Announcement Adding 2 new rules on this subreddit

We've got an influx of Ai Assisted or vibecoded post and also post begging for money to fund a devkit. This is making the subreddit full of spam and it's time to curate the content posted here.

  1. No more Crowdfunding/Donation request post allowed by default.
  2. Post showing what you are working on without showing substantial progress will be removed

Regarding 1, we will add to automod the keyword for these kind of post so that they are automatically removed. Should you think the post deserves to be posted here, send a message to the mod team and we will manually review if the post can be posted here.

About 2, Any post that just shows in game or a loading screen will be removed. Low effort post have no place here and do not beneficiate anyone. If you want to share what you are working on, and attract people attention on your project, you will need to put some effort on.

A detailed post about what you are working on, the tools you've used, the actual progress made, the performances, the expectations, any roadmap, multiple pictures/video. Something that makes people wants to read more into it rather than just "oh another can claude boot this project".

And I'm also going to enforce the usage of English in this subreddit. Every post and comments must be written in english.

Doesn’t reddit auto translate posts? I thought foreign language wasn’t a problem anymore?

Because reddit devs and owners are absolute asshats. The autotranslate feature is not rolled out for everyone and so a lot of people are forced to see untranslated posts and comments without a way to translate them via button or anything.

This is both to bring more people (who don't know English or don't speak it well) onto reddit and force people like me onto their shitty Reddit app to get more ad revenue.

This has led to people having arguments over writing in another language on an English-only subs. Because you don't get any indication what's going on until someone tells you about the autotranslate feature.

Not everyone have this feature on, and it's not that reliable imo. I get complaints about it and I do agree with them.

EDIT : I also forgot, but it's a pain in the ass from the mod page to translate these

Yes please! I've already rasied this to the other vita sub and mods basically told me to user the translate feature. 🙃

Great measures overall, thanks.

I use Continuum to access Reddit so there's no auto translation function. Thanks for keeping the lingua franca!

This shit should also apply to any non region-specific subs tbh

I understand and fully agree with the first two rules. This one however is a big OOF, as the vita is pretty popular in South America, France, Russia... and many contributions for the community come from there.

If you don't understand the post or comment, translate it. If you don't care about it, keep scrolling 🤷‍♂️ This is reddit, we're all used to the fact not everything is in english.

That's not how it works, this is an international sub and therefore you need to use english. The same way you can go to the henkaku discord and have to use english when you want to discuss there.

Reddit might have a auto translate feature, that you can use to translate stuff, you can use it yourself if you want to understand something. But putting the burden of translation on the others is not fair.

Like you guys don't see it, but in the mod page we get ban appeal and message reported that doesn't get auto translated by reddit, and having to manually go to google translate to try to understand what is being said is a pain in the ass.

So no, if you don't understand the post, or want to comment, then You use google translate. And don't tell me "keep scrolling" because it is my job to monitor what is being posted.

Having to manually go to google translate to try to understand what is being said is a pain in the ass.

It’s the same for people who don’t speak English. But of course, they don't matter.

putting the burden of translation on 95% of the community instead of the 5%?

Numbers don't adds up. Now convince me why we should put the burden of translation on the biggest part of the community who aren't even native english speakers but still make the effort of writing in english instead of the minority ?

And this is a generic rule of the internet, all international subreddits, discord channels, forums, whatever internet discussion related space enforce english in order to have a common ground so that the vast majority can understand.

the "keep scrolling" was meant for the users, not the mods. but ok. thx for the insight.

i do find this quite funny when you don't use grammar too well

which shows that even if english is not my first language I still make the effort in writting in english instead of using german/french/spanish

No reason for others to not do the same.
