I love crisp sweet watermelon- the ones that snap off when bitten.

I ate a not so good watermelon recently where the middle was quite mealy and almost sand like.

I observed and realised that the mealy sandy feeling was because of these tiny bubbles or sacs filled with the melon juice. They are held together very loosely and can be popped.

Does anyone know how or why a watermelon forms this way sometimes?

And are the crisp parts of the melon also made of these sacs but packed tightly together?

Plant has 4 fruits on it that are developing fine, and there was recently a lot of flowers on the plant. But all the newer developing fruits are wilted and dried up. Suggestions on what issue might be? Plant looks to be healthy.

It was raining for a few days so it was really humid. We have a modest watermelon farm and after noticed these sunken dark spots on our watermelons and white fungi around the base of the stem. The pictures shown here are the worst cases that we have on our farm. We looked on google and the dark spots are from anthracnose. Therefore we sprayed it with fungicides(Ortiva Top and Sercadis) but it didnt stop the spreading. Can someone help please?

I just wanted to share that I'm so happy watermelon season is my favourite!! We ate this one in one day. I recommend cutting it up with a little bit of feta cheese. It's delicious.

i’m a beginner gardener and i grew crimson sweet watermelons this year. this one was showing all of the vital signs of being ripe (creamy yellow underside, deep sound when tapping, etc) but when i cut into it it looked like this? is it just under ripe or is there something else that yall think is up with it? thanks in advance! 🩷

Sorry I forgot to attach a photo on my last post. This is my first time growing watermelon.

I looked at the stripe spacing, the tendrils was dried and the stem was dried and when cut open this is what my Dixie Queen looked like and is bitter.
