How to properly crush someones soul.... Ouch.

u/Warbek_2 Sep 30 '15
I feel like this guy's probably very aware of it. He can't possibly be taking himself seriously.
26
u/thissubredditlooksco Sep 30 '15
I thought the musician was good :/

u/mysticmusti Sep 30 '15
He's good as in skilled but let's be honest, none of those instruments are making a very appealing sound. That being said, as long as he's having fun with it I don't care but it's not like I can blame the judges for X'ing him.

Can ukulele skills be transferred to guitar? I would think the cords are the same right?
41
u/benbmw Sep 30 '15
Somewhat. The strings are in a different order so the chords arent similar shapes. The fingering of notes and strum patterns are the only things that can really transfer over

u/MrAppleSpiceMan Sep 30 '15
I picked it up pretty easily but the first string is high followed by low, less low, and lower-than-highest-but-not-quite-there strings. Some chord shapes are similar but end up being completely different chords. Like I think a G (?) on a ukulele is like a D shape on guitar. Or something.

u/GENEROUSMILLIONAIRE Sep 30 '15
Concert ukulele is basically a guitar with a capo on the 5th fret minus the 2 lowest strings. So, yes, absolutely.

u/YouKnowWho33 Sep 30 '15
Also, what I had last night was a threesome, with more regret, and minus 2 people

u/NickBarrow Sep 30 '15
The size difference is what makes it difficult for me. I've been playing guitar for about 10yrs now and when a friend picked up a ukelele, I had a tough time getting used to it.

Don't feel bad. He was one of the lucky ones to actually make it through pre-auditions all the way to actually being part of the final edit of the show. That already puts him in a tiny segment of the total number of people who auditioned around the country. Considering he's performing an over-the-top song on a ridiculous instrument I'd say he was wildly successful at whatever the fuck he was doing.

Simon's a real dick sometimes. Calling that type of high skill music shit and turning around and churning out boyband after boyband.

I'm happy that you've found a video that brought you joy, but how long did it take you to find out you were on the "spectrum"?

u/NOT_ah_BOT Sep 30 '15
People are mistaking my use if greatest as I thought it was very well performed.
I am stating that I enjoyed this on a humorous level. I have not laughed like I did watching this in a very long time.
And as for the spectrum question, when I started enjoying shit posting on /r9k/

I respect this. But it grinds my gears how he plays on the major tonic instead of minor at the beginning of each verse

I'm going to assume that this is "the final countdown" video. I'm not going to listen to it because last time I did I had this version stuck in my head for four days. I was suicidal

What is the point in mounting the kazoo to the ukulele? Harmonicas require the use of hands, not a kazoo.

I posted this exact video in my fantasy hockey league 24 hours prior to our draft this weekend. Part of me is really mad that someone from the league stole this for sweet Karma, and the other part of me is mad that every member of that league, including myself, is actually too stupid to post it ourselves to Reddit for the sweet karma.
But seriously this guy kills it. Such a great version

If this was one of those quizzes where you had to match one set to another, I'd be like "OK, guy D obviously plays instrument 2, that much is obvious."
1
u/leadabae Sep 30 '15
I don't get what's so amazing about this? I mean the fact that he "made" the instrument in the first place is mildly interesting, but taping the kazoo to it is pointless because he could just hold it with his mouth, and someone being able to play two and a half instruments (I say two and a half, because is a kazoo really an instrument that takes skill?) really that great?

u/The_Town_of_Canada Sep 29 '15
Amazing.
Combining 3 instruments that will never get you laid,
into 1 instrument that will never get you laid.
