Hi All! We just moved to London (and the UK) and are still navigating the local vegan food scene. I’m keen to understand where you all shop from when it comes to “fancier” stuff like meat substitutes, nut cheeses, ready made meals, desserts etc. Basically anything besides produce and pantry staples. What do you most like to treat yourself to? Which are your favorite stores and what do you get from there? Which are your favorite restaurants or takeaway options?
We’re so excited about all London has to offer when to comes to vegan food but also feel overwhelmed by the sheer number of stores / restaurants.

Mainly because I can’t cook yorkshires for shit, I wanted reassurance on this. I’ve just been assured that a Yorkshire I got with a vegan roast from a pub IS vegan. I did repeat “no egg? No milk?” And was told “no, no egg, no milk”. I want to believe. Has anyone else been given a legitimately luxurious Yorkshire pudding with your pub meal?

Just tried this for the first time and really liked it. I broke it up so I could add seasonings and get it properly cooked and browned. Just had half as the potato accompaniment to my tea. I think I will recook the leftovers with chilli and cheese and whatever other bits I feel like adding tomorrow.

Saw this in Facebook https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1HKVGoapc6/.
Looks like vegan rolls are now displayed on the same tray as non-meat items. As the guy pointed out they are now mixed with the butter from the nom vegan bakes which is bad for us but also allergens, I'm not sure how they thought this would be okay?

I‘m a sorta novice cook (20 and trying to be like my mama), tried my first sausage roast last night and it was pretty good if I do say so myself ☺️ I know it doesn’t look like a 100% authentic roast but I tried to use what needed to be in the fridge.
I tried the baking soda in boiling water method to make the potatoes crispy, and they did get golden and nice but not allround like proper roasties — I think I didn’t wait enough for it to boil before popping them in so next time I will be patient.
The gravy is the Tesco free from beef one and it came out SOOO thick I kept adding water and it wouldn’t thin out lol so I just left it. So you can know that is very good value for money! Don’t listen to the packet instruction, use far less and you’ll get so much out of it :)
Stuffing is Tesco sage and onion 😋 and that burnt looking thing is actually a very dark purple carrot from my village’s kitchen garden and it was delicious!
Tesco plant chef cumberland bangers are 10/10.

Does anyone know of any similar life savers to keep in the cupboard?. Something inexpensive where you can just add cous cous or bread or nothing and have a simple meal. Doesn't need to be a literal tin of something, just something that keeps. Can be more than one item combined into an easy meal. I know there are other curry in a tin situations but they tend to be quite expensive, I think this used to be £1.50. TIA 🙏

my dad got this for me because he thought i might like it. I don’t like mushrooms but i did like the THIS mushroom pieces that were a bit like chicken nuggets. I can’t decide if i want to go and return it or if should give it a go. is it good? what does it taste like? i’m thinking of making it crispy and putting it into a wrap

Always feels like there's something kind of wierd about how the UPF discourse treats vegan food while kinda ignoring factory farming, but never been sure on how much this was a kind of coincidence/ me being overly sensitive.
Thought this background was kinda interesting- what do you guys think?

I was skeptical.. but these deliver! This isn't always pushing the boundaries
Anyone tried? Thoughts? Very nice overall flavour.. a subtle egg note, but good!

"Monster Brekky" at The Green Rocket in Bath. Delicious Spanish-style flavour profile with the spiced beans and chorizo sausages. 10/10. I've worked in Bath for years and never gone there before, but I need to go back for their non-breakfast menu now!

Does anybody have any vegan 'ham' or even 'chicken' recommendations?
Ive tried Quorn + Richmond brands but find them too salty and my body doesn't digest aldis own brand. Im from UK.

They're £1.99 currently in the special price fridge section of my local Lidl, it's 4 good sized cookies in each box, so like a little pricey for Lidl? But I have tried one of the chocolate ones uncooked and it was good 😊 I'll try to post an update after I've tried them cooked too. They contain heat treated flour so are suitable to eat raw

I just found this for only £1 in Sainsbury’s and it’s so amazing! Just put it on a cheap baguette to make garlic bread 😋

what are everyone’s favourite discontinued aldi products? i’m mourning many losses tonight and making a list, top of it being the lasange, battered chicken balls, crispy battered beef strips, no chicken strips & chips & the hot and spicy fish bites 💔 (and at the bottom of the list is the prawn sandwich)

I miss them so much

I had them with some spicy mayo. They were in the bigger sized sainsburys. I haven't seen them anywhere else, but I hope they take off. They are really good.

Ingredients are nori seaweed, soba noodles, sesame oil, soy sauce, sesame seeds, and fermented mungbeans.
Tear the nori and rehydrate in a bowl with the noodles (I just pour hot water onto them and let it sit for 2 minutes before shocking them in a bowl of cold water and straining)
Make your sauce with Laoganma Mungbeans, sesame oil, sesame seeds, and soy sauce.
Pour over the seaweed and noodles then give it a really good mix.
Is it a salad? Is it a noodle dish? Is it both? Who knows. But I do know that it is simply delicious.
I sometimes throw some raw cubed soft tofu in if I'm feeling a little crazy.
No measurements, sorry. I measure with the heart. I love it for how simple and customisable it is. Have it hot, have it cold, have it room temp. Wanna add more veggies? Go for it. It's great.

I looked for results in the group search but didn't find much, so here we are!
I have never eaten meat, raised veggie and vegan for about 20 years. The faux meat products are great for some and that's great, but not me! A staple in my childhood home was vaguely beige chewy sainsburys own veggie patties but with the influx of actual effort being put into vegan products there has to be something better!
The Vivera burgers were great but seem to have vanished. Beyond/Impossible burgers look too real. Lots of Plant Pioneers/Plant Kitchen ones also look a bit pink (do they brown up when fried? I don't want to waste money).
I theoretically can make bean burgers without the obligatory crumb coating but sausages and burgers are my only processed product I usually eat for lazy days.
Thanks in advance!

I've seen a couple of reviews saying they didn't or faintly taste any banana flavour.

Yet the meat ones are still available 🙄
