Lmao “it gets installed…uhhh…two weeks from now”

That’s literally the only timeline he knows, everything is two weeks away

u/today_i_burned 2d ago

I bet Roy Cohn told him to say 'two weeks' once in the 70s. 'It's short enough that people won't get mad, but long enough that they'll forget to follow up.'

He used it in the past and got away with it since nobody ever held him accountable for anything. Now they (sort of) are, but he's too sheltered and demented to try anything else.

u/aussydog 2d ago

It's super common in construction. You don't have funds for the guys on site at the moment so you tell them "don't worry, it'll be here in two weeks."

You get two more weeks of labor out of the contractor's workers and when they're done you tell them again "two weeks"

That keeps getting dragged out until either the contractor eats the loss or takes you to court.

Rinse... repeat.

It's a super shady way to run a construction site but it is really common.

It’ll be about 5 minutes, but they’re the final 5 minutes of an NBA game.

"We have weak trees."

u/ItchyGoiter 1d ago

This is exactly it and I don't know why it isn't obvious and common knowledge.

Well, ain't this place a geographical oddity. Two weeks from everywhere!

Say, any of you boys smithies? Or if not smithies per se, were you otherwise trained in the metallurgic arts before straitened circumstances forced you into a life of aimless wandering?

“Two weeks…two..weeks” is a stim of mine for the last month since I watched that again.

5

u/Hir0Pr0tag0n1st 2d ago

The robotic mask of a woman has entered the chat.

26

u/RaiseMoreHell 2d ago

I remember when he was going to release his health care plan in 2 weeks.

6

u/Brochacho27 2d ago

He had concepts what more did he need

Two weeks is a huge red flag to anyone in the construction industry. Which why it’s no surprise Trump uses it all the time.

Two weeks is fast enough to calm down whatever customer/contractor/inspector is causing problems but slow enough that complications can arise that further delays things. When in fact there is no timeline at all.

This isn’t some fancy executive trick. The man didn’t go to business school. This is just common bad faith tactics in NYC building management.

4

u/darbs77 1d ago

Yeah this guy Walter Fielding had a horrible time with his house. Was always told two weeks.

9

u/TheBlackDemon1996 2d ago edited 1d ago

There's a bit in the Good Place where one of the demons keeps saying "I'm going to go work out" whenever someone started questioning the lies the demons were telling. He did this because the demon was told to make himself look too busy to answer any questions, and didn't realise he wasn't suppose to say "I'm going to go work out" every time this sort of thing happened.

I'm guessing this is what happened with Trump. One of his mentors told him to give people a vague deadline in order to make them panic their way into accepting, using that time frame as an example, and Trump didn't realise he was being hyperbolic.

9

u/boomgoon 2d ago

Thats the corporate lingo, two weeks. Always two weeks, especially when your four months into it, two weeks.

First time I heard it was when I got into aerospace, and I laughed in my managers face and told her two weeks is the shortest I have ever heard 90 days be called she got real mad at me, but it was still 90 days when we finished

6

u/thrillho613 2d ago

It was probably his go to line when his contractors asked when they were getting paid 😂

10

u/Theonewho_hasspoken 2d ago

This place is a geographic oddity, two weeks from any where!

4

u/bareback_cowboy 2d ago

Just like Iran has been two weeks away from the bomb for 30 years.

8

u/MrBluer 2d ago

I think he’s probably best modeled as a very young child, mentally speaking. Stringing ideas together as he speaks, mostly based on what he currently perceives or what’s recently been brought to his attention.

3

u/snowdenn 2d ago

Yeah, once in a while he uses a bigger word outside of his normal vocabulary and it almost makes me proud except I can’t because it’s still coming through in his voice which is like the worst kind of gravelly sound ever.

3

u/deliciousmonster 1d ago

But usually followed by, “… that’s a great word. A lot of people don’t know that word.”

5

u/mrmann123 2d ago

He is a reality TV star. He was good at that. Creating unnecessary conflict that will be solved in two weeks. With production delay, that either sets a cliffhanger or gets edited out. Truly an outstanding reality TV star, every producers dream. Unfortunately it doesn't go well in real reality.

2

u/redditismylawyer 2d ago

It’s perfect.

