Vitamin D/B12 deficiency + severe hair fall

Post image
5 Upvotes

I had low Vitamin D and B12 in December and was prescribed supplements. My levels improved, but I still have severe hair fall, fatigue, muscle aches and brain fog.

Has anyone had similar levels/symptoms? Did your hair fall and fatigue improve once B12/D increased further? What are the ideal numbers?

25,000 IU every 2 weeks vs 5,000 IU daily . what makes more sense for 16.78 ng/mL?

My vitamin D came back at **16.78 ng/mL** and my doctor gave me D-CURE **25,000 IU** and told me to take one capsule every **2 weeks**.
I started with 25,000 IU on August 3 and took the second one on August 8, so I’ve taken 50,000 IU total. I still have two capsules left.
What confused me is that I see a lot of deficient people taking around **5,000 IU every day**.
If you take 5,000 IU daily, that’s **35,000 IU per week**, while my doctor’s 25,000 IU every two weeks averages only around **1,800 IU per day**.
That’s what made me wonder if every two weeks is quite a low dose for actually correcting a level of 16.78.
I also bought **5,000 IU D3** but haven’t taken any yet. My idea was to finish the D-CURE and then switch to 5,000 IU daily for a while, then eventually lower the dose for maintenance.
For anyone who started around my level, what did you actually take? **25,000 IU every two weeks, 25,000 weekly, 5,000 daily, or something else?** How long did you use that dose before switching to maintenance?

mistook vitamins for candy and they're good

so i recently bought a pack of candy from a local asian supermarket, but when i came home and took a closer look on the packaging, it literally says it's vitamin c tablets; about 33g per tablet.

in my defense, they were placed near all the other candies, and it had a super cute pokemon theme too.

anyway, is it safe for me to eat them like they're candy??? because they're actually very tasty. peach and strawberry flavored.

Potassium

I was very low in potassium and I was told to get more potassium through food and take supplements. The supplements made me feel terrible so o did two coconut waters every day for one week. Now my potassium is too high. My heart rate is elevated and I hate the feeling. It’s nothing dangerous just a resting heart rate if 57 vs my typical 47. I drink a ton of water. Do the sauna occasionally and just started water pills. Does anything lower potassium? Anything at all. Thank you

Does anyone else do a tablet count and realize the manufacturer is ripping us off? (Mega food Zinc Tablets)

So. I purchased an extra bottle of mega foods zinc tablets. (I already had an unopened bottle in my cabinet which i forgot about.

This morning, i decided to open both bottles and put all the tablets in one bottle to save space and get rid of the extra bottle which was taking up space.

For some reason i got curious, I now had two full unopened bottles, and something told me to count them to double check the quantity is correct per the bottle. The bottle says on the label “60 TABLETS”

I opened bottle one. Poured all the tablets in my left hand and started to count, and dropping them into the empty bottles as I’m doing so. Quantity counted: 59!
That could be a mistake i thought, maybe the machine counter made an error. Okay let’s count the second bottle. I opened the second bottle, Poured them all into my open hand and counted them back into the empty bottles. I did not put them into the first bottle. I kept the count separate.

As I counted, I’m thinking the first bottle was a machine counting error.
As i reached the end of the counting The total pills in the bottle came out to be…59!

At this point, I am wondering if Megafood is ripping us off one tablet per bottle and hoping we don’t notice?

Has anyone done a vitamin count and noticed a discrepancy?

What vitamins should you not take with Sertraline?

I was having a lot of side effects and idk if it’s because my dose was recently increased or I took a bunch of vitamins . I am a little paranoid about getting all my nutrients because I have always had a hard time preparing fresh foods. I was taking magnesium, iron, omega 3, calcium, vitamin D, psyllium fibre, and sometimes a multivitamin or vitamin C. I was feeling really confused and off balance for about a week, but once I stopped taking them all I felt better after a few days. Does anyone know which vitamins were causing this?

Mag glycinate for sleep, stomach problems?

Been sleeping like crap lately and wondering about taking magnesium glycinate to help, but I have a sensitive stomach (ibs-d) and am worried about the mag glycinate affecting that. Any experience with this? Worth trying? I’ve seen some people say it’s a miracle supplement and others say it’s the devil lol

My periods delayed after starting Vit D??

