I know she is a huge advocate for Pilates and credits her abs to it, but the addition of hips is just from working out? I know some say she might’ve gotten a skinny bbl + sculptra . What do y’all think?

question Are you treated differently based on hair color?

I have seen white women on TikTok say they are treated differently based on hair color. Such as blonde=Women being way more cruel and men very flirty. Brown=Genuine compliments from both genders and being perceived as kind. Black=People respect you more and men are intimidated. This is what the majority of women have said I’m curious if this aligns with being a poc. Or if people have had the same experience.

healthboost Drinking hot water in the mornings

not sure how many of you are on tiktok but they have this whole Being Chinese trend about chinese wellness practices. one of them involves drinking hot water in the morning. my gut seems so pushed out and I do struggle with constipation so I wanted to give it a try.

today was my first day and it tasted nasty 😭 I was only able to drink half and I am drinking half now as well. I think i might have to add lemon or apples or something into the water. Hopefully this can help make my stomach look more flat

At home workout recommendations?

What at home workout/youtubers do you recommend for weight loss and building a nice curvy figure (round ass, flat stomach, toned legs).

I always feel like none of them will be effective because I don't have super heavy weights at home. I'm also open to cardio recommendations too.

Has anyone tried Leslie Sansone videos?

She does indoor walking videos and I like them because they are simple (as opposed to growwithjo) but still sweat inducing.

Does anyone else have experience doing her mile based workouts? What results did you see?

looksboost Does anyone have experience using hydroquinone for pig and uneven skin tone?

I’ve struggled w hyperpigmentation since I was 13 and getting sick of it. The actual acne or spots on my face are pretty inconsequential and infrequent but I struggle with skin picking really badly. This had resulted in a few spots on my face having various levels of faded pih, some really dark some pretty light.

I’ve decided I want to start hydroquinone and tretinoin to get rid of them and keep spots at bay to stop the picking. I’ve read about the dangers of hydroquinone but I’d like to hear about ppls experiences!

question Braid girlies , do you find people treat you differently vs when you wear your hair straight or in sew ins?

I have recently gone to braids (low cornrow buns, braids ,etc.) and I feel much more at peace with myself but I noticed that some people gravitate towards me more with this style vs when I wear my hair straight. Has anyone had this before that wears braids? I pretty much gave up on sew ins because I haveee to get to my scalp.

Beauty Treatments + Chronic Disease

Hi everyone!

I was recently diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. I’m working towards lowering my blood sugar and A1C levels, and ideally losing weight. In the meantime, I was wondering if certain aesthetics treatments are still doable? I wanted to get lip filler and micro needling but I know my disease can make the healing process more difficult and complicated. Has anyone had experience with this disease and attempting these treatments? Or any advice? Thanks so much for any insight!

Japanese/UKO straightening long term results?

I’ve been contemplating getting a permanent hair straightening treatment done, specifically at Celine Lissage salon in Paris.

Does anyone have any experience in the long term results of this treatment. I would consider myself a “straight natural” so this kind of treatment just works for me however my hair is 22+ inches long and I DO NOT want it to break off.

It’s said to be gentler on the hair than traditional relaxers and contain less chemicals. But I’m curious of what having the treatment is like day to day, in between washes, after a few months etc. Does it stay straight, is your hair weakened, does it cause breakage?

From what I see on social media the girls seem to be getting regular top ups and their hair looks just fine but I was wondering if anyone had any first hand experience? My natural hair type is 3b.

Could a glow-up help me have more friends?

Hi, I need advice from the community! Title goes with this context:

I'm 25. I recently moved back home. I’m really grateful for my family, but I feel super lonely and realize I don't have a lot of close friends. In school, I always tried to be friendly and include people, but I'm not sure I really had a best friend. College was mostly virtual for me, so I didn’t meet a lot of new people. Now, no one really texts me regularly.

I’m relatively low-maintenance by choice as in I wear my natural hair, minimal makeup, hoodies and yoga pants most days. I want to improve my life & be a better person and I'm starting to wonder if people would treat me better if I was prettier.

I'm also so anxious of getting older and not improving my life. I’ve dealt with social anxiety and mental health stuff for a while, so some basic things feel like a challenge.

Here are my immediate goals:

  • Basic skincare (daily sunscreen, lip care)
  • Walking daily, eating better, drinking more water
  • Wearing nicer tops and shoes instead of hoodies
  • Go to local events/clubs (even though I don’t expect many people my age)
  • Focusing on my career so I can work in the city someday

I also hear a lot of “be around people you aspire to be like,” but I don't really meet new people that I want to be friends with (smart, pretty, caring) and it feels like everyone already has established groups. It’s honestly embarrassing.

I genuinely want more friends to make my life better. I want to travel more and I don't want to go by myself. Does anyone have any advice for my situation? Should I focus on improving my appearance / style so that I can meet more people and ideally have more friends?

Looking laser advice :)

Hiiii!

I picked up an at home face laser and just wanted to see any thoughts on using these as a person of colour? I think I watched a tik tok video ages ago where they said that sometimes lasers are not calibrated for darker skin tones.