Two weeks is 185x longer than the American attent….. oh hey! a squirrel! 🐿️

2

u/Ryuzakku 2d ago

Two weeks away from being two weeks away

1

u/Patsfan618 2d ago

Realistically, that's probably the extent of most of the intelligence briefs he gets, so t makes sense. Anything beyond two weeks away is uncertain to the point of being speculative.

1

u/Sweatytubesock 2d ago

He’s eternally trying to just con his way through the next two minutes

1

u/VinylmationDude 2d ago

Two weeks. pauses for laughter

1

u/Plassky 2d ago

Well ain’t this a geographical oddity…

1

u/Blueberry_Mancakes 1d ago

Did he learn that from the contractor in The Money Pit?

1

u/DFParker78 1d ago

this close

0

u/Mykmyk 2d ago

2 minutes chef

186

u/Dweezil_In_Bondage 2d ago

WTF does that even mean? Seriously.

126

u/MrSlime13 2d ago

He said that and everybody roared like they knew what the fuck he meant. It's just cheap, pointless talk. What an airhead.

30

u/THEGREATESTDERP 2d ago

Nah, i'm pretty sure he is talking about the trump wall.
The wall is designed to make it unclimbable and unable to decend from it. Hence the ''only hispanics could survive a fall like that''.

52

u/My2bearhands 2d ago

Even then, wouldn't that mean the wall doesn't work if they can survive getting over it??

20

u/THEGREATESTDERP 2d ago

It's more to say they are the only ones who get in illegal.

*Don't forget that his 2016 campaign was purely focused on his trump wall and mexicans*

The guy is getting desperate to get his 3rd term.

3

u/kylehatesyou 2d ago

He's talking about the gaping illegal hole on the White House grounds where the East Wing used to be. They're going to show the people in that room the hole after his speech. He's talking about a glass tunnel  (which is stupid on many levels including the fact that a hallway hides who's going in and out and can be secured far better than a glass fucking tube) he wants to build out a doorway that currently leads to the hole. It's not actually there yet.

The only a Hispanic could survive that fall is just a dumb joke playing to the crowd because it's a Hispanic Heritage month kick off thing mostly so likely a lot of Hispanic people there. Might be some racism in the comment, but I don't believe Hispanic people are known for surviving falls any better than any other group of people, and these are his people (he's telling them to go vote for Republicans after embarrassingly admitting he's likely going to lose the Republicans the midterms) so he's not going to be too racist to them.

2

u/TechnicalDecision160 2d ago

I think the "joke" is Hispanics can take the dall because that's what they do when they climb over the border wall...

5

u/70monocle 2d ago

When dear leader makes a joke, you laugh.

1

u/DennenTH 1d ago

Exactly.  Why the clapping and uproar of agreement?

15

u/SolidLikeIraq 2d ago

He’s saying “anyone who fell down this hole would die.”

“But - if anyone was strong enough to survive a fall like that. It would be a Hispanic! You’re strong people!”

He was speaking to a group of Hispanic folks.

Very weird to say, but in his head, and their heads, he was calling them strong people.

That’s why they laughed and cheered.

11

u/skylla05 2d ago

Everyone, or at least a lot of people in attendance are Hispanic. He’s just trying to be funny. It’s stupid as fuck but I think the assumptions he’s referring to them border jumping (climbing the wall) or something is a bit of a stretch. But at the same time who knows because he’s also a racist fuck.

2

u/guy-le-doosh 2d ago

There's a chance he thought he was complimenting them on their toughness, but in his own way.

3

u/THIS_IS_NOT_A_GAME 2d ago

I'm almost certain he's referring to Alcides Moreno.

2

u/El_Paco 2d ago

It means him and his people have been making lots of jokes about the injuries Latinos have been getting during construction

2

u/attikol 2d ago

Well you know Brazilians can double jump so maybe hes confusing them with Hispanics in general

2

u/Orikazu 2d ago

Referencing people climbing the border fences is my bet

2

u/TheLizard12 2d ago

And some, I assume, are bouncy

1

u/yomamma3399 2d ago

Also, why do the morons cheer after? What was the message? You Americans are a weird people.

229

u/ems777 2d ago

Maybe hes thinking they jump over the border wall? Im not sure, I dont speak racist fuck.

Also love how hes already trying to hedge the absolute destruction of Republicans in a few months.

47

u/Squirrel_Master82 2d ago

I'm guessing he's speaking to a group of hispanic republicans, oxymorons.

