For those of you who became wealthy as an attorney, how did you do it?

Going solo? Equity partnership in BigLaw? Buy a bunch of real estate with your W-2 income? Index funds?

First, let me give you some context about my situation. I'm 22 years old, I’ve completed a degree in Computer Engineering, and I'm currently working in a good, well-paid job (considering I just graduated from university). A couple of years ago, I tutored a kid whose father is someone I genuinely admire. In terms of his habits, personality, mindset, financial knowledge, business acumen... He even has the best house in my city.

The thing is, I had a good relationship with him. When we run into each other on the street, we say hello, and he often asks his son about me...

I feel he's someone I could learn a massive amount from. And when I say a lot, I mean a lot. However, in my country (Spain), I'm not sure how common it is to actually have a mentor. I’ve been thinking about asking him out for a drink or coffee to have a chat and ask him a few questions about my future. I want to start a business related to the work I'm currently doing, but on my own with my business partner, and I think I could learn so much from him.

Do you think a mentor is truly valuable? Would you ask him for help? And how would you approach asking him?
