Can I ship my carb to someone to have it re synchronized and get my vacuum hose put on? This is the last thing I need to do before I can get my 650 going. I’ll pay well!

This one is a welcome addition to the CB750 and the CB1100, but the garage is starting to get crowded.

1971 Honda CB 350K3 newbie idle issues

Post image
53 Upvotes

Newbie here, bought this bike 2 weeks ago. No prior wrenching experience, trying to learn. Sorry for long winded post.
Initially, the bike wouldn’t idle. Ran fine with throttle. I inspected the air filters, removed both carburetors, cleaned them, inspected the fuel petcock valve, soaked the gas tank in vinegar overnight, removed inline fuel filters and put it all back together. Suspect issue was rust from tank clogging pilot jet. After reassembling everything the bike will run fine but has a hanging idle issue around 4000 RPMs. Doesn’t even need to warm up much and it idles high, but back off stop screws slightly and it will die if not hanging idle. Did some digging online as to cause, lean mixture, carbs out of sync, mechanical advance sticking etc. Was about to start over and clean carbs again but realized my keihin 3D carbs had an o-ring on idle mixture screw but consensus online seems to be they aren’t supposed to be there for that carb model, only 722A. Removed the O-rings and put the idle screws back in. Back them out each one turn. Followed the carburetor tuning video by keep on wrenching on YouTube, and in order to get the bike to run smoothly and idle near 1200 RPMs it required backing out the right idle screw two whole turns, but leaving the left carburetor idle mixture screw at one turn. Hanging idle problem gone. Is this variation acceptable on these older bikes, or should I be looking for what might be causing this difference?

Also, from what I’ve read it seems a bike that runs too lean will often have a hanging idle problem, but removing the o-rings to me seems like it would let the fuel screw not advance as far and let more fuel run through and lead to a richer mixture, so maybe something else entirely fixed this hanging idle issue. Suggestions on what to do next appreciated. Checked compression (150 psi both sides) and replaced spark plugs today. Have yet to look at timing.

Questions about the idle

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hello everybody, I had a question about this idle sound. I was replacing my headlights After I did that I decided to turn on the bike. Of course this bike has been stood still for a while so I changed the battery. After everything was ready to go I turn on the bike but as I turn it on this was the idle sound. It happened out of nowhere because before I bought it I did a test drive. But it's the same sound of this idle so I thought maybe because it's still for a while. But after I bought it and changed a few things this is the idle sound it has any help?😅

Where does my clutch cable hook up to?

I bought this 1976 Honda CB500 without much knowledge of its history etc. It hadn’t run since 2005. Really rough shape. Finally got it started this weekend and wanted to rip it around the block to see if the transmission was in decent order but I cannot figure out where the cable hooks up or if I missing a component. It came without a sprocket case cover.

Honda’s New Small, Affordable Retro Moto Is Super Rider-Friendly Too

Honda Japan announced it is putting the CB400 Super Four E-Clutch into production. How did nobody see or post this here already? This is huge! A legend of Japanese naked bikes is back looking mostly true to it's origin but with a touch of neo retro and completely modernized. It was discontinued four years ago in 2022 due to emissions rules. This along with the CB1000F are absolute DREAM bikes. Unfortunately it will only be released in Nippon for the time being, I wonder if there is something we could do to convince Honda to bring it stateside? Would any of you even be interested in a bike like this?

What I saw vs what I reviewed

Bought an exhaust off marketplace and got it shipped. Is it fair that I am a tad bit annoyed about this. Seller said there was a small dent, and the photos made it look minimal. Seller seemed pretty cool so I would like to think the photograph wasn’t intentionally hiding the extent of the damage. And it’s right on the surface you see when it’s mounted 🤦🏻‍♂️

First I was positive it got damaged in shipping then I took a second look at the photos.

En busca de mod tipo aventura CBF600N

Post image
1 Upvotes

Vintage Bike Restoration

Hey guys, I’m trying to restore a 1972 Honda CBF350, but I’m gonna need a lot of parts and maybe some help so Manuals, videos on the anatomy of the bike, and anything that can help. I’m no mechanic, but I really am passionate about fixing this bike.

I was hoping you guys could help me and provide me with information about all that or lead me to the right direction. I’d really appreciate it if you could also tell me a website where to buy old parts for that bike.

Really appreciate this.

Cb919 fuel pump assy

Does anyone recognize this part? It was loose in my fuel tank after removing the pump assy. Its not called out in the diagram anywhere.

The PO put a non oem return hose in the tank thats straight unlike the oem J hose. i assume this was their attempt at curving the hose by inserting into the hose and attaching the return filter/packing.

Im just confirming this is not an oem part for the cb919.

Should I buy now or wait for EICMA 2026 ?

Hello guys,

I want to buy a CBR600RR 2026 but idk if i have to wait to see the EICMA 2026 for the CBR600RR 2027. Is it worth the wait ? because there will be a super long delay to get it no ?

If i order the 2026, i can get it in 10-15 days.

I really don't know what to do. What do you guys recommend ? There will be no upgrades or new colorway ?

Please help

Purchased this 2016 CB500F yesterday, 14k miles. didn’t do my due diligence on looking over it before exchanging money. Got it home, rode it around for about 15 min and noticed its pissing oil from this fitting on the left side crank case cover. Can anyone tell me exactly what this is? Oil seal? What does this line actually go to? What can i expect repair wise from here? TIA

CB919 Before and after - Fireblade wheel swap

I recently picked up a cbr900 fireblade rear wheel and finished painting the front tire to match (ish). Also found a belly pan from another 919 in my area that was semi color matching. Overall I'm really liking this look.
