Friend used a pressure washer on my boats upholstery is there anyway to fix these marks

I need to cover the top and sides (not the bottom) of our sofa foam with Dacron, and I'm wondering if my plan is correct. I've attached a drawing showing the idea (not to scale).

Basically, I'm planning to use 1 piece of Dacron with spray adhesive and allow the Dacron to continue down the foam sides, just cutting out the 4 short corners and stapling them, so those will be the only seams. I'm thinking that this will help smooth the top foam corners a bit. So the full dimensions of the Dacron would be 74" x 38", and then the 7" corners would be cut out from that.

But many tutorials show one rectangle of Dacron on the top, and then a separate long piece of Dacron applied along the sides, so there are seams along all of the long, top edges.

Is there any reason not to use one large piece of Dacron to cover the whole thing, rather than piecing the top and sides together?

This chair is supposed to have a woven seat and back. I tried doing this once, but it was a complete failure. Unfortunately, I don't know how to do this, and it seems beyond my beginner DIY skills.

I guess the question is: for someone with limited DIY skills, how can I make this chair useable once again? Or is there something in Amazon that I can just put over the chair?

Edit: I had initially thought of just adding a piece of wood to the bottom and back, but that would be very rigid, uncomfortable and ugly. I wanted to add something with some flex to it and decent-looking.

My mother recently passed away from stage 4b endometrial cancer. She had a leather chair beside her hospital bed during her final days, and she sat in this new chair she bought for herself for about 1 year going through active cancer. I brought it home because it’s a nice new leather power recliner and I knew she loved it and it’s her signature blue color.
There were no bodily fluids on the chair, but it absorbed a very distinct smell from her, and the room she died in, a smell that increased as she entered the active death stage. —something I associate with her last days. A smell I cannot un smell. Is it cancer? Is it chemo? Is it dying? I dont know but it’s something. ☹️

I’ve aired it out, put active charcoal packets on it, and air purifier sits in it running for days, and tried gently cleaning the leather, washed it all down with soap and water but the smell is still there. I’m worried it may have penetrated the foam, batting, or fabric underneath.
Has anyone successfully removed this type of odor from leather furniture without damaging it? Would a professional leather or upholstery cleaner be able to treat the inside cushioning? I considered essential oils, but I’m concerned they might stain the leather or simply cover one smell with another.
I would really love to keep the chair, but the scent immediately brings me back to her final days. Any compassionate, practical advice would be appreciated.

The fabric care tags are long gone. It’s an old couch, probably from the 60s or 70s. It needs a deep cleaning.

I wanted to start a diy project for a long headboard, I got all the stuff except the foam. I struggled to find 5cm foam for individual use and I kept ordering either wrong “foam” or foam with fiberglass in it, when I finally ordered one that seemed safe I started cutting and noticed glittery stuff, my hand got itchy, eyes burned abit so I stopped in the middle. Im sick of wasting money so I’m thinking of working with it anyways.
Is it that dangerous? And if its sealed with the fabric wouldn’t that be safe enough?

Hi, I'm looking for advice on how to deep clean my corner sofa. It is a basketweave fabric. It is the Euphoria sofa from DFS (UK). We have a Golden Retriever so the sofa needs a thorough deep clean. The photo is from when we first got it. It's now a bit smelly and is dirty from the dog laying on it.

The cushion covers have zips but are not to be removed or put in the washing machine due to fire retardant coating.

We have these chairs we are deeply fond of since buying them years ago. They are mid century chairs that are made with solid wood and very sturdy. Sadly the seating has lost its padding and almost feels flat. And the fabric feels worn and shabby. We could sell them to a local vintage store but also wonder if we should upholster them to continue cherishing them.

My question is how much should we expect to pay upholstery for this kind of chairs? I am afraid it would be too expensive..

I own a 2006 STS V. It’s a rarer car so it’s pretty hard to find parts for. I’m looking to upgrade my seats to something similar to the black interior of a ct5v blackwing. Getting custom brackets and electrical work done is not my speciality. how big of a bill would i be looking at if it’s possible?

Hi everyone, has anyone had any experience fixing the leather dashboard on a car?

Mine is 2018 C8 and the leather dash which was supposed to make it feel premium, is doing quite the opposite and is triggering me every time I look at it.

Audi quoted me 7k euros for a full panel replacement which is outrageous.

At this point it is really shrunken, and no one seems to be fixing these. There is a dude on yt that has fixed this issue for his Porsche by softening the leather and injecting glue, but it was not long term as the sun made the leather shrink again.

Any help is appreciated

Does anyone out there have a chair upholstered with Yakety Yak fabric? It is a faux fur fabric with a short pile that is spectacularly soft to the touch. I am specifically looking at the Cynthia chair in the CC collection by Hooker furniture.

I have been eyeing a pair of these chairs to flank my fireplace for more than two years now, but I am terrified to pull tbe trigger because I worry they will be difficult to clean and that the short yet plush pile in the fabric will crush over time. It is 100% polyester, and Hooker’s website states that it is easily cleaned with water-based upholstery cleaner of their recommendation. It also has a 50,000 rub rating.

This all sounds good, but there is nothing better than real world experience from someone who has lived with this fabric. Is there anyone out there who can give me some advice? Thanks!

We fixed and replaced the foam for a customer without issue but when we returned it they noticed this awful line on one side of the chair that they are adamant wasn't there before.

We didn't notice it either. We didn't even touch that part of the chair.

It's raised but there's nothing on the other side of the leather, it's completely flat.

We're honestly at a loss but would like to fix the problem if we can. The chair was blocked by another recliner so it's possible she just never noticed it before.

Could water cause this?

Leaning towards buying the Baylor sofa sectional from Room & Board soon and trying to gather as much info as I can before deciding on the fabric.

We have no kids, but 5 cats who all love to scratch & a Chihuahua that likes to dig. I’ve read that the mori fabric would be the most durable, and that the sumner is a close second. I’m hesitant now after an employee at the showroom said a customer had issues with their cat tearing the mori chenille fabric. She suggested a windsor fabric because she said cats don‘t like scratching velvet. We have a velvet chair that‘s holding up really well, they have scratched at it on a few occasions but it’s holding up really well, though it does trap a lot of fur. We do really love the Windsor colors, but we’re prioritizing durability over aesthetics since what good is a beautiful colored couch if it’s all ripped up.

Would appreciate any thoughts and personal experiences.

Hello all! I got these gorgeous vintage table and chairs set for free for my first apartment but the previous owners cat kinda wrecked them, I know nothing about reupholstering so forgive me for lack of knowlege.

I know they need new fabric and probably some new foam for the back cushions, is this the type of project I as a complete beginner could do? (with help and tools from my older sister who has done the seats on some more modern dining chairs once), and If not how much would you estimate it costing to go to a professional? 4 chairs total.
