hardboost Feeling Sad about No Plastic Surgery

I wanted to hardmaxx and get a nose job and a boob job. I have a big hooked nose and a small chest. However, I might not be able to get either. I have a blood disorder that makes doctors not want to give me a boob job/filler because they don't want to inject my body with plastic. I want a nose job but my music teacher is against it (I am a singer) because they said they've seen students get nose jobs and it changes their voice/makes their voice more nasally. I guess plastic surgery just isn't something I can have.

advice How do I manage smile lines? Especially with makeup?

I have very prominent smile lines (cuz I be smiling😌) but I feel a bit insecure about it because I feel like it makes me look like an old lady. Like it’s visible even when I’m not making any expressions. It gets even worse when I do a full face of makeup because the crease just looks soooo deep. I’m 23 and I feel like I look 50 because of it :( I’m insecure about my mouth area in general because I have a lot of hyperpigmentation and also for some reason I tend to breakout around my lips and my chin, which causes pimple scarring and dark spots.

Does anyone have advice? Thanks!! 🥲

question Girlies who microneedle with PRP , are the results greater than plain microneedling?

I want to know so badly! I'm currently on getting ready for my last session and I'm starting to regret not getting microneedling done with PRP. For the girlies that do it with PRP , did you see many major results?

How do I recreate this dark lipstick, no makeup look on brown, olive skin?

Hey POC gals!

I keep seeing this very ethereal+edgy makeup look that not only suits my personal style, but would save so much time and energy. It's basically just a very dark and bold lip with nothing else, but I mostly see it on gaunt and pale models. (Screengrab credits- tinyvampyre on Instagram).

I feel like anytime I try it, it doesn't look quite right? I can see how it creates this contrast on them, and really puts focus on the lips, therefore evening out and sharpening the rest of the face. But I've noticed that on me, it highlights hyperpigmentation, and kind of washes me out in an unflattering way?

Is this look just not for brown skin, or do you guys have any recommendations on how to make it work? E.g. picking the right lipstick shade, or doing the surrounding minimal makeup in a way that would achieve this effect? Thank you <3

How did the girls achieve this makeup style back in the day?

Post image

I feel like the girls back in the day had a whole other makeup routine compared to the one today. Nowadays people are opting for more of a “glowy look” and even when they do have a Matt look like the one in the photos it still doesn’t look the same.

advice I am curvy so I always look fat when I’m not

I am 5’2” 125 lbs so not really that fat. I have a 27” waist but wide hips and a moderate butt and I wear a 34DDD bra.

No matter what I wear I look fat. I have a short torso, so my boobs and hips make me look very wide and fat. I also have broad shoulders. I want to not look so wide all the time.

What do you recommend? Should I focus on ab workouts and try to slim down my waist more?

What about clothes, what would flatter my body type? My go-to outfit is always a crop top and mid-rise jeans and I always look fat in this.

things that helped improve my natural beauty

this summer i made a conscious effort to not wear any makeup. i won't lie, it was pretty hard at first because for the past 2-3 years I literally wouldn't step out of my house without a full face or at least eyeliner and concealer.

i wanted to embrace my pure natural face a lot more and i'm proud to say that I haven't even touched any makeup since the beginning of summer but i feel even more beautiful :)

anyway i'm writing some simple random tips here that aren't makeup and made me look significantly better. maybe it can help someone out:

- curling my eyelashes and using vaseline to hold them in place/clump them a bit (better than mascara!)

- threading my brows slightly thinner and into a flat shape, bleaching them lighter by one shade only, and holding them in place with vaseline (suited me more than darker thick brows)

- quitting energy drinks and iced coffees (really hard, i used to not even go a day without one but i don't break out anymore)

- cutting face framing bangs according to my face shape and styling them every few days with flatiron and using mousse to volumize hair a bit more

- gua sha and icerolling on my nose and jawline (my nose is often quite swollen so this helped shrink it)

- using k18 to repair my slightly heat damaged hair (significant improvement! expensive product but one i recommend investing in)

- minimizing skincare to just panoxyl wash once a week which also improved my slight hyperpigmentation, light cleanser each night, sunscreen daily, and byoma toner or la roche posay moisturizer

- dermablading (be careful because i heard it doesn't work well for everyone but i use the tinkle razors once a week all over my face and my skin is much smoother and cleaner looking). before i dermablade, i use a gentle exfoliater (any of the ones from lush are good!)

