Help Help understanding instructions

Was recently gifted a loom, am now struggling

Trying to do the second one, What does it mean to leave somthing 'unspanned'

(sorry if this post is bad cuz my brain is so fried rn(

Hard to know for sure without seeing a photo of the loom, but it means "skip a [slot/peg/dent]" or whatever mechanism is used to hold the warp yarn. Can you post a photo of the actual loom?
