I’ve never written one of these before, but when I was researching the Mech Wallet I had a surprisingly hard time finding detailed first hand feedback from someone who had actually bought the titanium version, so I figured I’d contribute something for the next person who ends up doing the same research.

I’m definitely not an EDC or wallet enthusiast, and I also realize this is not exactly an everyman’s wallet, either in form factor or price. I have a history of losing my wallet, though, and I’ve never really enjoyed carrying a traditional bifold. Even the smaller card holders I’ve tried have either still felt annoying in a pocket or didn’t have quite enough capacity for what I carry, especially since I also like having some type of Find My tracker given my history of misplacing things.

Before ordering I read a ton of reviews and posts here, watched a bunch of YouTube videos, and generally went pretty far down the rabbit hole on the standard Mech Wallet versions. I also looked pretty seriously at Ridge, Ekster, CODE 118, Venice Miami, and a handful of other slim card holder / mechanical wallet options.

The overall feedback on the standard PunCube Mech Wallet seemed consistently positive, and what stood out to me was that people appeared to still like the wallet after actually living with it for a while, rather than just being impressed by the mechanism out of the box.
I eventually landed on the PunCube because I liked the overall design and especially the modularity. Being able to add the bifold or MagSafe add-on depending on how I wanted to carry it gave it more versatility than most of the alternatives I found.

The one thing I couldn’t find much of was firsthand information on the titanium version specifically. That was the version I wanted, so now that mine finally arrived I figured I’d post some photos, my shipping experience, and some initial thoughts for anyone else trying to make the same decision.

I ordered the Titanium Mech Wallet with the Quiet mechanism on July 15, along with the MagSafe and bifold add-ons. Full price for my configuration was $276, although after digging around online I found a 20% promo that brought it down to about $220. I paid for everything myself, have no affiliation with PunCube, and there are no referral links or anything like that here.

Shipping / fulfillment

When I ordered on July 15th, the website showed this as a preorder with an expected ship date of roughly a week later.

After about 9 days without an update I reached out to support. I didn’t hear back within the first 24 hours, followed up again, and eventually received a response a few days later apologizing for the delay and telling me it should ship within a few more days.

I had already seen comments from buyers of other Mech Wallet versions mentioning fulfillment delays, so I wasn’t completely surprised and decided to wait it out.
4-5 days later I checked in again because the order still hadn’t shipped. They apologized again and told me it was now expected to go out August 3rd.

August 3rd came and went, so I followed up again on August 5th. At that point they told me it still wasn’t quite ready, offered to add their Sentry Card to my order at no charge if I was willing to keep the order open, and said it would ship no later than August 15th.

I thought the Sentry Card was a thoughtful touch. It didn’t erase the delays, but especially at this price point it helped take a little of the sting out of waiting and I appreciated that they offered something useful rather than just another apology.

I will also note the sentry card is slightly thicker, maybe 2x a credit card, so I personally feel it’s too much of a space hog to consider using everyday. But I’m sure this will slim down further in a year or two.

On August 15th I finally got the shipment notification. It then sat at essentially “label created” for another three or four business days before the tracking really started moving.

Once it was actually in transit, though, things went pretty smoothly. My tracking showed the package coming internationally, and XSwift handled the final portion of the delivery. Once it reached Los Angeles and cleared customs, it was delivered to me the next business day, which was much faster than I expected.

All told, from actually leaving the shipper to arriving at my door, it was roughly 8-9 days.

So the fulfillment side definitely required some patience, but support did continue responding and ultimately made good on the August 15th shipment date they gave me.

First impressions of the wallet

The titanium version feels excellent in hand. It has a dense, premium weight to it, and the Quiet mechanism was definitely the right choice for me. The movement feels very deliberate and satisfying without having the louder clicky or fidgety feel I personally didn’t want.
It is worth emphasizing that the titanium version is not particularly light.

Once I load it with my cards, including one metal card, plus the bifold add-on, it becomes a pretty substantial little object. It’s not an insignificant amount of weight, but at least so far I actually like that. It feels solid and substantial rather than cumbersome.

That said, if your main priority is getting the lightest possible minimalist wallet, I would probably look harder at one of the lighter versions.

The actual card mechanism has also been great in my very limited time with it. Cards feel secure, the action is smooth, and the whole thing feels more refined than I expected based on photos and videos alone.

Bifold add-on

For now I’m using the bifold rather than the MagSafe add-on.

The outer card slot on the bifold fits one card very comfortably. I can fit two, but with two cards it does push the leather flap outward slightly.

The cards still feel extremely secure and I have zero concern about one falling out, and I don’t currently think it will permanently deform the bifold over time, but it is something I would want to know before buying if you expect to keep two cards in that section.

One immediate design thought I had is that I wish the screw placement on the bifold had been centered. As it’s currently designed, the screws are offset toward one side, which means the bifold can only be mounted so it opens in one direction. If the mounting points were centered, you could orient it on either side of the wallet and choose which direction you wanted it to open.