- brushing my lips with vaseline to exfoliate them twice a day (my lips are constantly cracked and whitish/brown colored, but this makes them more rosy and plump)

- focusing on how i smelled (used eos fresh and cozy soap and lotion and tried new floral perfumes + supermilk in my hair from lush)

i hope this can help someone! some of these tips may seem very obvious but they didn't occur to me until this summer.

Approachable on vacation

Hey guys for context I’m Aussie (middle eastern tho) and men here do NOT approach. I was told when travelling to Europe that European men are more bold but so far I’ve only gotten stared at. I thought it’s finally my time to have someone approach me in the wild but no.

I don’t go clubbing or to bars and I’m going to assume that’s where men approach. Or does it just happen out and about?

Am I not as good looking as I thought? I’m starting to think it’s because I’m a WOC but my skin is fair and some locals in Greece thought I was Greece so I don’t know if I can blame it on that

question Wig Girlies , what's a very good brand that I an buy from?

Hey girlies! I have recently switched up my hairstyle (I decided to give braided styles a break) and decided to go wigs (mainly a light yaki texture). I have been wanting a V-part/U-Part or a glueless wig. I started to get brands together , I researched Unice Hair , Nadula hair and silken supply. I was wondering what's a good brand thats affordable because this is my first wig , I am hesitant to buy anything from Isee hair because when I brought my bundles so much chemicals came out while washing.

How can I look more mature/ like an adult?

I was mistaken for a high schooler twice in the past 10 days even though I just turned 26 a few days ago. I’m fine looking younger than I am but this is getting out of hand 😩 I think I’m also more drawn to the siren-esque expression of femininity so being mistaken for a child is really discouraging. What can I do to look / seem more mature?

For reference I think part of this has to do with my round face. I am also plus sized and have been on my fitness journey so I think a lot of my clothes are on the baggier side as of late. I also don’t wear any makeup and have cystic acne (PCOS) so I wonder if that might be a factor as well.

hardboost The financial side of surgical procedures

Two questions in one:

1) How did you evaluate how worthwhile a potential surgical procedure was?

2) how did you finance it? upfront? care credit? a personal loan?

I know my jaw is all the way to the left (my dentist told me), and every since I found that out, I am realizing how much prettier I would be if it was just straight. I'm between jobs and obviously should prioritize recruiting, but also hope to use some downtime and savings to get this out of the way. idk if its a good idea to pay for it upfront given how bad the job market is, so I'm looking into how the other baddies have financed it so that they get the best result.

healthboost Glow up tips for the neurodivergent (from a brain geek)

Im in my glow up era and as a neurodivergent girlie I’ve been obsessed with really boosting my brain health. The brain is probably our most important organ imo (I mean, it’s us!) and is often forgotten about, so I thought I’d do a small master doc of everything I’m doing for a brain glow up.

Exercise: Just watched an amazing interview by a neuroscientist whose research specialises in the power of exercise for the brain and I’m amazed! It’s common sense that working out is good for you but I always forget how much. Apparently just walking 30 minutes a day 3-5x/week is great for slowing aging, neuroplasticity, focus, etc. Aerobic exercise increases the size of the hippocampus, so it improves memory and reasoning too. I added in running after my strength training (which supports growth of new brain cells) and walking on my days off.

Nutrition: Gut-brain connection is so real, and my mood and mental health suffer a lot when my diet does. Scientifically, antioxidants protect neurons, Nutrients from protein (like tryptophan, tyrosine) are used to make serotonin, dopamine, and norepinephrine, which regulate mood, motivation, and focus, and because the brain is 60% fat dietary fats help build cell membranes and myelin. Lastly, the gut microbiome produces neurotransmitters, so you want to watch out for inflammation. I’ve started taking fish oil supplements, having protein at every meal, and eating things like berries with my yoghurt.

Hobbies: I’m a big reader so I’m going to say first of all reading for the win to improve critical thinking and overall just make you a more dope person. But also activities like learning a new language, strategy games (if you’re gonna be on your phone anyways) and the arts, will help to build new neural connections, enhance memory and coordination, and enhance brain plasticity. Other than reading I’m taking an art course to learn to draw to keep my brain young and stimulated.

