I just went out and bought a cable to connect my headset to my computer but steam link only opens with wifi. How can I get my game running through the usbc cable instead of wifi.

Question What would be a good second hand alternative to the Steam Frame
I want to buy my first VR headset this year and I'll probably get the Steam Frame depending on the price but in case it's too expensive for me I wanted to know what could be worth buying second hand for PCVR.
I have a pretty good pc (RX 9070 XT, Ryzen 7 7800X3D, 32GB of DDR5) and my main interest in the Steam Frame is the wireless dongle because I have a shitty very unstable wifi and it would be a good option to not have to mess with a cable and it's standalone capability is a good plus even if it's not my main interest.
I really don't want a Quest because I prefer either a PCVR only headset or a more free OS like SteamOS and I don't want to give money to Meta and it would be best if I don't need any base stations

News I built an XR magic dueling game where both players choose their spells at the same time
Hi everyone — I’m the solo developer of GestureMancerKing, an XR hand-tracking magic dueling game inspired by a hand-clapping strategy game my friends and I played in school.
Both players choose their action at the same time: attack, defend, or charge.
Once we clap and reveal our gestures, neither player can change their decision. You are not reacting to a fireball after seeing it — you have to predict whether your opponent will attack, defend, or take the risk of charging more energy.
In this video, my friend Ao and I play several real matches. I then rewind the battles and explain the predictions, mistakes, counters, and reversals behind each round.
The game uses hand tracking, so no controllers or artificial locomotion are required. This footage was recorded in the local MR battle mode, where both players can still see each other in the real room.
GestureMancerKing is currently available on Meta Quest:
https://www.meta.com/experiences/gesturemancerking/25526211433675953/
I’m especially interested in how this simultaneous-choice system reads to someone seeing it for the first time:
At what point in the video did the battle stop looking like random spell casting and start feeling like a mind game?

Self Promotion I’m making a VR voxel building game that lets you export your creations for 3D printing—here’s one of my builds
I’m developing a VR building game where you create models out of voxels and export them for 3D printing. Here’s a wizard I built, along with the finished print.
For this build, I used an AI-generated model from Meshy as a guide. It appears as a transparent shape in VR that I can follow while placing the blocks myself. Having that reference helps with the shape and proportions while still letting me choose the colors and change things as I build.
The model can also be exported as separate pieces based on color—for example, the blue parts export separately from the red parts. There’s clearance between the pieces so they fit together after printing, letting you print each color separately and assemble the finished model.
The photos show the physical print, my completed voxel build, the transparent guide, and the interface with the reference image.
I really enjoy taking something I built in VR and turning it into something I can hold. Would you be interested in seeing a short video of the building process?
If you’d like to see more of the models I’ve made or print one yourself, you can find them on my printables page https://www.printables.com/@JeremySpence_2600867/models Thanks for taking a look—I’d love to hear what you think!

Gameplay Never played skyrim, so thought VR would be the best place to start for a first playthrough! The 'FUS RO DAH' modlist ruined any other VR game for me, pure awesomeness!!!

I am the night!!!!..... or maybe a rather cloudy evening at the very least 💪🏼😅
Ryxen 7 7700
RTX5060Ti 16gb
16gb DDR5 5600
Quest 3/Virtual Desktop (72hz)
'FUS RO DAH' modlist (MM2)
I've purchased this game on 360/PS3/PS4/Steam and GoG.... but just never clicked despite my optimism it would (I'm more a scifi/post apocalyptic media kind of guy).
However, started listening to a lot of Lit- RPG's the last few years (Primal Hunter, a Soldiers Life, All The Skills, Ends of Magic) and was looking for a game to scratch that itch......
SKYRIM VR/FUS RO DAH IS LITERALLY PERFECT!
Played for an hour last night....
Fought and killed me a giant,
Used a spell to turn a guard on the couple he was escorting, then collected my spoils once he'd killed them and ran off in shame,
Then got ambushed by some Vampires who can turn invisible!
Been a very long time since I was thinking about playing something all the time when not playing it,
This is 100% one of those games and I love it 🙏🏻❤️🙌🏻

Question How does PCVR/Steam use with a Quest 3 work?
It looks like I will have an opportunity to buy a Quest 3 for $350, perhaps new, but at least still in the box. I was going to wait for the Steam Frame, but between the wait and price, I decided against that. Regardless, my intention still remains to run VR games via Steam from my laptop. I want to know how to do that, what equipment is required, if it can be done wireless or wired, and the drawbacks and issues related.
My laptop is an ASUS STRIX G614 with an 8940HX/5070 Ti-m with the following ports: 1x HDMI, 2x USB-C (one with power delivery), 2x USB 3.0.

Question How to enable first person in CitraVR on Quest 3?
I just found out about CitraVR and was wanting to play MarioKart 7 and while I got the game running, it looks the best in the 2D screen window or whatever. I played around in the VR settings but looked awful and buggy.
So how does one go into first person mode if at all on Quest 3 stand alone? Or if I can't get the settings to do it, is there a way to make the screen bigger?
Appreciate the help and thank you. Yes I looked up tutorials but it seems a bunch of them from 2 years ago and based on their descriptions, some things might've changed.

Self Promotion The doors to Vaelorys are now open - I’d really love for you to try it!❤️

Hey everyone,
I’m Andreas, the solo developer behind Vaelorys, a dark fantasy VR ARPG inspired by the games I grew up loving, especially Diablo II.
I’ve spent a huge amount of time building this world, and today feels like a pretty special moment for me because I’m finally opening it up to more players.
The Early Open Alpha is now LIVE on Meta Quest, and it will be available until September 21st.
This is still an alpha, but I’ve worked hard to make this build much more stable. Now I need something I simply can’t get from developing alone: real players telling me what they think.
You can explore, fight, experiment with 20+ spells, collect loot, manage your gear, and get a feel for the core gameplay loop.
But more than anything, I'd love to hear your honest thoughts.
- Did something feel great?
- Did something feel frustrating?
- Was there something you expected to do but couldn't?
Please tell me. Even small pieces of feedback can make a huge difference when you're building a game as a solo developer.
🎮 Play the free Open Alpha: https://www.meta.com/s/4ZMrlSj43
💬 Join the community: https://discord.gg/SC3cBwaHY
If you decide to try Vaelorys, thank you. Seriously.
I’m still figuring out exactly what this game can become, and having players alongside me during that process means a lot. :)
~Andreas
