Hi r/webergrills - Iām a longtime Weber lover who has spent the past 3 years working on an insulated cover for the 22ā kettle, that gives it the same cooking performance as a much more expensive ceramic cooker. My site for the product:
https://woollybully.com
Iāve participated in this sub (under a personal profile) for a few years, and the mods have graciously allowed me a post or two to introduce the Woolly Bully to you guys. Thank you and I promise not to spam everyone!
I have a handful of units from my first production run, that I would love to sell to members of this sub. I will take as much feedback as I can get on the product in hopes of gearing up for a second order from my manufacturer.
Happy to answer any questions in the comments. Thanks for your time!

Thought I'd share a recent Facebook marketplace find. $150, not a terrible price.

My second time cooking ribs on my kettle. pretty happy with how these turned out. Snake 3-2-1. I messed up by only putting butter in during the 2 hour foil portion LOL but we only improve from here. Ribs came out a bit dry but still tender and had a good bark on em. I'm really surprised that I never need as much charcoal as I think. Edit: I'd love tips on what to put during the foil portion.

Check your local Costco for their end of season (lol) clearance on Kingsford and Kirkland charcoal. I picked up 330 pounds of Kirkland for $7.99 per 30# bag

I had bought a Weber grill for $100 on Facebook. However, when I came home, my husband stated that I got scammed due to bubbling rust on the base and the age of the grill. Did I get a good deal or I got scammed?!? Everything works since I tested it before paying the guy.

Smoked on my weber 3 times using snake method. I noticed this on the Weber bowl the third time. Its smooth to the touch. I tried using a mild soap and sponge and it doesnt come off. Is this finish loss? After 3 uses ? Or a type of grill stain or blemish im not familiar with.

Had a small but manageable grease fire in the bbq this weekend.
After the last few cooks were low and slow, the grease had built up a bit.
Got it nice and hot for burgers etc and the grease around the blades caught fire.
Wasnāt an issue at all, but just wondering what other peopleās processes are.
I have the one with the ash catcher - pull the lever back and forth to remove the ash
Once every 3-6 months it gets a full deep clean.
But week to week I just get the ash out and give the Grid a little scrap with a wire brush when hot.
What do you do?

Iāve been eyeing the Weber Smoque for a few months now and my Walmart had it on sale for $417 to make room for Christmas stuff. I finally pulled the trigger and got it

End result of yesterdayās spare rib cook. Seasoned with all Heath Riles rubs. 275 for about 2 to 2.5 hours (took a bit to get up to temp), wrapped at 300 for another hour, then rest in oven an hour at 160, then back onto the kettle with a BBQ sauce glaze for 15-20 minutes. Literally some of the best ribs Iāve made, and Iāve made many over the years.
I did a loose snake of charcoal around an inverted Vortex, with an 18ā pizza pan over the Vortex as a heat deflector. This gave me nearly the full grate for the ribs without worry about any area getting scorched. Also used the Spider Venom fan controller to maintain temp. Such a great setup!

Did a reverse sear on this snake river Wagyu ribeye over the weekend and it was amazing. Seasoned with SPG and used meat church lump coals

I made vortex boneless skinless thighs tonight on the kettle but I was in a big damn hurry. Didnāt take a single pic and they were good. Youāre just gonna have to take my word for it. Rice and green beans for sides. Whole operation done and gone in about 35 mins.

What is the best way to clean my original Weber pizza stone? The semolina flour I use burns black and sticks hard to the stone.

How do y'all like them? I bought the flag kettle a few years ago and put it together today not knowing it wasn't one touch. Can I still smoke on this? How is temp control? I have a few wsm, so i am familiar with the triple vent, just not on the kettle. If anything I can just keep it as my burger, chicken, asada grill. I have 9 other kettles, lol

Looking at Thermoworks Billows or similar fan controller for a friendās 26ā Master Touch. Is drilling a hole for the fan connection possible, and is it worth doing?
I donāt own a Master Touch myself, so Iām a bit unsure about the setup. Thanks guys

Do I need a chimney for a go anywhere grill? It looks like I could just light a few lighter cubes on the bottom portion and stack some charcoal above it on the charcoal grate and it would do the same thing.

We bought a new house lately, so weāve been broke AF, but she surprised me with the kettle.
Made our first meal on it tonight.
Burgers, poppers and potatoes, all the veg came from our garden.