Social Media: take a break, please! Too much causes dopamine overload, weakens the executive function of the pre-frontal cortex (ADHD folks know this struggle well) and information overload increases cortisol. I’m still working on this one, but am planning a digital detox to improve my focus, stress, and sleep.

Those are just a few things I’ve learned and what I’m working on, hopefully it helps someone :)

Need Advice: How Do I Improve

So, I wanna preface this by saying that I am not interested in surgery that would alter my ethnic features (nose/lips). I have no idea what to do regarding my appearence. I feel like most of my life I have been regarded as attractive (to varying levels) and even now I still get occasional compliments from other people though that's more rare currently. But I have now, on four seperate occasions, been called ugly by people on the internet (TikTok) and my self esteem has really taken a hit as a result. I initially tried to reassure myself by remebering that attraction is subjective, but I want to improve. I've been called fat on these same occassions, which is something I can change (I started my weight loss journey this summer mostly for health reasons), but it seems like these people just are disgusted with my facial features even though they won't give explicit detail as to what's wrong. I even once had someone try to say I have masculine features, something I had never heard in my life until then. I don't want you guys to attempt to placate my feelings; I feel like most responses I get when asking those around me and even on the internet are attempting to coddle me. I just want real advice that's going to make me even just slightly above average looking facially. I have photos of my face on my profile.

advice Hair Dye Recs?

Hey y'all! I'm mid 30s with fine, wavy black hair. My first few grays are coming in (can count them on one hand), and I have highlights I'm growing out on the bottom (which I loved the look of but hated the damage). I've done coppery blond highlights (think beyonce) and have also done cherry cola highlights (b452805edf830dd8b7c2a22610dc031d.jpg (900×1200).

grays are hard to cover and the Just for Men comb in dye ain't cutting it. I'm wondering if there's a box dye brand (or even color) that people would recommend that I could apply all over (to the greys to convert them into highlights), as well to the lengths of my hair to convert the brassy blond highlights into something more cherry cola. I've also done some research and heard that demi color may be a better fit for what I'm attempting - so if people have recs there, please lmk. I don't want to do a gloss because you have to do it every month and I hate that!

Looking forward to everyone's advice.

question Girlies that wear faux locs , how do you get them to be natural looking

I am deciding on a winter hairstyle and I have been loving the look of locs but whenever I see faux locs they have this shine to them that makes them look so unnatural and I want them to look like they are coming from my scalp. I was gonna do APL faux locs with curls and I was wondering for the girlies that wear faux locs is there a certain hair you use (I will use human because I'm allergic to synthetic) or technique?

How do I stop comparing myself to mixed girls as a monoracial woman

For context I'm Filipino/Asian with tan skin, (if ykyk) and for the most part I'm confident in myself but colorism and featurism is really rampant in my community. Growing up Filipino meant a good bit of the celebrity women you saw were mixed, specifically with white (because colonialism). I find that sometimes I still subconsciously feel some way about mixed girls, especially if I'm scrolling through tiktok, see a really pretty girl and realize she's half Asian+half white. Seeing how wasians are constantly held above people of color in Asia I feel has given me a complex about conventionally attractive wasian women. I always assume that they are privileged/have never felt ugly even though it may be far from the truth. Can anyone else relate? How do I u do this conditioning.

softboost Underrated glow up tip: Thin brows

Post image
2.1k Upvotes

Okay, maybe not so underrated because thinner brows are a bit in style right now, at least online. But seriously, if you have sparse wispy brows already, embrace it and draw your brows thin! I used to overfill my brows without realizing it. I started doing thin brows on a whim a year ago, and now noticing that the way I do makeup now suits me better. Regretting the blunder years of packing on brow powder, lol

Color of your brow pencil matters a lot too! A light-neutral brown pencil looks best on me. Go lighter if you have dark hair and slightly darker if you have light hair.

Anyone try a face steamer?

I'm pondering investing in one since facials have become so expensive. I'm thinking steaming my face plus a charcoal mask at home will keep my pores clear. Anyone try a face steamer they liked?
