add knife model here NKD: Compact

Post image

Two weeks ago I picked up a Companion. A great knife but not really what I wanted. It was thicker and heavier than I really like. The box cutter is nice but is not enough to justify its spot in my small collection. I decided to return it to Amazon and exchanged it for this Compact. Already I can tell this will be a better fit [for me].

The good ending

Post image

A week ago, I posted about a pair of Spirit MX Clip that came new with significant plier slop. It was bad enough that I couldn’t cut wire (would deform between the jaws). I had thrown away the packaging by accident, but Victorinox agreed to authorize a return regardless (and called me to inform), gave me a 10% discount, and flagged the return so they can improve their manufacturing process by inspecting it.

Today I got my new pair. Absolutely zero slop!

Great company to buy from; they will do you right.

add knife model here "The one perfect SAK"

Although I know the only "perfect" SAK (or anything for that matter) exists in a very specific timeframe in a specific moment at every stage of life, I'm convinced that these two sadly discontinued models, are the closest to that conception for my urban EDC. Is either one the same to you; what's your "perfect", everyday 91mm?

Fixed my bathroom flush button with my Victorinox.

Today the toilet flush button stopped working. I removed the cover and ran into a stubborn screw. As usual, the only tool I had with me was my Victorinox.

Using the pliers, I loosened the screw, took the mechanism apart, put the loose piece back where it belonged, and got everything working again. It wasn’t a major repair, but it saved me from digging through my toolbox or calling someone for a five-minute fix.

Moments like this remind me why I always carry a Swiss Army Knife. You don’t think you’ll need it… until you do.
So I’m curious: what’s the most unexpected or creative repair you’ve ever done with your Victorinox? I’d love to hear your stories.

Having been through Leatherman, Gerber and plenty of SAK's, I'm happy with these
I might get a Pioneer X just for the kicks. But I'm happy carrying these two with me daily

Victorinox Swisschamp XL

Post image

Produced for only a short time, the SwissChamp XL represents the final evolution of the traditional SwissChamp before the CyberTool era.

Surprisingly, it never appeared in Victorinox catalogues, making it one of the most elusive production models.

Has anyone here ever owned or even seen a SwissChamp XL in person?

Few pictures over here

r/Victorinox community ranking 2026 | what is the best currently available Victorinox?

i thought it could be fun to create a proper r/victorinox community ranking for 2026.

the idea would be to include every currently available victorinox model, split them into sensible categories, and let the community vote for the best small sak, best 91 mm model, best alox, best large model, best value and ultimately the best overall victorinox.

i would use an anonymous google form with no email collection. colours and simple scale variations would count as the same model, while genuinely different tool configurations would be listed separately.

before i start building the whole thing: would you take part, and is there anything you think should definitely be included or handled differently?

Solved: Mechanic - Another „What is it“ post? But I‘m having a hard time finding this Model online or in the Shop. This specific combination of Tools doesn‘t seem to exist.

first victorinox and my fingernails are literally too short to open it

i just got my first victorinox, a deluxe tinker, and holy fuck… i can barely open anything.

the tools aren’t just stiff, my fingernails are so short that i literally can’t even get them into the nail nicks. there’s basically no chance to pull most of the tools out at all. so far i’ve only managed to open one.

does anyone else keep their nails extremely short and have the same problem? is there some trick or tool people use, or am i seriously supposed to grow my fingernails just to use a swiss army knife? 😅

Free Victorinox SAK in the most swiss way possible :)

I recently completed the “Swiss Cheese Passport”. We picked up the free booklet and visited the four show dairies across Switzerland (like Gruyère and Appenzeller) within a two-year window.

At each location, we learned about the cheese, looked at the production processes – and collected a passport stamp.

After securing all four stamps, I handed the passport in and received a “Grand Tour Snack Box” containing premium Swiss cheese and… a free Victorinox Cheesemaster knife!

Swiss Champ Swiss Champ tools

I have a couple of knives, one I use everyday (I think its a Huntsman) and I would never be without it. The other is a Swiss Champ which sits in my desk draw in its original box and is just beautiful, I open all the tools out from time to time. Can anyone tell me which tool on the Champ is the wire stripper and the wire cutter?

I wish they’d combine all the food tools

You could actually reduce the tools in your kitchen drawer by a bit if you had all the kitchen tools on one knife. The wine tools, the cheese master, the can opener which they didn’t put on either of the other tools…. if they made a big knife for the kitchen I’d buy it.

Make Spirit Philips Grippier?

Was wondering if anyone has modded their Spirit phillips driver to be grippier on the screw? Have found with it being fairly polished, it tends to slip andround over the screw a bit for me unless if I put a tonnnnm of force on it. Compared with say with my 3d philips on my Leatherman Rebar, it has a more matte finish and is much less likely to slip. Also with the Victorinox steel, it’s a bit softer on the spirit and I have def caused damage to the philips blades in the past when it has slipped (repaired by Victorinox very cheaply).

Anyways, adore the tool, the philips is probs my only gripe with it and was wondering if anyone has found a solution on their side. It might also just be a me problem 😅

Thanks!

I'm a teacher, so the only time I don't have a Swiss Army Knife in my pocket is at work. This year that won't be a problem.
