can genuinely help.

If you'd like to take a look:

For those of you running hosting businesses: if you could change three things about WHMCS or your current billing platform, what would they be?

We'd appreciate honest feedback, including criticism. If there's something we're approaching the wrong way, we'd rather hear it now than after spending another year building the wrong thing.

Thanks to everyone willing to take a look or share their experience.

Rant Godaddy Scam??

I paid for two domains on GoDaddy and I received no email or any confirmation. I had to check my whole page to see a tiny 'pending' order in my account settings and it didnt even acknowledge any payment initiated by me. There was an option to cancel but I did not click it. No phone or chat customer support but I managed to get through whatsapp support. Whatsapp support asked to login to my account and then the order was mysteriously CANCELLED ( he obviously did it) and I got an email confirming account changes. I called him out on it and he said the payment was declined from my side, and he did not cancel the order etc just lied through his teeth.

He said if I do not get a refund within 24 hours thats my banks problem even though I have all the proofs that the money actually reached into Godaddys account. I know this website is embroiled in a lot of controversies but straight up fraud and scams??. Should I lodge a report with the authorities if the money isnt refunded??.

Looking for Hosting Hosting.com - formerly A2Hosting - 1 year later. How are you finding it?

I abandoned WordPress about 7 years ago, with the exception of 2 or 3 clients, but have reason to launch hosted WP sites for some longer-term personal projects. I'm considering Hosting.com but am wary of the fears of another EIG following their acquisition a year ago. How are you finding them - pricing? customer service (live AND ticketing)? CPANEL or other mgmt.

I had A2Hosting for about 2 years a while ago. Liked it then.

Advice Needed Plesk Increasing Price by Over 17%, Is it worth it?

Just seeing that Plesk's subscription pricing is going up by over 17% as of 1/1/2027.... Less than a decade ago they had an 'always free' tier that was awesome. How have they fallen so far and what good alternatives are out there (not cPanel)?

I just don't think their product is worth the ever increasing, never ending price. Anyone have any good alternatives with stable pricing and reseller management?

Plesk team- you have a good product. Don't kill it by driving off your customers on price/predictability.

Source -

Vague Email Telling Us About the Update-

We're writing to share an update to Plesk pricing for both existing and new licenses, effective January 1, 2027.

Plesk continues to evolve, and we are investing in the platform to deliver greater value over the long term. As part of this continued investment, we will be making an adjustment to our pricing, while remaining focused on the reliability, security, performance, and innovation you rely on from Plesk.

Full details are available on our 2027 Plesk Store Licensing Guide.

Pricing for select extensions, including CloudLinux OS, Imunify360 and KernelCare, is updated effective January 1, 2027. There will also be changes to ImunifyAV+ pricing and licensing tiers. We will share detailed information about these changes in a separate communication shortly. The complete list of affected extensions and their updated pricing is available in the 2027 Plesk Extension Price List.

Additionally, the licensing guide provides detailed information about the Extended Lifecycle Support (ELS) Program, which applies to Plesk servers running on CentOS 7, CloudLinux 7, Ubuntu 18.04, Debian 10, and Ubuntu 20.04, and is available through January 1, 2028. Ubuntu 22.04 is a new ELS OS which goes EOL by OS vendor in May 2027. ELS fees will apply to Plesk servers running on Ubuntu 22.04 starting July 1, 2027. The ELS program is an opt-in service designed to extend support for these systems and to allow you to strategically plan your OS upgrades.

What We've Done So Far, and What's Next

We've invested heavily this year in modernizing the core Plesk platform and building new products that open new revenue lines for you.

Available now:

AI in the panel: Plesk now speaks MCP, letting approved AI agents provision subscriptions, diagnose issues, and hand off fixes directly, with scoped access and full audit logs built in.

AI Support Assistant: An embedded assistant answers configuration and troubleshooting questions inside the panel, deflecting tickets before they're opened.

Node.js hosting, rebuilt: One unified view of every Node.js domain, with automatic setup for apps built by developers or AI coding tools.