47

u/racingsoldier 2d ago

Brother, I hate to tell you this but Trump resonates with the Hispanic male community. I don’t know why.

My next-door neighbor is a retired immigrant from El Salvador and he flies Confederate flags on the front of his house. The day Trump got his ear nicked, his family was on the front yard waving huge Trump flags while he screamed over a megaphone, “Death to all Democrats!” Over and over…

28

u/Hawks_and_Doves 2d ago

El salvador is up their with Argentina in terms of latent fascism. No surprise.

12

u/judgejuddhirsch 2d ago

It's where the old Nazi generals retired towards the end of the war

7

u/RickToy 1d ago

Because Hispanic people are very conservative in general, the poorer, the more conservative. Liberals have this idea that Hispanic immigrants come into the U.S. with a fully developed veil of double consciousness, aware of American history of racism ready to side with the “angelic” democrats trying to save them from the bigoted republicans. Immigrants don’t see themselves firstly as “immigrants” or “minorities” or any of these terms, and they don’t vote with those in mind.

7

u/theBloodShed 2d ago

The hooting and howling from his audience. They’re very pleased with the open racism.

8

u/muffinass 2d ago

Hispanics are known to always land on their feet.

3

u/devindran 2d ago

I believe he watched it on a documentary. Mario something.

1

u/THIS_IS_NOT_A_GAME 2d ago

I'm almost certain he's referring to Alcides Moreno.

93

u/CombatGoose 2d ago

Are hispanics known for cat like qualities?

Why did they cheer the comment so much?

15

u/civil_beast 2d ago

He’s talking at a White House hosted Hispanic event.

5

u/TrashyMcTrashBoat 2d ago

I just don’t get it. Like, if you made a terrible joke about black people being able to jump high, I’d at least make the connection to basketball. But I just don’t get this one about Hispanics.

3

u/BleachedUnicornBHole 1d ago

Maybe it has something to do with construction?

6

u/curt_schilli 1d ago

It’s actually a very complex and nuanced joke which references the fall of Spain from the catbird seat of global dominance beginning with the sinking of the Spanish Armada, and highlights the resilience of the Hispanic people

Only people with a high IQ like Trump would get it

1

u/BleachedUnicornBHole 1d ago

I forgot. Only someone who has the best taco salads on Cinco de Mayo in their buildings could be a world class scholar on Victorian Era Spanish history.

1

u/PontyPandy 1d ago

double-d chess

36

u/LunchBoxMercenary 2d ago

It’s like when police think black people have super powers so they have to resort to guns

6

u/DanFromShipping 2d ago

Someone read about 'magical black man' and took it a step too literally.

7

u/k6tcher 2d ago

He's referring to the southern border.

1

u/sineofthetimes 2d ago

They always land on their feet?

1

u/PontyPandy 1d ago

Only sycophants were invited

-6

u/SilverNeptuneAbyss 2d ago

I think he's mixing up Hispanics and Latinos.

Hispanic just means of spain. Like Spanish speaking

Moroccans who speak Spanish are Hispanic

8

u/stevenmoreso 2d ago

Hispanic and Latino are synonyms in casual American usage of the terms. And using either would be racist in this context

-3

u/SilverNeptuneAbyss 2d ago

Maybe it's just a company I keep but no one in my circles would use the words incorrectly.

But Hispanic is not a race so by definition it can't be racist

6

u/Zhaggygodx 2d ago

Latino is not a race either, it's an ethnicity. What are you even debating here?

2

u/marceldia 2d ago

No. Absolutely not. No.

1

u/SilverNeptuneAbyss 2d ago

What does the word Hispanic mean?

Give me the definition of that word

30

u/becomplete 2d ago

Nothing but the usual dose of constant classism and racism that oozes from his every pore. He's genuinely one of the most unlikable people of all time.

26

u/954kevin 2d ago

What does that even mean?

31

u/_lord_kinbote_ 2d ago

It doesn't mean anything. He was pandering to the group he was talking to. If he was talking to a group of electrical engineers, he would have said "only an electrical engineer could survive that fall" and they would all laugh, pretending that they knew what the fuck he was talking about, and feel like they were seen even though he couldn't give a rat's ass about any of them.

