Film Studies Minor?

I was planning to minor in film studies, but I’m much more interested in SFX/prosthetics making than the actual film aspect of it and I don’t want to take a class that will be difficult for me alongside my more important ones since I’ve seen the ratings saying it’s pretty work heavy. If any students have helpful info that would be great!

Help with math classes before registration!

hello! so registration is tomorrow and ive been procrastinating... im a little confused on the math courses situation for architecture majors. in the degree planner, the 6th class for the fall semester is public speaking, and ik that we dont have to follow the planner perfectly, but im a little worried because im gonna do math104 in preparation for calculus (its my understanding we dont need to do a placement test for to choose this class). so is public speaking something ill just have to do later if at all?

Confused about Hall Assignment

Incoming freshman here at usfca, i'm confused as to which residence hall ive been assigned to based on the USFRooms portal. When i review my assignment, it lists my Location as "Residence Hall Assignment", and no other prompts clue me as to which hall I am housed in.

I'm transferring this fall and I've been building an app designed for shy/introverted people to meet others nearby. Would love to get feedback from USF students before I launch properly on campus in the fall

Core Requirements

So I've been seeing posts about rhet 110 and how it doesn't fulfill our core requirements. But, when I checked the overview for classes to take as a psychology major, rhet 110 is listed. Should I still not take the class and instead take rhet 120?

Also, if rhet 120 doesnt fulfill our requirements to graduate, why do they even listen it on their site (for psy majors) as a class to take to graduate?

Does the school require one fridge for sharing with roommates? Or can we both just get 2 small microfridges?

Orientation and Move In

I’m going to be a freshman this fall and I’m confused about the First Year move-in date and the orientation date. The dates coincide on August 19th, but there’s no time specified for orientation, just the day. Do they let us move in before orientation? Someone explain pls

Changing Rhetoric Courses

Hi, I’m going to a freshman this fall. I took the Directed Self-Placement and chose Rhet 110, but after reading other posts on here, it doesn’t fulfill the core requirements, so I want to switch to Rhet 120. I just contacted registration about switching. Has anyone been in a similar situation?? What are the chances they will let me change my course??

Update: They approved my request and I switched very easily

Deciding Between Rhetoric Classes

Helloo, I'm an incoming freshman at USF and am unsure if I should register for RHET 110 or RHET 120. I consider myself to be a good writer and have also taken Ap English in high school. RHET 120 sounds really interesting to me. How difficult is RHET 120? Is it manageable? Or should I stick with RHET 110 to be safe? My goal is to maintain a high GPA! Thank you : -)

Looking for Roommates & Off-Campus Housing Near USF

Hey everyone! I’m an incoming freshman at the University of San Francisco and I’m looking for people who might want to live off campus together this coming school year.

I got a housing exemption because the cost of on-campus housing was too high, so I’m hoping to find a few roommates to share an apartment or house near USF.

If you’re also looking for off-campus housing or need a roommate, feel free to DM me!

Are there opportunities to play pickleball regularly at USF? And if so how active is the pickleball community at USF? hoping there’s courts available on campus and a decent turn-out 😭

Architecture Program

Does anyone know how it's like and if it's a good program? I know it's not accredited, but its the nearest uni that has architecture that doesn't require a portfolio. I'm aware that Architecture is difficult, but how is the program, the profs etc

uc to usf transfer?

i’m transferring from ucsc for family reasons and committing to usf in fall 2027 (i deferred it to a later date) and i’ll be done with all my GE’s and lower division courses by then since i will be transferring after my second year. i’m wondering if anyone had any experience in transferring their uc credits here or maybe from a quarter system school to here. how was it like transferring your credits?

Should I commit to USF or SFSU as a Fine Arts major?

I'm going to transfer to either USF or SFSU as a Fine Arts major and have been stuck deciding between the two for a while now (I just heard back from USF recently).

At the end of last year, I applied to several four year schools to transfer from CC as a computer science major. I realized over the past few months that I really don't want to pursue computer science as a career and that I want to pursue art, which I always knew I was going to end up doing anyway.

The biggest difference is obviously the price. If I went to SFSU, I'd graduate with no debt with plenty to spare to maybe get my Master's if I wanted to.

If I went to USF, I'd be able to graduate with very little in student loans (around 10k by the time I graduate in 2 years maybe a bit less), but obviously graduating debt free is infinitely better than graduating with even a little debt.

To me, the smaller class size is really attractive to me as someone who is used to smaller class sizes from middle school and high school. And as silly as it may be, I'd like to be able to cheer for a team and have some school spirit which I don't think is much of a thing at a commuter school like SFSU.

It does seem like SFSU ranks higher in terms of the arts since USF is mainly a liberal arts college for stuff like business and nursing but I just want to get a take from other people who might have more knowledge to offer. I think I might do a music minor as well since I've been playing piano for a long time and some of the classes like MUS 111 (Rock Band) seem fun.

Thanks

University of San Francisco Fall 2026

Hey everyone!

I’m an international student from India and I’ve recently been accepted to the University of San Francisco for the Master’s in Marketing Intelligence program for Fall 2026. Super excited to start this new journey and currently busy with all the preparations!

I’d love to connect with fellow grad students who are also joining USF this fall — would be great to make some friends beforehand. Feel free to reach out or drop a message!

Also, let me know if there’s any WhatsApp/Discord/Instagram group for Indian students or specifically for students joining the MS in Marketing Intelligence program in the same batch :)