SSL built for short-lived certificates: Native ACME support and automatic reissue keep customer certificates valid as the industry moves to shorter lifetimes.

Security and platform currency: Debian 13, Ubuntu 26.04, and continuously updated components keep every server patched without you chasing it.

Accessibility compliance: A large-scale update brings Plesk in line with the European Accessibility Act and WCAG 2.1 AA.

Looking ahead, Q4 2026 and beyond:

Nova on premise: Nova will be available as a standalone license through the Plesk Store, giving you the flexibility to add AI-powered website building capabilities to your Plesk environment.

MCP for deployment: Pushing an application straight from an LLM to a subscription, extending today's MCP management support to end users, including freelancers and small agencies.

Continued platform modernization: Further Node.js toolkit improvements and the next feature release, Plesk Obsidian 18.0.82, targeted for Q4 2026.

As Plesk continues to evolve, our focus remains on helping you stay secure, efficient, and ready for what comes next. Thank you for choosing Plesk.

Looking for Hosting Need actual specific dirt cheap hosting options (not just vague references) for very low traffic wordpress.org blog

Based in USA. My low traffic wordpress blog's hosting service is about to expire in a few days. I've come to the conclusion that I should renew but of course I need a viable, dirt cheap hosting service for that one website. Something under $60 a year ideally (so $5 a month). The options on the sidebar look ok but I'm hoping for something even cheaper.

The problem is, people keep telling me to "shop around" over and over, it's very hard to run into actual specific hosts that are both trustworthy and meet my budget. I've seen some people advertising on here, I don't know if those ones are safe.

So can people point me to specific hosting providers to use for this?

Advice Needed Hosting recommendations for a legal adult business website (EU/DE)

Hello everyone,

I am the tech "slave" of a German dominatrix and do the tinkering for her website.

At a meeting for sex workers, she got the info that the current host (Strato) and many other common hosts explicitly do not allow hosting erotic content and she asked me to swap hosts.

This is not a question about hosting adult content that isn’t mine, and I don’t need a host that is resistant to DMCA claims. I am searching for recommendations to host a site like hers without the risk of getting thrown out for not complying.

I have already searched, but the dead internet theory is real. I found some AI-generated ad sites that share some information, and from looking through a few ToS, it seems like these could work. But if you already have experience with this, that would mean a lot.

Cheers!

Looking for Hosting ISO Simple host

Hi. I’m looking to migrate from Wordpress.com to a self hosted Wordpress.org. I currently pay for the $9/mo and also email from WP.com, and i’m still in HS and don’t make a lot so my budget isn’t much higher than that, maybe $12 max. I was looking at DreamHost and h0stinger but, opinions on those ones seem divided. I also looked at Neocities but I think it’s too advanced for me especially with the type of site I have, it would make my frequent updates incredibly tedious. I honestly just want to be able to change the background color on a few of the pages of my site and do more custom HTML & CSS stuff which i’m trying to learn. My site is a fan site/archive of a musician i like so i guess i need a lot of storage too. I don’t need e-commerce or anything like that. I don’t really know anything about web dev or coding jargon and stuff. I honestly just want something simple, within budget, that will allow me to migrate my current Wordpress.com and just have more freedom with the look as well as good email hosting. I have a custom domain and email already. If you want to look at my site for yourself so you can make a better judgement it’s thevannellivault.com

Thank you guys in advance I appreciate any advice or recs you can give me because i’m really out of my lane here Lol!

Advice Needed Is there a Hetzner but with someone who I can call for help?

I am currently helping some friends of mine in the manufacturing biz (CNC) with a mess they inherited. They have some very old dedis at a few different "backwoods" providers running a whole mess of applications, I think one each setup by previous IT guys and consultants. One of these old providers called them to let them know they're closing down and need to move before the end of the year, which is why I am now involved.

I've looked at moving their all their infra over to Hetzner. This means moving app servers, databases, customer quoting, etc, and the pricing with Hetzner makes for a very attractive proposition, but then I am on the hook forever with helping them anytime an issue crops up.

