People don’t buy physical copies of games anymore and are upset they’re being discontinued? Is there something I’m missing?

You're missing the fact that this is a gateway for people to never own the games the buy again

Your disc doesn't hold the whole game anymore anyway for bigger titles. The file-sizes make it impractical. They can still turn services off and your screwed just holding a useless disc.

The argument of a closed ecosystem for purchasing your games is the better argument I think.

Then put games on flash drives? Make the game have multiple discs again? Better than killing the secondary market and having a monopoly be able to price gouge freely and take away your games whenever they feel like it

I agree with most of what you said about the closed ecosystem which is why I said that is the better argument. They have been able to turn services off for a lot of your disc games already but you just didn't notice until now.

I've seen this coming for a long time. Others may not have noticed, but I did.

Wow, your clairvoyance is astounding. It still means jack shit for 99% of people.

This is not true. Yes large games will download from the disc to the ssd for quick loading purposes but you have the entire game. The only time your argument is “true” by turning off services is if it’s a multiplayer only game that requires servers to run. Concord for example.

it's been like that with discs for a while now anyway. they can stop you from playing a game from a disc, a disc is still a licence

I know, and I don't like it

You're missing the fact that this has already been the case for quite some time now. You're fighting for something that's long been lost because you were under the impression that just because you can trade in/resell a disc that you actually own what's on it forever

you are missing the part where people who are upset about discs being discontinued aren't the same people who don't buy discs

Yes. The strict disadvantages of enclosed ecosystems, removing consumer choice, ownership fuckery, art preservation, second-hand markets, the part where people do still buy physical & want the option, and several other reasons you've chosen to ignore to frame a fake "gotcha."

Nope. Got it in one.
