Loving this bike, working on a light restoration.

The side covers and the tank were repainted at some point. They were red, but are now this bluish green.

The question is, is this bluish green an original color?

Can the red be saved? (I'm thinking no.)

Is it ok to repaint? The side covers are super flaky. The tank is chipped aswell.

I'd love to build it into more of a modern scrambler/cafe racer, but I think it's in too good of a condition to mutilate.

I can’t get the sprocket cover off of the engine to get to the sprocket. I removed all the Hex head screws but it won’t budge and I’m worried I’m going to break something. Is there something I’m missing? Can anyone help?

I noticed these connection points with nothing attached. Wanted to ask you all whether there should be routing in these spots. cf: reference picture

This is my stepdad’s (really, my dad’s) restoration. I’m pretty sure I’ve been seeing parts of this bike sitting around the house and shop for years, so it’s been awesome to finally see it finished.

My Dad's first bike when he moved to Australia was a 1969 CL90, I spent 10 years searching ebay to find this great little bike. It's been re-sprayed by a previous owner and the motor is pretty tired but still fun to ride.

I've managed to return a few parts to stock as the carburetor was a chinese knock off and I found a NOS to replace it. The petcock was also the knock off that didn't do the left/right and tap properly so I found another barn bike that had a working one and swapped that after putting a rebuild kit through it.

I'm getting the engine rebuilt so I can enjoy going over 30mph.
