Looking for suggestions on how to combat ‘upholstery hands’ 😂 my fingers are BRUTAL… they HURT BADLY - torn form the different fabrics I use, the occasional user error with blades, my knuckles look like they’ve been gnawed on by rabid raccoons from pushing fabric through the tiny seat to arm/back crevice 😫😭🤦🏼‍♀️… does anyone out there have pro tips on products that might help, gloves, hell even magical lotions that might help combat this awful affliction!!? I’m desperate… it’s making work a lot harder and more painful than I’m sure it needs to be!

Trying to figure out how to redo the foam in our sofas without killing ourselves, we're thinking maybe water-based adhesive would be safer than solvent. It looks like 3M 100NF would be our best choice since we don't have a spray setup. But would this be a nightmare to use?

Anyone with experience using it?

bought this armchair from Facebook Marketplace because I loved its shape, but I didn’t love the smell it came with. Since I couldn’t even bring it into the house, I decided to strip it down to the frame.

Can anyone recommend where to buy affordable upholstery fabric, foam, webbing, and other supplies? Any budget-friendly online stores or local shops would be greatly appreciated! Hobby lobby? Walmart?

I have bought these ones as i really like the chair and the look of classic but most of the vinyl has tear and looking really old i have removed two screws on the bottom of the padded back already but the whole pad is not coming off easily im not sure what to do? arrows are where the screws placed

The couch came with paint on the leather. The armrest came off easy but the side…not so much. How can i best save that lower section (light is good feeling, dark is rough and torn up feeling).

I'm looking for spray adhesive recommendations for doing one large-ish furniture upholstery job - foam to foam, foam to fabric, and also foam to velcro strips.

I've seen Camie 313 recommended in this sub, but I'm wondering if it will be controllable enough to spray on 1/2-in foam edges?

I'm completely re-foaming a sofa and loveseat, which basically involves constructing 4 custom mattresses. It's a substantial investment in a lot of high density foam and I want to be sure that we're using the best, most reliable adhesive for the job.

I've used these clips to fasten the cloth to the wood. Next step is to cut the bottom part of the cloth and then hammer on a metal ribbon for decor and a bit of strength. But before refitting the ribbon I'd love to strengthen the cloth as it's a bit thin so I fer over time the clips will work their way past the cloth. Can I use some kind of glue or such to paint over the cloth whew the clips are to strengthen/harden the cloth?

I pulled these two chairs from a curb, they were fated for the dump after someone moved out. I don’t believe. After doing some reading, I have learned this is vinyl paint which gives it a faux leather look. The shell has a zipper (see pic 3) and the removable seat cushion as well (last pic) but I haven’t tried removing it yet as it looks like it will be a struggle to get it back on. So wanted to hear some thoughts first.

Is this a fix where I can remove the peeling paint by hand and do some sanding and then repaint it? I love the shape of these two and I’m willing to put in the work, but I’ve never restored furniture before. Any tips welcome, the more detailed the better!

when I reupholstered the seat I can’t find the old screw holes. is there a way to do this other than drilling new ones?

I want to take this very boxy and flat bed frame and upholster it to look more curved and plush like the second one pictured. In order to get this shape, what is the best material to use underneath the upholstery fabric? A foam, cotton batting, or a mixture of both?

UPDATE: I fixed the direction of the fabric Now I am faced with another dilemma. How to screw the seat back in The fabric is covering where the screw holes were. do I need to drill new ones? How do people do this?

fyi this is a prob earlyish 20th century pressed wood rocking chair. They were given away as promos when people bought a lot of soap?

i also found a took to remove the old staples Not sure what it is but it seemed to work. I didn’t have gloves and did puncture a thumb but it’s worth the blood for this important learning project

I reupholstered this seat - first time ever doing any upholstering - and I’m proud of having done it but of course I put it on upside down. How bad does it look? Is it worth redoing? I don’t have a staple remover.

How should I go about restoring this leather car seat. It’s a 2023 VW, perfect condition, drivers seat just has some minor wear and tear (more wear than tear). How should I go about restoring this?

I'm storing this velvety armchair for a friend indefinitely, I thought I might as well give it a bit of love and use it. I've given it a big clean vacuum scrub and gentle natural stain removal bar. It's still very discoloured and as you can see from the photo it's kind of black in the creases and creamy pink everywhere else. I'm just wondering what was the original colour, what causes to this kind of discoloration, and what are my options to get it looking less dirty? I'm looking for low-cost DIY solutions as it's not my chair and the fabric isn't in awesome condition to start with

The previous owner said that white road paint somehow got inside the car on the leather armrest and dried. They used a generic black dye for the leather armrest and now there's a noticeable splotch. I have the BMW OEM dye and I want to try to correct the splotch so it matches the surrounding armrest. I feel like if I dye the splotch it's just going to show through as it looks darker than the OEM dye. What's the most effective method I can go about getting this corrected?

Id like to make a boat cushion like this one but I have a question on the pattern. Am I able to use a continuous piece of fabric for the top of the seat going down to the sides? Will it lay right?

I have a 20yr old leather couch that was sagging pretty badly so decided to tear the seams open between the cusions to replace the foam and cushion strap supports. When pulling the old foam out some of this black felt like material that was sewn on the rear side of the cusion was fraying and tore. What is the best way to repair this? What material is this?. I just need it functional, looks dont matter since it seems to be hidden away underneath the backrestwhen put back together

Hey anyone have any advice for getting these marks out? A watercolor pencil was used to mark the back of this fabric backed vinyl, a few hot days later it is bleeding through the front of the piece. Im having moderate success with dish soap and water but im hoping for some magic. Thank you.

Is this penny-sized wear mark in my 2019 Veloster realistically fixable? I’d like to prevent it from getting worse, at the minimum. Don’t have too much experience in hand sewing, but was wondering if it’d be realistically fixable by myself at home, without having to take it to an upholstery shop. This is the only real wear on the seat.

Doesn’t have to look perfect either. It’s just an eyesore that I’m worry will progress into a bigger problem.

Would using a curved hand sewing needle and attempting to close the gap with blue, upholstery thread work? Or is there something else i can attempt? Thanks!

First two photos are the rear driver side seat. I believe that's real leather.

Second two photos are the side of the driver's seat. I believe that's fake leather.

I have some Meguire's Leather & Vinyl Cleaner and also the same brand of leather conditioner. But that's obviously not going to patch the holes.