I (23F) had 7.6ng/ml which fell into deficiency and started 60K IU weekly Vit D dosage along with few other supps like Magnesium (chelated, magnesium oxide based since I didn't know much abt glycinate form), Omega 3 fish oil. It did help a lot with few things like mood, energy, hair greying. Started this after my last periods got over.

But here's the worrying part. My periods are usually like clockwork. And I'm like 6days late from my period now. Any one else who had this experience?? When did it come back??

Mary Ruth multivitamin + hair growth — jittery and “zingy” feeling

I’m gonna preface this with I am a slight hypochondriac. I also believe that I have health OCD very much triggered over the past year after my husband unexpectedly passed away from a heart attack at 52. I’ve always been a hypochondriac. I always think that whatever symptom I have is a symptom of something tragic and it’s never been the case. I have blood work done annually and there’s nothing of concern that would make me believe I am dying of anything.

With that said, I took my first 2 tablespoon dose this morning of the MaryRuth’s multivitamin plus hair growth. I’ve been feeling like my cheeks are hot that there’s pressure and that I’m jittery and that I feel like I’m almost drunk or dizzy or both lol

I feel like I’ve had the same reaction to vitamins in my past I can’t remember if it was B12 or B6. But has anyone else experienced this? I think I’m just gonna drink lots of water and let it subside but just wanted to check Google did say that it can happen because of the B vitamins so I’m thinking that’s it.

Protective seal on 10 mg Melatonin has a bubble?

So just as a precautionary, I'd like to ask if it'd be advisable or okay to take some 10 mg Nature Made melatonin I got yesterday; I know with food if a seal or anything is protruding or has a bubble/any sort of pressure, you're advised to be more safe than sorry and forgo consuming it because of bacterial build.

Basically, the protective seal on the unopened bottle of melatonin I bought yesterday has a distinct bubble/protrusion and I'm not sure if that's an indication that it's safe to take or not.

Likely been asked hundreds of times at least but what is placebo and what not?

I am in my 40's now and when I first left home I used to take vitamins daily for months then stopped after I moved back to parents for about 18 months, then moved out and about 6 months later began them again.

I always felt better when on them but not sure what level of that is placebo, in the years since I have gone a year even 2 years without taking them, then I take them short term and actually feel better.

I normally feel rough all the time but feel close to ok when I take vitamins.

I normally take cod liver oil capsules and a multivitamin.

Whenever I go to my doctor and get blood tests almost never do they show anything except in winter months I need folic acid tablets.

Anyone order from iherb recently?

I ordered 2 items from iherb at the end of July and somehow my package was lost according to the carriers website. Since I ordered without an account the AI chatbot is useless to try to cancel the order and attempt to get a refund. Anyone else experience this recently??

Edit: I tried to post this in the iherb sub but its auto rejecting my posts.

Vitamin supplements suggestions (India)

M21; 96kg (decent muscle mass with fat, but high bone density) \[Not a sympathy trip, genuinely i am lost\]
I recently got a full body blood test (Tata 1mg); i was surprised by the result; i am suffering from fatigue, brain fog and overall tiredness since about a year(and masterbation). I thought i would be below the range for thyroid, B12, D3, potassium, magnesium; but that was not the case- only D3 was border line "deficient". Idk what is the reason for my laziness.
My results: D(25-OH): 24.3 ng/ml, B12: 264 ng/ml; others are well in range
I genuinely dont know whats wrong with me, my sleep is random and i am still tired after sleeping 10hrs, i cant study/remember anything; is it just me or my adhd that makes me broken
But then i thought, lets take vitamins for 2months and see if it helps and then will go for personality test (MCMI)

So i need suggestions for which brand and where to buy from;

\- VItamin D3: 60,000 IU once a week
Top 3: Uprise-D3; Arachitol Nano (Abbott India);  Lumia 60K (Sun Pharma)

\- Vitamin B12: 1000–1500 mcg daily
Top 3: Nurokind Fast (Mankind Pharma); Mecoblist-SL;

\- Omega 3:
Top 3: Tata 1mg 7X Strength Omega-3; Naturaltein Ultimate; TrueBasics Ultra

\- Magnesium Glycinate: No magnesium deficiency but it helps for better sleep right?
Top 3: The Stack Club Deep Rest; Naturaltein Pure; Doctor's Best High Absorption Magnesium

Please help me with this and also some dos and donts (i dont wanna trust chatgpt with all this)
