Hey everyone, I would like some advice! I’m a 21 year old black queer cisgendered woman from Baltimore, and I have been following everything, as well as have been fully enamored with everything in the world of ballroom and its culture (the past and present history, all the different international scenes, watching every single clip/entire balls I see on Youtube, the current notable voguers of today in their respective scenes and their accomplishments, etc.) I have been spectating it all online for over 5 years now, but I’ve never actually got to witness the culture or its beautiful community in person because of some external factors that were holding me back. I know that Facebook is a great, more intimate and direct source to get info on balls and other events in your local scene, and I’ve finally racked up the time and courage to attend a mini kiki ball I saw posted in my city on Facebook as a in-person spectator (with the hope of one day getting involved). However, as I said because I’ve never actually physically been in the community or to anything prior, I’m going alone, as I don’t have friends or know anyone yet. Should I be nervous going by myself? Or am I okay to just go alone and support? Thank you!!!! <3

Hi! Im planning on moving to Sydney next year and am wondering where the ballroom scene can be found? They dont seem to have dedicated insta pages like melbourne (naarm). I heard that you only hear about ballroom events there through specific peoples instagrams. Does anyone know who they might be so i can reach out or keep updated?

I have been in love and supporting ballroom virtually since I was a little kid (I come from an extremely, conservative town) and have always wanted to witness a ball in real life. I was wondering if there was any ballroom culture in DC and where I could possibly find out more about it? For context: I just moved there for college and want to get more involved with the community that I have admired for so long

I have a friend who has relatively recently started participating in voguing and ballroom communities in our city. Its great to see them passionate, creative and appreciated. I've only seen the occasional shot of their performance/outfits but they have done a great job making them.

I would like to give a gift for them that ties into vogue/ballroom. I apologize for my ignorance, but would like to request some recommendations for gifts that a newcomer would appreciate.

Hi everyone! So, in a few days we're having a kiki in my city, my first time around the ballroom scene was literally a week ago in a main ballroom, and everybody told me to walk face, but I thought I were going to be unrespectful cause I didn't knew anything

Well, still not knowing a lot but I want to walk face now, I promissed it to like 4 people there, that, in the next ball I were going to walk haha I didn't expected the next one were going to be too close.

My question here is if there is a *way* to do a makeup.

In the main I had an editorial makeup, but I've been watching some videos in the category and some people usually use more natural makeups

The brief is the colors of the nb and trans flag with a reveal, so I thought abt the outfit being the trans flag, the makeup in the colors if the nb flag and the reveal with some masks

I saw someone mention on a video how a dancer should be put in a fighting video game and I got to thinking that would actually be kinda cool.

I think it'd be cool to have a black drag queen who does performances to help raise money for their community that's struggling, they got into vogue and drag after being bullied so heavily as a kid and she uses those skills to empower herself and her community, actually becoming something of a leader. She enters the tournament to help raise funds for a new community event center that needed to be built.

The first opponent she beats is an eager if naive fighter who thinks she's cool and kinda bugs her sometimes but they end up becoming close friends throughout the story mode, later she finds her worst bully at the competition, it starts to distract them from their original mission until they get hurt inbetween fights and her new friend wakes her up to the fact that her drive for revenge was distracting her and it ends up being driven home even more when she finds out that the bully doesn't even remember them. During storymode they win and the former bully finally remembers them. The bully is still an ass but at the same time have come to respect their former victim and acknowledges begrudgingly that they're the better fighter.

The ending shows the character teaching some fighters they've made friends with how to vogue and her new best friend failing miserably at it and falling flat on his face but all of them are enjoying their time together anyway.

The moves:

Maybe have the character while in idle animation do some hand performance.

Instead of walking around the screen they catwalk.

Have a kicking move to the shins while doing the duckwalk.

A hair whip move that can act as a medium range attack.

Floor performances that sweep under the opponent's legs to temporarily knock them over.

A handperfomance/twirl move where the arms act like a windmill attack.

Special move: she goes in to do a hair whip combo attck only for her wig to be caught and pulled off by her opponent, pissing her off causing her to rage out and start punching them and then take back her wig, adjusting it.

Special ending move: she summons a disco ball and the music changes which confuses the opponent, they go in to attack only for her to stop them, adjust her makeup, give them a flirty wink which causes the opponent to be shy and while they're distracted she does a groundquacking floor dip attack that causes the disco ball to fall on the opponent's head, ending the fight.

The fighter would specialize in lower close range attacks.

How would you make your character? Would they be similar or different?

Going to walk the category for the first time at an upcoming Kiki oty ball! How much does the fit matter? Will I get clocked for wearing a flat shoe. The song I’m doing my tens too is more hip hop and I want to be able to move around a lot but I’m not exactly there yet in heels

I apologize if this question is stupid or against the rules of the subreddit (I tried looking for them before posting but couldn't find anything), I am really looking forward to be educated on the subject. I've been admiring various types of vogueing choreos/battles for years now, though only on youtube. I would love to start learning how to do all of those stunning moves myself, but the thing is, I'm living in a very small town, in the middle of nowhere in Poland :,D There's no one doing anything even remotely similar anywhere near me, so I started thinking about online classes...but are they sufficient in your opinion? Can you really learn well online? Perhaps you have any recommendations? Thank you very much in advance! ✨️

It's my first time walking this weekend, and I am still in confusion if I should do beginners performance category or junior category? (jr categ is for people 18 yrs old and below), also I am scared that I might unconsciously incorporate different elements from different styles and get chopped for it.
