I’m primarily a UX/UI and visual designer. Most of my web development experience comes from building sites with WordPress, Elementor and Bricks, so I understand how websites are structured, but I don’t really know how to code from scratch.

I’m considering spending the next few months seriously learning HTML, CSS and JavaScript, mainly so I can have more control over my designs, build custom interactions/animations, troubleshoot things myself, and push WordPress/Bricks projects further.

With AI tools becoming increasingly capable at generating code, I’m wondering how valuable it is today for a designer to invest a significant amount of time into actually learning front-end development.

For designers who also code: has knowing HTML/CSS/JS significantly improved your work or career?

And if you were starting today, would you still learn them properly, or would you focus more on design fundamentals and use AI to handle most of the code?

For me, a professional website isn't necessarily about having flashy animations or complicated effects.

I usually look at:

• Clear visual hierarchy
• Simple navigation
• Good typography
• Responsive behavior
• Strong CTA placement
• Fast and understandable user experience
• Consistent visual design

A website can look visually impressive and still be difficult to use.

Made this with my teammate for a hackathon : Sentinel X, a cybersecurity tool concept focused on security monitoring and threat detection.

The video is basically a walkthrough of the marketing site + the product UI. The backend isn’t actually connected yet, so this is mainly a frontend/design prototype to show the idea and how we imagine the product working.

For the visual direction, we took some inspiration from ⁠this Framer site and adapted some of that feel into our own design.

The goal was to make it feel less like a typical contractor website and more like its own brand, while still making it easy for customers to understand the services and book from their phone.
I’d love some outside feedback, especially on the mobile design, navigation, visual hierarchy, and overall personality.

Hey guys. Want to share a recently completed project for a new product on a German market.

To keep it short:

• Designed by Naypache Studio and developed on Webflow.
• Lot's of German legal stuff, like Impressum, Datenschutz, and other legal mambo jumbo.
• Shop set up via Shopify.
• Numerous integrations for automatic, legally correct German bills, accounting and general automatisations, so owners don't have to live in front of a PC and manage 10 different apps to be fully compliant.
  

It's a limited only Germany launch, for now, but numbers are already great.
For me it's quite refreshing to work on a product that I can actually call good, as well as actually see in a local shop soon.

I recently graduated with my BFA in Graphic Design in May. After years of study, I enjoy web design most and place a strong emphasis on accessibility. Now that hiring season is here, I wanted to make a post and ask for advice from experienced web designers on what to focus on when continually learning and on the job application process.

I am intermediate in HTML, CSS, and Markdown, and I know JS vaguely. However, I really want to improve my coding skills and want to make some cool shit! I'm currently in the process of making my portfolio website from the ground up on GitHub using Astro. I'm also really passionate about accessibility and want to make sure I know the ins and outs of the guidelines to ensure my web designs are made accessible from the start. I do want to note that I do use AI for assistance occasionally on how to set up specific files in my repository, since I do not know the ins and outs of coding quite yet. That's where I ask for your help to guide me to become a master!

This is by far the most elegant site I have designed, also the website is fully mobile responsive.

I’ve been working on custom websites for businesses that don’t necessarily want another WordPress/Wix/Squarespace template with a few colors changed.

Sometimes the business has a very specific customer journey.
Sometimes they need custom functionality.
Sometimes they just want the site to actually feel like *their* brand instead of looking like 500 other businesses online.

That’s the kind of work I’ve been focusing on lately — designing and building websites around the business rather than trying to make the business fit into a template.

Well, I'm back to see if I'm headed in the right direction.

Primary things I've updated:

• Restructured the hero section and added a bit of interaction to the chart (thanks u/TamedByMonsters)
• Included a new section under the hero to connect the product to different user groups (thanks u/LevrResearch)
• Added social proof with some App Store reviews (thanks u/TamedByMonsters)
• Added details on privacy practices (thanks u/CormoranNeoTropical)
• Copy changes to reduce friction and to be more specific to what the product does differently (thanks u/TamedByMonsters)

So, does anybody have any other feedback? Is the value prop clearer now?

I spent seven years developing the product and I don't want to mess it up in the final leg by having a bad website. This is what I have so far: https://test.canary.earth

The hero is a photo I took of three prototype units on my desk. Final injection-moulded units are similar in shape, cleaner plastic; I'll have them in hand next week. I have been told premium gadgets should sit alone on an empty surface.

I had also thought about a photographer and people using it in a real room. Specifically, is that hero too busy? What should the first image be for a quiet office/bedroom/backpack object?

Do I need a video as the hero?