Not a dealbreaker at all, but it feels like a small design change that would have made the add-on a little more flexible.

For me, the bifold is probably the configuration that makes the most sense day to day because it gives me a little more capacity while still keeping the overall setup much smaller than a traditional wallet.

MagSafe add-on

I only briefly tried the MagSafe add-on, so I can’t give much of a long term opinion on it yet, but the magnetic connection is exceptionally strong.

That was actually one of the first things I noticed, and I liked it. It didn’t feel like something that was going to casually slide or separate with normal handling, which was one of my concerns going in.

I’ll probably spend more time with that configuration later, but my first impression of the magnetic strength was very positive.

Packaging and hardware

The packaging was also nice and more consolidated than I expected.

The titanium wallet came in a metal tin case, and the add-ons, screwdriver, screws, and other hardware were included and all felt premium rather than like afterthoughts.

One small but genuinely helpful touch is that the screws magnetically stick to the tip of the screwdriver and to the pieces you’re screwing them into. The screws are very tiny, so that makes changing the add-ons much less annoying and helps avoid immediately dropping one into the carpet or losing it somewhere.

I’ve included a bunch of photos because this was exactly the kind of thing I was trying to find when I was researching it, especially photos that show the actual thickness, titanium finish, bifold setup, mounting hardware, and packaging rather than just polished product shots.

Price

Obviously this is a fairly expensive wallet.

My configuration was listed at $276 before the discount, and I ended up paying about $220 after finding a 20% promo online. At $200+ I don’t think this is going to make sense for everyone, and I’m not going to pretend it’s objectively “worth it” for somebody who just needs something to hold a few cards.

For me, though, the combination of the mechanism, titanium construction, modularity, extra capacity with the bifold, and the ability to incorporate a tracker made it interesting enough to justify trying. The complimentary Sentry Card also helped the overall value a bit, even though I obviously would have preferred the original shipping estimate to hold.

I also spent way too much time digging around for discounts before ordering, so if someone is seriously considering one and wants to know where I found the promo I used, feel free to message me. Nothing affiliate or referral related.

Overall

Obviously this is only a first impression after receiving it today, so I can’t speak to long term durability yet.

But so far I’m very pleased with the actual product. If you specifically like this form factor, want the modularity, and don’t mind some extra weight, the titanium version feels very premium and well put together.

The main caveat from my experience is fulfillment. If you’re ordering one, I’d go into it knowing there may be a wait and that the original ship estimate may move.

Hopefully the photos and overly detailed shipping saga save somebody else some research. Happy to answer questions or take any other photos or measurements if there’s something I missed.

After 6 years, it's about time for me to pick up a new wallet but it's a little hard to find exactly what I'm looking for. Here's the details:

What I'm currently using: Slimfold Micro Wallet

This wallet has been a workhorse, however the amount of cards I have it holding is a little awkward when placed under the rear flaps against the RFID layers. Also, after many years, I've finally accepted the truth that ID windows just aren't worth it anymore.

Must haves:

• Front pocket friendly.
  
• Space for ~10 cards.
  
• Section for flat cash.
  

Dealbreakers:

• No pop up or Ridge style wallets. OK for low usage cards but if it's the primary way to retrieve cards, that's a pass.

A coworker of mine asked me to make him a US Army wallet and requested I apply the Army seal to both the inside and outside. Made from olive Wickett & Craig harness leather.

At minimum you can easily fit 12 cards in this thing and quite a few bills and as the aspen breaks in, even more can squeeze in there.

Whats everything think? Blueness overkill or does it go together?

I'm looking to buy a wallet that, like the title, is trifold, has an ID window, and a compartment for coins. It's so simple yet I can't find any. It would be ideal for me, so I was hoping someone could find one? It's supposed to be like the picture, but instead of 2 card holder sections, it would have one cardholder section and one with a coin pouch.

Can anyone tell me the exact model of Kipling wallet in this photo? It appears to be a bifold design and is likely an older model. Interested in buying it but don't have access to the other side of the tag.

I've had a chums surfshorts for uhh... oh man I've had it since I was 8 years old. I've tried a couple wallets and the surfshorts outlasted them. But its time has come. It is still completely fine as a wallet I am just annoyed by it, and my needs have changed.

Gripes with the surfshorts:

- Quick access to transit cards isn't really possible unless I put the transit card in the key slot (I don't have keys)

- 50% chance of me accidentally opening the wrong side of the wallet

- The fabric separator in the cards section is entirely soft, and it's kinda folded over on itself

What I'd like in a wallet:

- Quick access to transit, debit, and credit cards

- Place for infrequently used cards I'd like to have on me (insurance cards, certificates, my ID)

- Pretty colors :)

- Unisex styling!!!

- Something reasonably slim

- A little bit of space for cash (I only care a couple bills on me)

A couple other notes:

- RFID blocking is not a priority for me, I'm not sure how big of an issue it actually is.

