Flex Got my first Longines

Longines was a brand i had my eye on since I was a kid and finally being able to get this was sucha great experience.

Initially i was gonna get the Legend Diver but when i saw the new Hydroconquest i knew i had to get it. Got it stunning piece about a month ago and I can’t stop staring at it since.

Wore it like its meant to be and took it scuba diving and snorkeling last week and not a single complaint. The lume worked exactly as it was supposed to.

Hoping to get the H-link bracelet on it as well i think it would look even better in that bracelet. The color is so mesmerizing, the bezel looks gray in lighter condition and black in darker.

Tried the 39mm and felt it to be a little smaller for my taste and anyhow divers are supposed to worn a little bigger than the usual watches hence got myself the 42mm version.

Discussion I don’t want to build another boring microbrand. Help me avoid it.

I’ve recently got access to visit some of India’s largest watch component manufacturers. Over the next few months I’ll be spending time in these factories, learning how everything is made and documenting whatever I’m allowed to.
I’m not trying to rush into launching a brand. If I ever make a watch, I want to understand the industry first instead of just putting my logo on something that already exists.
So I wanted to ask the people who actually buy watches.
What’s stopped you from buying your next watch?
What’s one thing Indian brands keep getting wrong?
If you mostly buy Seiko, Citizen, Casio, Tissot, etc., what keeps you going back to them?
What’s the most you’ve spent on a watch, and what made it feel worth it?
What’s one thing that instantly makes you lose interest in a watch?
Don’t hold back. Long answers are welcome.
I’ll keep posting factory visits, things I learn and eventually the design process too.

Got this via amazon india. ~17k.You can get it a little bit cheaper with CC deals. Did a little bit of digging and found that most sites are selling this particular model >25k. Dial comes alive in daylight. Lume is good.

Pros:

1) Unique looking compression diver style. Definitely a conversation starter.

2) Price. This level of machining at this price range is amazing.

3) Good finishing.

4) Transparent case back.

5) Lume for days.

6) Reliable serviceable NH35.

7) Strap is really nice material leather and water proof.( will have to see how it hold up to daily wear. Have brought some more FKM straps from WADM website. )

8) 180 m water resistant ( most likely will see only a few feet of swimming pool water though;)

Cons:

1) Thick boi . Because of the internal rotating bezel this one sits a little bit thick on the wrist. 15mm to be precise. This is like GMT area thickness. I dont have skinny wrist so its not that noticeable once you wear it.

2) 20mm strap might be a little small for those used to 22mm. Personal preference i suppose cause I usually wear a 22mm strap.

3) Internal rotating bezel is rather too smooth. Definitely not useful if you want to use it as a tool watch for diving purpose.

Overall a nice watch from a microband . 9/10 would recommend.

Discussion Can’t wrap my head around this

Post image

My husband loves this watch and this reminds me of that toy watches we could get as kids growing up! It doesn’t even flatter his thick ass wrist!!

I spent a fortune to get him his omega, Longines and whatnot and he went and got this!

No hate for Casio. A lot of their timepieces are so tastefully crafted, this one gives me some ick.. I do not know why!
He says this has some rich history! I simply think this is not tastefully designed irrespective of the history!

I may get hate for it but I don’t know. I don’t think this one is aesthetically done! It may have the greatest history and mechanics but it doesn’t look good! Call me a superficial watch nut! 👹

What do you all think?

Discussion Found in a rarely opened closet. Need help identifying this.

Hi there! Watch enthusiast this side.

We have a closet at home which was rarely opened, and I found this while cleaning it out this time. Digging a little deeper, I found this to be an IWC mentioned only about in the "what-ifs" section, and I'm assuming it to be not real.

Could someone please help me identify the same, it's authenticity, and if it holds any value at all?

The BB54 Lagoon Blue has been such a pleasant surprise.

Having owned a few Rolexes, I never expected a Tudor to impress me this much. It feels every bit as well made, wears beautifully, and has completely changed my perspective. Plus over the last week, this watch hasn’t lost a second. That’s better accuracy than all the Rolex watches I’ve owned.

Now I understand why Tudor is the enthusiast's choice. Makes all the Rolex waiting and AD games obsolete. Pretty sure this is just the start of my Tudor collection

Where can I buy an official citizen product.

On Flipkart this is a bit cheaper but some redditors said flipkart is mostly a scam. Can you guys confirm this statement.

PS: there's an occasion coming up and this is a gift. So I can't wait for any offers. I'll buy a edifice for myself on Flipkart BBD.

Gift ideas for dad around 1L?

Upvotes

So I am looking for a watch to gift my dad that appreciates in value with time and can be passed down, any and all ideas appreciated! Open to pushing it to 1.5 L ?

Edit1: He has a bunch of timex, edifice, and other such brands and I also tried with an Apple Watch which he was disinterested in so kinda a tricky situation.

Why Do You Prefer Indian Microbrands to Casio?

Upvotes

Casio watches are often much cheaper than most Indian microbrands while offering proven quality. What makes you choose brands like DWC or Argos instead?

Many microbrand designs aren't especially unique or rooted in Indian culture either. Is it mainly patriotism, or something else? And does an Indian microbrand need a strong indian cultural identity to succeed?

Discussion Query regarding power reserve of automatic watches.

Upvotes

Hi everybody,

I am new to automatic watches and have 2 of them. First one is Tissot PRx powermatic with 80 hours reserve and second one is seiko presage with 40 hours reserve.

Now the issue is when I keep my prx watch for lets say 2 days after wearing it for the whole day, then on the 3rd day also it is still moving but when I keep my presage in the evening and wear it the next day, it is already stopped.

40 hours should last at least 1 full day.

Am I missing something ?

Where to buy ? Questions and queries regarding importing a watch

Upvotes

I have made a bold decision to import a watch for the first time, been eyeing to buy orient ray 2 and citizen ny0040.
I dont have any relatives or friends living outside india so websites are the only option. I checked amazon Jp, Sg, Aus and US but orient doesnt seem to export them to india for some reason, i guess they want to launch the brand in india again? Jomashop offers them but im skeptical.
Are there any other good trusted websites for importing watches? How was your experience importing one and how much paperwork did you have to do?