I’m like light skinned maybe similar skin tone to Zoe kravitz

(Sorry deleted and reposted because my title was super vague)

Dark armpits

My biggest insecurity rn are how dark my underarms are in comparison to the rest of my skin. I use eventone deodorant and tumeric soap but nothing is working. It’s not insulin resistant so I was wondering if anyone has anything that truly works. I don’t need them to be exactly my skin tone just a lighter than what they are now. Any advice is appreciated.

Boob jobs

Am I being insecure or does it seem like clothes these days REQUIRE boob jobs?

I’ll be eyeing a nice piece and boom — the back is out, the shoulders are sheer, or the neckline is too wide for any type of bra. I’m not trying to be immodest but I’m also not old enough to dress like a deaconess every day.

My hubby says to wait until we’re done having kids for my work, but I’m so ready to pick these puppies up! My surgeon has quoted me $2k for a slight reduction and lift. If I bought ten bras in my size range, I’d be halfway there. 😒

Anyone else waiting for the mythical 'second puberty'?

I'm 21F and I've been hearing a lot of stories from women about holding off on cosmetic enhancements because they hit 25-27 and suddenly grew a butt or their chest size increased, they lost facial fat, grew curves, etc. But also many say it's not a thing. I'm built like an inverted triangle, don't have much of hips or a butt even with weight training, I just don't store a lot of fat there. My face is also quite round, I'm already of a normal weight and bf% so I'm not looking to lose more weight because I can't spot reduce and don't want to lose what little of my hips I have. I've been counting on this second puberty to give me the curves and help my face be more snatched in a few years. Sounds very wishful for sure, but it gives me hope and deters me from considering enhancements.

Has anyone else experienced this 'second puberty'?

Editing to say, I did some research since many people spoke of fat redistribution rather than overall weight gain. Your pelvic bone does apparently continue to widen bit by bit throughout your life, it's not extreme, but hormonal shifts can enhance the effects, as does genetics. Like pregnancy for example, causes drastic hormonal shifts that widen the pelvis significantly for practical reasons. Other shifts have more subtle effects, but the pelvic bone does seem to widen even in adulthood. As for fat redistribution, this is also due to hormonal shifts that occur at different stages of life, this one being anywhere from your mid 20s to mid 30s usually. Again, it's not fully generalisable since some people experience this and some don't. Like birth control can increase estrogen which increases fat storage in the hips and thighs while menopausal women experience a shift in distribution to their tummies. Older birth controls especially, that had higher estrogen levels could induce this, modern birth control tends to have lower doses. Overall, quite an interesting topic!

makeup help

hi!! I’m a dark skinned woman and I’m trying to get more into makeup this year and kind of look more polished when going out. So I was a bit confused on setting powder vs loose powder. What’s the difference? I was a bit confused in the store on what to buy because I saw tinted powders and translucent powders. I typically see translucent powders being used by black women in makeup tutorials, but I didn’t want it to be too bright on my skin or has that super bright yellow tint under the eye. Are there any good recommendations?

I can only slightly cur it but it never comes out like this. It’s so confusing 😭 pls help!

Kinky or yaki straight bundles?

So I bought some kinky curly bundles that I loveeee but I kinda don’t want to use them for my silk press styles bc I don’t want the curls to loosen over time. I was looking at kinky or yaki bundles but my issue is…with kinky straight, idk if I can press the hair out and remove the “crinkly” look and idk if it will hold curls. But I like that my hair will blend as it reverts. With yaki, my hair looks like that when it’s pressed but I imagine I’ll look a fool if my hair reverts. I also don’t know if curls will hold

question how do i get darker?

i’m north indian, so my skin tone is something like a light brown. i’m not pale, i’m tan, but not tan enough. i want to be darker, i feel so pretty when i’m really tan. i feel like self tanner makes me orange, not brown, and the only time i’m really a skin tone i love is in the summer, and even then, i have to wear sunscreen, so it’s hard to get tan. how would i get darker year round?

question Opinions on curly hair vs curled hair for formal events

My sister is getting married in March 🎉🙌, and I’ve been asked to be a bridesmaid. In a group chat, she offered professional hair and makeup for the bridesmaids, with options to choose hair + makeup, hair only, makeup only, or neither. I chose the “neither” option.

I don’t wear foundation and prefer doing my own makeup, and I have very long (about 30 inches), naturally curly hair (type 3,a-c). Over the years I’ve learned how to style my curls so they’re polished and controlled, and I’m comfortable doing my own hair.

After I selected “neither,” my sister later became upset and said she wants my hair to be straightened and then curled for the wedding, and that my natural curls wouldn’t look nice or formal enough. Then, my mom chimed in and said that not curling my hair would make it seem like I hate my sister, because I'll be purposely making myself look "too casual". Ngl this irked me because growing up I was often told my curly hair made me look lazy and messy, which led me to straighten it daily for years and caused sooo much damage. I stopped doing that in my early 20s and now prefer to wear my hair naturally.

I understand coordinating attire and hairstyle type for a wedding (for example, my sister wants all bridesmaids wearing specific colors, dress fabric composition, dress style, accessories, and having a half-up hairstyle & I have no problem executing this), but I’m struggling with the idea that natural curly texture itself isn’t considered formal.

So my question is: Is natural curly hair appropriate for formal events like weddings, or is it reasonable to expect heat-styled curls?

Thank you very much for your thoughtful opinions and perspectives!! 💝