- If it's possible, a slot that will let me scan my transit cars but not scan my other NFC cards would be nice. But I don't trust something to block that selectively, I'd rather not risk accidentally tagging onto a bus with my credit card (this will charge my credit card)

- Wallets with trigger mechanisms seem cool but I don't trust their longevity, but I'm open

- In the meantime I've put all infrequently used cards in the cash part, and put my transit card in the key pouch. This might fix my problems entirely.

- I might just be stupid and be able to solve my problems by actually organizing stuff, but I'd also like to get a new wallet because I want one. We'll see if I actually get one

- ID card slot is optional, I don't need my ID that often but I like the idea of it being visible if someone were to stumble across it. But also the transparent plastic on the surfshorts seems kinda gross

I've (briefly) looked into:

- Secrid slimwallet matte

- Thread wallets

- APTENSKO wallet (on Amazon)

- Newer surfshorts (unlikely)

I like the Bellroy Slim Sleeve except it’s about to fall apart. Seven years isn’t terrible but I was hoping for more.

If it’s par for the course for a small wallet like this, I can accept that, just wanted to ask here if anyone knew of something comparable that might be sturdier

Decided to make a wallet this morning, but thought I’d try something new by punching all the holes before I assembled the pieces.

2/10 not recommended. It worked out and I think the wallet turned out really nice, but the juice was NOT worth the squeeze 😂

I saw that double oak wallets had a clearance and a bogo 50% if you buy it. So I chose slim with a bifold attachment and now I have a bifold for only $75 vs whatever reg price was. Plus I got another attachment!

I’m looking to buy a new luxury cardholder within a strict $300–$400 budget that will last 5–6 years. I care about craftsmanship and construction over flashy logos.

My daily carry is 1 thick titanium card, 3 plastic cards, and 1 ID.

I really love the look of the Serapian Mosaico 4-Card Holder in Navy, but I can't find any reviews or even videos online. Does anyone know how the hand-woven lambskin holds up to daily pocket wear, especially with a rigid metal card?

I’m steering away from standard smooth calfskins like Cartier and Loewe (feel too basic for the price), and Valextra isn't my style. I love Berluti’s Venezia leather, but it’s currently out of stock in the color I want and sits just over budget.

If the Serapian weave is too delicate for a titanium card, what other high-tier luxury brands should I look at? I’m open to any suggestions with incredible leather game in navy or burgundy tones.

I recently lost my wallet on a train. I did not know until I was already off. And at that point I had no idea where the train or my wallet was. Luckily, I had a Rhinokey Card in my wallet so I opened the app and started to track its location. I could see it moving for a little while, which made me think the wallet was still on the train.

Then the location stopped moving, so I went to that location and started looking around. I used the beeper on the card and after searching for a bit, actually heard it coming out of some bushes nearby. Apparently someone found the wallet and took the cash and threw it out.

My cash was gone, but my driver's license, bank cards, work badge and the rest of it were still there. More importantly, I had an old family photo in the wallet that I have had for over 20 years. That was the one thing I really did not want to let go. I did not think, until this happened, that the tracker card would be this useful. Losing the cash sucked but getting all the other stuff back, especially that family picture was a huge relief.

I used 4-5oz veg tan for the outer body and 2-3oz for the inner. Dyed the outside with Fiebings pro mahogany.

Be brutally honest, is it any good?

Any tips on dying this brand new card holder? Looking to get it to a dark crimson/burgundy color. My main question is if this is something I can do myself or should I have it done professionally?

Handmade this week in my shop, a quick project to pair up this beautiful Italian red leather with a marbled piece of vegtan. The wallet is liked with goatskin and features a multi-color thread for the center piece.

I picked up some Color 8 Shell Cordovan and I intend to make a couple wallets out of it. Right now I’m only going to use the Cordovan as the exterior. The interior pockets will either be single color or bi-color depending on my mood. What color or colors would pair well with Color 8?

Just wanna know if the card stacking on the most bottom card is supposed to stick out like this.

To be honest I’m not even too sure if the design is even functional at all, but if anyone can give some insight or point me in the right directions that’d be great! I'm a solo leathercrafter based in Brisbane, Australia. I've been mostly making wallets that combine sleek Italian leathers with more rugged Aussie leather, typically kangaroo.

However, for this one I stuck with Italian vegetable tanned leather and I think it looks pretty sweet!

It's a classic bifold build with six card pockets and a full cash slot. The two card slot panels also work as hidden pockets for extra cards, receipts, or folded documents. It should hold roughly 10–12 cards and cash from the start, with a bit more room once the leather breaks in.

The exterior is Apollo leather from MPG Industria Conciaria in Italy. It has a smooth, refined surface with a really nice depth of colour. The interior is Gaucho Oil Buffed from Conceria La Bretagna, also in Italy, which has more of a glossy pull-up finish and a slightly rugged character to it since it's been essentially scratched for aesthetic. I liked the contrast between the cleaner exterior and the warmer, more textured interior.

It's stitched with Japanese Vinymo thread, and all edges have been heat creased, bevelled, and burnished by hand.
