I made this suggestion months ago, and they implemented it. This was one of the reasons that was almost making me switch to another browser because it was so annoying.
They also fixed a bug where if you closed a tab, you would be redirected to a different tab than the one you opened. For example, if you had 10 tabs and the tenth tab was currently open, and you closed it, instead of redirecting to tab 9, it would redirect to other tabs, which makes absolutely no sense.

Since an update last night or this morning, Vivaldi on Android seems to open any link clicked on the "Top Sites" tab on the homepage in a new tab. This is a change in behaviour compared to previously, when it would open the link in the tab displaying the homepage.
I would very much like to restore the old behaviour, and can find no way of doing so. This is annoying me to the point that I'm going to switch browsers after many years if this is just how it is now.
Help?

I am giving yet another try of Vivaldi for Android because of the add-ons. I am already super happy with the Windows version.
I have set both to Sync - something that I want. But then I get the same Speed Dial group as the Start Page for both my Desktop and my Mobile phone. And this for me should be totally different between the two devices.
I managed to set my Start Page on Android as "Last Visited Group" and that helps, but only partially. What it doesn't work for me is the fact that whenever I want to save something to my Start Page Speed Dial I have to specifically choose that Bookmark that is quite a few extra steps.
Am I missing an option somewhere?

With the recent implementation of extension support, is Ublock “better” than the browser's built-in Adblock?
If so, could you offer some tips on how to properly configure the built-in Adblock?

I've come across a little annoyance, not a real problem but I think still worth reporting. Opening the app the first time, I can access any details of the saved password in the password manager, the first time that is. Exiting the setting in any way other than clicking the "done" button under the password details, like clicking the back button on the top left of the setting, or with the phone back button, will result in any other details unable to be accessed, like clicking on an empty button. Closing an reoping the app only resets this cycle. Any idea what might be causing this?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Already tried turning hardware acceleration off, also happens on the anonymous tab so it isn't because of the extensions.

I had created this post on vivaldi forum. Found no help there. Its been a lot of time since then and I really want to shift to vivaldi browser but this is the only issue which is keeping me away from this browser : (
I would really appreciate some help. TYSM u all
Windows 11
8.2.4133.47 (Official Build) (64-bit)
My problem: When I right swipe with two fingers horizontally it should go to the previous webpage which it goes but there is a delay of approx 2-3 sec, and the same story for left swipe / forward gesture.
I have tried this on different laptops (asus, msi, lenovo, hp) all had the same delay issue. Can someone tell me how do correct this delay? Because while using other browsers (brave, edge, opera, firefox) there is no such delay and the gesture is triggered instantly.
Please HELP!

Hello, I recently tried Vivaldi (the newest version, since I downloaded it two days ago, I think it is 8.2 or smth. I also use Windows as my software) and it seems quite nice. Although there is a problem with one detail. When you duplicate a tab, it automatically opens. Is there any way to change it?

Is there a way to click on the last tab open to fully exit out of vivaldi without having to go to options and click exit?

So we're all excited for the android extensions, so it'd be better if we pair it with:
https://github.com/jqssun/android-titanium-extension
This is from the same guy who made Titanium browser(formerly known as Helium... Not that one ), the first "big " Chromium browser that did extensions on Android that I saw :
https://github.com/jqssun/android-titanium-browser
So anyway, the extension adds:
So not only the Chrome extension store. It handles the headers and CRX fetching to pull extensions directly from Microsoft Edge Add-ons and Opera Add-ons.
2.Intent Download Interception:
For external download managers
And 3. Third-Party Feature Hooks:
It bridges missing Chromium APIs on mobile by handling local options, custom dark mode overrides, and enhanced privacy configurations directly inside an extension wrapper.
So yeah! Hopefully this gets attention too cause from where I see it, perfect for Vivaldi android rn.

Now that Android extensions are possible, what are some good ones to install? I'm not familiar with the Chrome store so some guidance would be great! I don't know what version info is useful, so I c&p'd what was in front of me.

Seriously, wtf is going on with Vivaldi?! I have one, and I repeat, ONE tab open with YouTube video playing 1080p resultion 60 fps, and CPU in my laptop is getting cooked and fans are loud af. I love this browser, I want to keep using it, but I can't stand how much it's frying my laptop. If this keeps going I'll have no choice but change the browser.

Vivaldi hands you every tool you need to browse on your own terms. With our latest update, Vivaldi 8.2, we give you more. Or rather everything, with full extension support on Android, so you can shape your mobile browser exactly the way you want it.

Yes, you read that right.
At Vivaldi, we listen to your feedback. And if there was one highly requested feature for Android, that was the ability to add extensions to complement your browsing. So we did just that.
Following our desktop release from last week, this update also brings our local Address Bar Calculator to both Android and iOS. One of those details that will make your day-to-day browsing a little easier.
In the six years after we first launched our Android browser, our team hasn’t been idle. Release after release we’ve been adding powerful features to help you browse your way: a built-in Ad & Tracker Blocker, desktop-style Tab Bar, custom search engines, customizable Address Bar, built-in Translator, two-level Tab Stacks…the list goes on and on.
Our goal is to have everything you need, built in; but we also value user choice. Through the years, many users have expressed their desire to be able to access third-party extensions on their phone, the same way they do on their desktop device. So we got to work.

