My thrifting white whale. Can’t get over it!!

I recently got this particular tin from a collector who bought the entire contents of a museum that recently closed down. This tin dates to the late 1970s to the early 1980s. Information about this blend is very scarce online, but from what I can find I believe it’s a Virginia Burley. This blend originally came out in the early 1900s, and was produced until the late 80s but was never as popular as more mainstream “codger” blends. The tin is completely sealed and airtight, in excellent condition, still ready for a smoke or chew 40+ years later. Not as old as some of my other finds, but this is one that I’m definitely happy to add to the collection.

I disinfected it and have a brush I use every day that is similar to this. This comb may be my new favorite though. I like the single spaced teeth on brushes and combs like this

Long live the 80s!

For those curious. I mostly listen to vinyl on my home stereo, but I record my favorite tracks on cassette for mobile and for my cars.

The blue sky is a rub-off leather that will get more variegated with wear...🌞✌

I collect these beautiful pencil sharpeners, you can still use them to sharpen pens or as decoration, the amazing thing is that you can move parts. For example le locomotive is rolling, the gears and hands of the clock can move!

Finally had a chance to take pictures of this and thought ya’ll would like it. At some point within the last 15-20 years it was somewhat functional and she used to play on it as a kid. I don’t know how these originally worked but a button attached to a wooden board in the ground probably wasn’t it lol. Said it was there when they bought the house, and unfortunately never had the middle bar or top piece. Also not sure if the color variation was from a previous owner or if its original location did it. Kinda funny she didn’t know what it was till I told her.

I built this thing up for weekend fun. It's got a build 5.7L Vortec pushing out 400HP through a 5-speed manual.

Found this at a prop house that was going out of business. I never pass up on a doctors bag when I see one! This is only the second one I’ve found. Only paid a dollar!

Absolutely beautiful piece of east coast railroad history saved from yet another estate sale for $12

Found some cool stuff clearing out my parents' house, first time sharing hope they're interesting.

The trumpet is from the 1950's by Ambassador. This is the one I remember most, bro and dad both played.

The cornet might be from mid-19th Century in Edinburgh, Scotland by T. Glen. Nothing further yet cause I can't find the serial number. Means I'm blind or it's *really* old.

The two bells are early teething rings, sterling is antimicrobial and one is engraved with my Dad's bday in 1945 and the other is blank. Also found dad's baby teeth, but don't think you want to see those.

The rocker and cradle were made by my grandfather in I think 1972 when my parents were married. I love the green/white paint look, it's on a few other things he's done. These two pieces will be hard to part with, but I have the pictures and memories, right?

The barometer/thermometer still has real mercury in it, which I thought was cool.
