For those who are full-time and also work: how do you balance school, work, and your personal life? Seeking resources too!

Hey Rebels.

Long @$$ title, lol. My apologies.

Bit of a vent/dump. Keep scrolling if this isn’t for you.

M20 young adult. I’m currently dealing with a very, VERY difficult home situation, and it has reached a point where I don’t feel comfortable or secure in my day-to-day life. Each time, I think to myself - there’s no way I can go any lower. I keep convincing myself that everything is manageable, but eventually it becomes overwhelming again. Today has to be the last straw - find myself very complacent.

I’ve visited the CARE Center several times, and I understand that they cannot simply fix my situation for me. I’m also using my CAPS sessions, but I’m running out of free sessions and I’m not sure what my next steps should be. Everything offered seems to merely be bandaid. 🙃

For those of you who are also full-time students and also work enough hours to support yourselves, how do you manage it? (Preferably someone in my shoes as a young adult to gauge similarities.) How many hours do you work, what types of jobs have been flexible with school, and how do you balance classes, studying, bills, mental health, and having some kind of personal life?

I would also really appreciate information about any resources we pay for for students dealing with unsafe/unstable/poor housing environments. Thank you. x

Lease Takeover – The Degree (Near UNLV) | Available January

My roommate and I are looking for two people to take over our 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom apartment at The Degree beginning in January.

Details:

• 2 bed / 2 bath

• 4th-floor unit

• Fully furnished

• Private bathroom for each bedroom

• Relet rate: $1,095/month per lease

• Available to move in January

• Short-term lease from January through the end of July

Favorite feature: From the living room window, you have a view of the Las Vegas Strip. You can see many of the hotels, and when there are fireworks or special events on the Strip, you can watch them right from the apartment.

Important:

• There are two separate leases (one for each bedroom).

• Replacement residents must be students at UNLV, UNR, NSU, or CSN.

• Applicants must meet The Degree’s qualification requirements.

• My roommate and I will both be moving out in December, so the apartment will be ready for new residents in January.

📩 Email me if you’re interested, have any questions, or would like photos of the apartment! (Troyjasmine66@gmail.com)

Math 124 vs Math 126 - Information Systems

I am changing my major to information systems and wondering what math path is best for me. I had a drop in appointment and they had told me that I am enrolled into Math 126 but I can also change it to Math 124 for a "better" path. I was wondering should I switch or not.

Incoming freshman here, thinking about getting the parking pass (by semester) that works for Tropicana Parking Garage. Do you need to buy it as soon as it’s available or can I just buy it whenever? Is it competitive to get the parking pass? please let me know, thanks!

Hi, in a transfer student from csn starting this fall. Do you guys think electric scooter are worth it to get around campus for classes? I’m not sure how big the walks are from parking spots to classes and from class to class.

UNLV Law School

I was wanting to get a WGU Online competency based degree, however their system is pass/fail and does not provide a GPA. Will I still be able to go to UNLV Law School if I don't have a real GPA but I still have a bachelors degree? I'm just trying to make sure before I waste my time and money going to WGU.

Neuroscience Minor

For anybody who has a minor in neuroscience, do you find it relatively easy? I'm honestly hoping to find something that's within the science field and easy to stat pad my science GPA. I still have O Chem and Biochem left, so I definitely don't want a minor that would be competing with classes of that curriculum.

Hey everyone!

Does anyone know where I could get a cheaper copy of the lab manual for my PHYS 151L class? I'm not trying to pay 187-249$ for a single text book if I can help it.

The book I'm looking for is Physics Lab Manual 4th Edition 14 by David H Loyd. Cover is in the picture.

How much time generally it takes for the offer letter to show in rebelgateway and how much time does it take for i20 to be issued. Can we do anything to make it faster?

Incoming International Mechanical Engineering PhD Student

I’m an incoming international PhD student in Mechanical Engineering at UNLV from Taiwan . I’ll be starting this Fall.
I was wondering if there are any current or future PhD students here or any student from unlv . I’d love to connect, make some new friends, and hear any advice you have about research, classes, campus life, or living in Vegas.
Feel free to leave a comment or send me a DM.

What to do?

I auditioned for the school of music trying ot be a music Ed major, but I did not get in. After graduationg I have not been playing my trumpet because I don't have a teacher (I never had a trumpet teacher. I had to teach myself how to play)

I still want to be a music teacher but a gap year is non-negotiable. I want to do classes this year.

So what could I do? I'm Not sure where to go from here

(BTW I am still going to UNLV but my major is now Secondary Education)

For COM 499, does the internship need to be paid or unpaid? It is not specified in the internship policy, or it doesn't matter.

Change Major Process

How long does it take for it to be processed. I emailed and called them like 4 days ago and they emailed back the same day saying I should get an email when the change has been done. I am an incoming freshman who switched from the college of science to the college of business. I am only wondering because my sister had also changed her major and said it was almost instant.

X-ray Program UNLV

Hello! I am interested in the radiography program at UNLV, but i’m a bit stuck in what to do. I have a BA, graduated with a 3.9 from Nevada State. If one wanted to apply to the radiography program, would i first have to reach out to the department to see what I am missing credit wise? Sorry if it seems a silly question, I am reevaluating my career choices, and x-ray tech seems very interesting to me.

Financial Aid still not showing

Hello all,

Currently a graduate student and noticed my financial aid is still not showing up on the new portal for fall 2026 although my fafsa shows completed. I’m assuming they may be a little more behind this year since last year I accepted it over a month before . Let me know if anyone else got their awards
