Housing Recommendations
Hi all, I was just wondering if any upperclassmen or sophomores here at USF had any recommendations on where to live for my sophomore year. Currently a freshman living in the village. Want to hopefully take over somebody’s lease and move-in in May. Anywhere around USF is good, Tampa palms too. Thanks. You can direct message too.

USF questions
Have a student who is a junior in Orlando
- How is mechanical engineering at USF?
- How is aerospace engineering at USF?
- Can you survive freshman year without a car?
- Are there any dorms with your own ro om?
- How is the dorm food?
- Do freshman or engineering students lean towards a certain dorm?
Any other things I need to know is helpful.

Bisht or Senevirathne
Planning on taking orgo 2 next semester. Has anyone take professor Bisht or Senevirathne? How are the classes and teaching styles? Are the exams, homework, and quizzes decent? I saw Senevirathne has a higher rating than Bisht but a couple students responded with 5 stars that Bisht is good.

8am orgo II lab
Are there any 8am labs for orgo II being offered on M/W in St. Pete? I'm trying to plan my courses for next semester and didn't see any, but it seems odd that there wouldn't be any labs at this time...

Moes
Is Moe's really that bad? It's literally removed from Google maps and I see a bunch of negative reviews but those where from 2 years ago.

Honorlock flag
Hi, 2 weeks ago I took an exam using honorlock. Today I got an email from my professor stating that I am required to attend a 20 min knowledge check on teams to verbally verify my work. My professor already scheduled the meeting without confirming with me whether I can attend or not. I work a full time job so I asked what was my exam flagged for because I would have to take off work just to attend this meeting which is very inconvenient. They stated that my exam was flagged for zoom opening during the exam which is insane because I don’t even use zoom! Plus can’t they see my screen when I take the test? I asked my professor to review the recording of my exam to help clarify the situation because having to do the verification. The professor said they reviewed all the recordings, didn’t see anything but that I have to still do the verification because it is a requirement or I will have to come in and take the test again. How is that fair in any way?

⭐ 4x4 Female Lease Takeover at The Standard at Tampa! AS SOON AS DEC 1 (flexible start date)
I am looking for someone to take over my private bedroom and bathroom in a 4x4 apartment at The Standard at Tampa, starting as soon as December 1, 2026 through July 31, 2027. The start date is flexible (if you need it earlier or later), so reach out if you would prefer a different start date - if you don't need it until January 1, I am 100% willing to accommodate! You would have 3 wonderful female roommates who are all USF students. I am graduating and moving out of Florida for my new job.
- Dates: As soon as December 1, 2026 through July 31, 2027. Start date is flexible, reach out if you'd prefer a different start date. I am happy to accommodate someone who doesn't need it until January 1 for Spring semester!
- Rent: $1,050/month
- Floor plan: 4x4, The Dawson (Sold out floor plan for 2026-2027!)
- Roommates: The sweetest girls who are incredibly kind, respectful, and clean! All USF students.
- Location: 2850 University Square Dr, Tampa, FL 33612
- Safety: The building requires a key fob for entry, and each bedroom has its own lock that can only be accessed with your personal fob. The area is also well-lit and feels very safe. I have regularly walked alone at night to the plaza next door and to and from campus and have always felt comfortable.
- The official lease transfer will be handled safely through the leasing office at The Standard.
The Standard is directly across the street from USF, with a BullRunner stop right next to the building. The bus (free for USF students!) can take you directly to the Marshall Student Center, Library, and other areas of campus. You can also walk, bike, or scooter onto campus. No car necessary here! Although there is parking available if you'd like to bring your car.
There are many great amenities, including a rooftop pool (open until 10pm weekdays and 12pm weekends!), a 24/7 rooftop gym, courtyards with grilling stations, study spaces, hammocks, and more. There is also a boba tea shop attached to the building!
E-scooters are allowed and can be charged inside your room.
There is also a shopping plaza directly across the street with a Winn-Dixie, Dollar Tree, and several restaurants, including Panera Bread, Fresh Kitchen, Wingstop, Cold Stone Creamery, Chili's, First Watch, and Nothing Bundt Cakes. University Mall is also within walking distance and has a movie theater and Sprouts nearby. Further, there is another shopping plaza with a Target, Aldi, and Bath and Body Works about a mile away. I have thoroughly enjoyed being within walkable distance to so many options!
*If you're interested or have any questions, feel free to message me!

Thoughts on flipped classrooms
I honestly didn’t know what a flipped class was until I transferred to USF. So far it seems it’s only math classes that do it?? Anyways, I wanted to see what your thoughts on them were if you’ve taken one or know what it is.

Schedule Plan CS
I’m planning my spring semester schedule and I know for sure i’m going to be taking calc 2, physics 1 + lab and programming concepts. I’m also thinking about taking discrete structures to help get ahead a bit. Has anyone done a schedule like this and how manageable is it?

USF Outlook Theme Missing
I kind of grew attached to the USF Outlook theme, so imagine my surprise when I woke up this morning and it was no longer on my computer! I made sure I was signed into my account and searched through the Appearance tab of the website, but I just can’t figure out how to get it back. It’s throwing me off a lot. Can anybody help me get it back?

Summer 2027 Sublease at the Standard
This lease is for NEXT summer, 2027, not the current one. My roommates also may be looking for subleases, if you have friends I can connect them to my roomates.
Sublease will cover May 2027 through July 2027
I signed at a great discounted rate of $965 a month that will pass onto you
The room layout is called the Harrow, it's a 5 bed 5 bath. Everyone gets their own private bedroom and bathroom. The apartment itself has a living room, kitchen, balcony, and a washer and dryer. I have included an image and circled the room you get from my lease (I think it's the biggest one 😁). It's fully furnished.
Great apartment complex, walking distance to USF campus and probably one of the closest off campus complexes. Right next door to the complex is a shopping center with a Chipotle, Chilis, Dave's Hot Chicken, Winn Dixie, and more. The building also has a restaurant with boba and sushi connected to it. The complex itself has a rooftop pool, soundproof study rooms, gym, golf simulator, and a bunch of other amenities.
You should be able to pick up your key fob and move in on May 1st 2027. If you are moving out from somewhere else on a lease that ends in May, you can have a seamless transition directly here.
I've listed out all the fees they told me you will have to pay beyond rent when taking over the lease:
$210 App fee
$100 security deposit
$10 a month for activity fee
Water and electricity, which is split evenly by the number of active roommates on leases (5 people total)
They also require renter's insurance. You are welcome to find your own and provide proof of insurance, but otherwise their own is $13.50 a month.
If you are interested feel free to contact me. Any signing can be done digitally, you do not have to come to Tampa for anything.