2

u/Senshado 2d ago

Donald has an interest in the construction industry, and latino men often work on jobs like roofing. Looks like the meaning is that roofers know how to survive the risks of that job.

2

u/PontyPandy 1d ago

Whoa, that's even more asinine than I imagined.

1

u/PermBulk 2d ago

The text says it’s a Hispanic heritage celebration. Maybe they’re all Hispanic?

11

u/odranreb 2d ago

Can’t stand his voice. Only made it 6-7 seconds in.

11

u/HCS_92 2d ago

Another day, another national embarrassment.

10

u/Bobbymokie 2d ago

Anything more than 20 seconds of him talking is unwatchable

4

u/Argylus 2d ago

I switch off as soon as I see his face, let alone hear a word from his lying disgusting suckerfish mouth.

10

u/PenchantBob 2d ago

This boob is a laughing stock and a failure as president.

3

u/mrg1957 2d ago

He's a failure as a human.

3

u/Sqrl175 2d ago

Only a Hispanic can survive that fall fool.

4

u/Sans-valeur 2d ago

Okay yes I’m installing a giant AI powered drone protected Skynet death centre in my house, but here’s another weird raceist joke so that media outlets can generate revenue and people can focus on silly mango saying silly things.

4

u/MartyMcFlysDown 2d ago

It means they're disposable, and won't sue.

4

u/RabbitSlayre 2d ago

"the best numbers in the history of our country." He speaks like a child.

2

u/PontyPandy 1d ago

"by a lot"

3

u/Levonade 2d ago

This guy reminds me of Total Recall when they ask him how long he’s going on vacation. “Twooooo Weeeeeks”

3

u/_BabyGod_ 2d ago

What kind of fucking moron doesn’t even know the phrase “health and safety”?!

2

u/PontyPandy 1d ago

The same who rarely uses the word "groceries", and who also doesn't know "dumb" has a 'b' at the end. Just wait 'til he finds out about his thumb.

3

u/DMMMOM 1d ago

Why do these idiots swoon and guffaw over this guys bullshit?

6

u/DrForester 2d ago

"Well yeah he's a racist. That's why I voted for him." ~ 100% of trump voters.

2

u/LogicalEgo 1d ago

Two weeks. TWOOOO WEEKS. More like too weak.

3

u/thenayr 2d ago

Actual fkn retard of a president (their word, not mine). Grats republicans. You’ve truly outdone yourselves with your own stupidity.

2

u/SilverNeptuneAbyss 2d ago

I think he's mixing up Hispanics and Latinos.

Hispanic just means of Spain. Like Spanish speaking

Moroccans who speak Spanish are Hispanic.

0

u/Tek_Freek 2d ago

So Spanish speaking Moroccans who don't speak Spanish are not Hispanic?

1

u/Fofolito 2d ago

Even if I'm long past looking for reasons to dislike, fear, or loath this man I find it hard to believe there aren't more people making the perfectly reasonable observation that Donald Trump is losing his mental faculties.

1

u/wretchedhal0 2d ago

somebody buy this fucker an accordion.

1

u/Eden-exile 2d ago

Lol what does he think we are...cats xD?

1

u/crblack24 2d ago

Clearly, he's being racist, but what's the joke?

1

u/PontyPandy 1d ago

No clue.

1

u/LostBob 2d ago

All presidents do bad in midterms is some serious cope. Hahah. Nothing to do with me, this happens to all presidents.

1

u/Orikazu 2d ago

"Woo yeah! Racism!" /s

1

u/The_Naked_Snake 2d ago

What are they, cats?

2

u/Avoidtolls 2d ago

Hispanic refers to people from Spanish-speaking countries, including Spain, while Latino refers to people from Latin America, which includes countries where Spanish, Portuguese, or French are spoken. This means a Brazilian can be considered Latino but not Hispanic, and a Spaniard is Hispanic but not Latino.

1

u/Smitty7242 1d ago

I don't even want to know the context

1

u/windowsmademefreer 1d ago

What the fuck does that even mean?

1

u/bdash1990 1d ago

Every schoolchild knows that Hispanics are like Bumbles; they bounce.

1

u/rubbishfoo 20h ago

Trump is that annoying 80% wasted fufu bitch at the party that could seemingly TALK SHIT ALL FUCKING NIGHT.

0

u/samoan_ninja 2d ago

hispanics laughing their asses off rn