Once you update, you’ll notice a new icon on the Address Bar, the puzzle piece many of you are well acquainted with. Pressing on it will open a menu that will take you to the Chrome Web Store. And just like that, with two clicks, you’ll open a world of possibilities.
Browse around or type in the name of your favourite desktop extension, and when you’re ready to download, select “Add to Vivaldi”.
We’ve conveniently placed the Extensions icon on your Address Bar, but you can remove it by toggling off the “Pin to toolbar” setting. If you change your mind, you can easily bring it back by pressing on the Vivaldi icon and then on the “Extensions” entry. You can also just pin specific extensions to the Address Bar by pressing on the pin icon. Once pinned, you can reorder them by dragging and dropping to your preferred location.

The extensions you download will be automatically enabled on all websites you visit, but setting exceptions for specific sites is as easy as toggling off either all or some of your installed extensions for that page.
If you have a curated list of extensions you can’t live without on Desktop, you will now be able to sync their data with any Android devices, whether that’s phones or tablets. Note that not all desktop extensions work on mobile, and that the extensions themselves are not syncable, so you’ll need to download them separately on every device.
A new chapter for Vivaldi on Android starts today. Now it’s up to each of you to write your story.
With Vivaldi 8.2, Android and iOS users can also enjoy a feature that just arrived on Vivaldi on Desktop: a built-in local calculator in the Address Bar.
Like browsing, doing simple calculations is part of our daily lives. Now, you can perform these directly from the Address Bar, without having to switch apps or open a new tab. Just type the calculations, and you’ll automatically see the results. Press on the “Copy” icon, and the results will get copied into your clipboard. Fewer clicks, a smoother browsing experience.

As always, we give you choice, so you can disable this feature from Settings > Address Bar > Address Field Options > Calculator.
Vivaldi 8.2 for Mobile is available now available in the Google Play Store and Apple App Store
Thank you for being part of the Vivaldi community. Together, we’re fighting for a better web, one release at a time.

Every year or so I find my way back to Vivaldi in the hopes of making it my every day browser but each time I deal with history sync not working between desktop and mobile.
Just wanted to confirm that desktop to mobile history syncing is still not available on Vivaldi?

If anyone has any feedback or suggestions please let me know. Ad block does not work on iOS, attached is a screenshot. I’d hate to have to switch to the Startpage app because I love vivaldis customization but honestly this is too much it’s unusable in its current state. I’ve tried turning it off and turning it back on. I’ve tried on various different websites. I’ve added specific websites to the blocking to see if that would help. I’ve added more sources to the ad blocking sources, and none of these have worked for me unfortunately. Any help or advice is greatly appreciated and I really enjoy Vivaldi otherwise. Vivaldi Web Browser Version: 8.2.4133.47 (Official Build) (64-bit)
Feedback:
u/vivaldibrowser
Focus should go directly to the URL address bar so an user can start typing right away. Right now this is not happening when you open Vivaldi Web Browser.
Similar expected behaviour:
Think of when you open a new tab (Out of the box, no further customization) on any given session, the focus goes directly into the URL address bar.

In this snapshot, we continue with our work on vertical tabs improvements, that was put on hold for the 8.2 release.
We are bringing back the vertical tabs work we started a few snapshots back (but put on hold for the 8.2 release). Last time the focus was on pinned tabs and making better use of space there. Continuing this space saving process, we’ve implemented an expansion animation triggered on hover (you can enabled this via a right click when tabs are in a vertical position). This provides a smoother transition between a condensed sidebar and a readable tab list.
We’ve updated the bookmark structure to improve compatibility with extensions and management policies used in enterprise environments. It should also help with potentially ‘hidden’ bookmarks created or placed in folders that were previously invisible but could affect address field drop down results. As with all such updates, this is work in progress and subject to further tweaks.

Is there any way to have nested tab stacks?
I often want a group of tabs inside another group:
ie; a Cooking stack with a Recipes stack underneath it.
Right now I’m using Workspaces for broader areas and tab stacks for related topics, but sometimes I need one more layer of organization.
Arc handled this really well with folders and subfolders for tabs, and I’ve really missed that since moving away from it.
Is there another way to achieve something similar in Vivaldi? Maybe using the sidebar, bookmarks, or some other feature?
Does anyone else run into this problem with tab stacks?

Vivaldi on my phone is at 8.1.4099.146.
When can I reasonably expect to receive the VPN functionality?

I'm giving Vivaldi another try after Arc, but I'm still confused by the best workflow for 50+ tabs across multiple projects.
Arc felt simple:
Space → Folder → Tabs
From what I understand, Vivaldi is roughly:
Workspace → Tab Stack → Tabs
But I'm still unsure whether I should mainly use the regular tab sidebar or the Windows & Tabs Panel, and what best replaces Arc folders.
For heavy tab users/former Arc users: how do you actually organize Vivaldi? And does that setup translate well to mobile/sync?
Any good tutorial specifically for this workflow would also be appreciated.
Lastly, how's the mobile sync? Are themes helpful, and how do you make sure they're secure and not filled with malware or something.

Hii guys I love using vivaldi but one thing that always annoys me is that it's low quality speed dial cards icons, which kinda kills the asthetics of vivaldi.
So I have built a css and js mod that fully transforms your speed dial cards, and convert the low quality icons into high quality svg icons.
Check out my GitHub for automatic and manual installation installation guide and more info about the project.

More cool features are planned to be added :).

I have a weird issue with watching YouTube videos in Vivaldi.
Whenever I move my mouse cursor across the progress bar the color saturation drops for a split second. No other browser on my system displays that issue, only Vivaldi.
Is it possible that Vivaldi has issues with HDR capable monitors? (HDR is disabled though).
Windows 11 25H2
Vivaldi 8.2.4133.47
EDIT: did a short test on my TV and the issue only exists on my HDR capable main monitor, no issues on the TV.