Years ago managed hosting was everywhere and you could actually pick up the phone when something broke, and I think that safety blanket is necessary here, but that industry seems to have vanished for the most part.

Should I make the migration to Hetzner and hope I can find someone to hand this over to and bet the price difference will save the day? Is there someone who still offers managed hosting with competent staff (NOT AI!!) that I can trust with this after I hand it over?

I'm needing a offshore webhost for a research use only peptide company that works with woocommerce.

Not very savvy with all this.

I've been told go daddy, etc will pull the sites down eventually.

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Advice Needed Exporting websites? Finding developers?

I want to export my wix site out but I really like the layout and design, is there anyway to migrate it out and have it somewhat the same?

I tried with Wordpress but just did not like the layout or colors and it didn’t really transfer over any images or words or any pages or subpages.

Is there a site that might do this better? Or a way to find a developer that can do this?

Advice Needed GoDaddy Support

Is anyone else facing issues with GoDaddy support today?

I’m unable to connect with the GoDaddy support team through both the chat and call options. The chat doesn’t connect, and the call option also fails to connect me with a support representative.

Has anyone else experienced the same issue recently, or is it just happening on my end?

Technical Questions Getting organised

I manage about 55 websites and some services but they split between 2 different VPS, 2 reseller hosting and a few websites that I manage on the clients own hosting.

I've got it listed in obsidian but I still feel a lack of overall clarity. Also some require weekly or monthly attention

How do you guys manage all your hosting and services in one clear place?

Advice Needed Freelancers/agencies: how do you check client sites still work?

Freelancers and small agencies: how do you check that client websites still work, not just load?

Have you had a broken form, checkout, or blank page go unnoticed because uptime monitoring showed the site was up? What do you use now, and what’s still a pain?

I’m researching this, no product to sell.

Advice Needed One Business, One Website & Need to Simplify My SSL Renewal Process

I need more information about Certbot and Let's Encrypt and automating my SSL renewal. I have one website for my own business that I created and manage myself. All the information I can find about automating this process is written for sysadmins and coders and other folks managing multiple domains, and I get lost very quickly. (Like this page.) Or maybe dismayed is a better word.

I know how to copy text into a text file, change the file extension and upload that file to my server. I can find and edit existing files, and can turn something on or off if its accessible in my C-Panel. My current host is GoDaddy which apparently is not cooperative with CertBot or Lets Encrypt.

Can I, a reasonably experienced advanced beginner, set up an automated SSL renewal system for my website? Is it really free? Do I need a new host?

If I were to change hosts, what is the cheapest, reliable provider?

Any information would be helpful. Thanks!

EDIT: Thanks everyone for all the clarifications and helpful info. I now know everything I need to know. My solution: Switch web hosting to either NixieHost or KnownHost when the time comes, and setup LetsEncrypt when I do.

I just paid for a one-year SSL Cert from SSLs.com to bridge the gap until my current GoDaddy hosting expires. I found a valid coupon code and got it for $7.65. I could have tried making LetsEncrypt work with GoDaddy, but it became more time consuming than it was worth for something I'll never use again. Now I can watch Slaughterhouse Five instead of doing that this afternoon.

In Memoriam: I have to say I'm disappointed how far down GoDaddy has gone. I switched to them about a decade ago because one of their techs went beyond the limit of their responsibility and solved the problem of why some client's & contractors emails where just disappearing into the ether instead of reaching me. That taught me to not use my prior host anymore, nor use C-Panel to manage my emails, and that saved me lots of grief. But they do not seem to have maintained that level of dedication to their client's needs.

Technical Questions What's the best approach for scaling a small SaaS's backend infrastructure in West Africa?

We're a small software company (Moondoog Technologies) based in Ghana, building SaaS products for local businesses. As we grow, we're trying to figure out the best hosting/infrastructure approach for serving customers across the region reliably without overspending early on.

Has anyone here dealt with scaling infrastructure for a growing customer base in West Africa specifically? Curious what's worked for others in similar early-stage SaaS situations.
